  • "What a lovely cottage, in a lovely setting, run by lovely people."

Being dog friendly was one of the main reasons we chose this cottage and it didn't disappoint. The whole family loved it. The village down the road and the walk along The Weir/Barnard Castle is lovely too. We can't wait to go back. The cottage had everything you could need and more, so well equipped and the hot tub was lovely. Would definitely recommend

  • "Firstly i like to say how lovely the people are who own this property."

Had a 2 tiny hiccups during our stay and they were with you to fix them straight away with a smile on there faces. The stables is furnished to a really high standard and caters for all your needs whilst away. Beds were comfy. I cant really say more it was just a great week. Others have stated about the smell outside from the farm nearby. Yes there was a smell but didn’t bother us and was not there all the time so please don't let this put you off. End of the day your in the countryside. Overall a five star stay and would definitely recommend.

Inside was clean with a bright decor and under floor heating The Barn is well equipped for your stay the owners had left a nice welcome pack and fresh eggs from the chickens they are on hand if you need them but not intrusive. The Hot tub was also a nice touch especially after a long day out I would highly recommend The Barn

  • "There was plenty of room."

The smell outside was overpowering at times. We would not return due to that. Just a simple broom would be useful in the unit so we can keep the floor tidy. Upon arriving there was but a tiny bit of toilet paper. It wouldnt hurt to have one full roll, particularly when shops are some distance. Underfloor heating is good but takes too long to heat. Hopeless when a cold snap hits, as no other quicker heating methods. The dishwasher top draw runner was broken and difficult to use. It needs fixing but obviously been like that for a while. The location was quiet and the spa pool a welcome addition.

The cottage was a home away from home & the owners were so helpful. The trampoline & hot tub were the highlights for our daughter & the bunk room was really well designed for children. In a great location for nearby attractions & we enjoyed days out to Raby Castle, The Bowes Museum & Low Force Waterfall among others. Would definitely recommend.

Which were very much appreciated. Thank you. Me and my sister had a lovely relaxing, peaceful break. I would have no hesitation in recommending this cottage at all.

  • "A lovely cottage that's been very well designed and decorated."

Lovely owners that were on hand if required. On a personal note I found the bed mattress very hard so I didn't sleep well, and I would've liked to have seen a tall fence around the hot tub just to give abit of privacy from the main house, but like I say this is a personal note. Otherwise a lovely place to stay

It was fantastic I loved the fact it was all on the ground floor, I would really recommend this stay for anyone with small children as it made life so much easier for us, not having to worry about stairs. The park area outside was excellent the children loved it especially the trampoline. The accommodation upon arrival was extremely clean and the kitchen was superb well equipped had everything you needed and the oven was of a high standard and cooked food really quickly. The hot tub was available for us to use throughout our stay this was a great facility and we used it everyday. If you are thinking of booking here, just book it you won’t regret it!

The place was very clean, cosy and had everything we needed. The lovely owners left a big box of biscuits & some eggs for us which i thought was very kind! We didnt attempt the hot tub as it was too windy outside due to the storm, but that didnt dampen our stay whatsoever. I’ll be definitely recommending this lovely little place to family & friends!

Arrived on 23rd to a warm welcome from Nigel. Cottage is spotlessly clean, with everything you need. We spent Christmas day chilling in the hot tub. Our daughter and son in law joined us on the 27th and we cooked a Christmas dinner. The area is beautiful, with Barnard Castle on the doorstep. We used the hot tub again on a clear evening and the stargazing was incredible. Cannot recommend highly enough. Will definitely be back. Thanks Julia and Nigel.

The cottage was well equipped and quiet. Initially we did have some problems with the Broadband/WiFi which really wasn't fit for purpose, however we were pleasantly surprised when the owner got a technical engineer in who resolved the problem. After this we had no further problems and can report that SmartTV, tablets and phones can all be used adequately including to make calls and video calls. The hot tub was also lovely and most welcome after a days walking. The owners could not have done more to help us and without hesitation we would recommend this cottage to others.

  • "Our stay was very enjoyable, lovely location, peaceful on a working farm."

The family were very helpful and friendly, we shared a play area, and my little grandson loved it. My elder Grandson loved the hot tub, and used it daily. The only negatives were the weather and the wifi, one of which our hosts couldn’t do much about, and the wifi which they had done what they could, but the area just as a poor signal, we struggled with phone and gps, so that’s just one of those things. If you are planning a holiday streaming films on your iPad this isn’t the place for you, if you are planning a peaceful break in the country, and get out and about it’s a great location, and place to stay.
