  • "As soon as we walked in we felt comfortable."

The lodge is lovely and well equipped. We didnt want for anything and had the most relaxing week exploring the coast. The hot tub was wonderful tom relax in after our days out The staff in the pub are great - welcoming and freindly and we enjoyed eating from the Thai menu there during our stay. We will be back

  • "4.8 ⭐️ Other than the back door getting stuck and needed a bit of force to open, the lodge was perfect."

The pub (Blackwel ox) served some of the best Thai food I've had in the UK. I would suggest trying the salt and pepper chicken wings, lol. I would highly recommend staying 3+ nights! Will definitely be going back again. If there is one thing I could suggest to make the cabins perfect. Is if (you) they had a canopy over the top of the hot tub.. as the British, whether it is well temperamental, to say the least. Thank you, Blackwell ox.. Be seeing you soon!

  • "Very good accommodation overall, comfortable bed nice location very quiet."

However seating rather low for elderly people. The walk in shower needs a grab rail for safety this applies to people of all ages and abilities as anyone can slip. The owner did provide a non slip bath matt when I discussed this which was appreciated but again this needs to be standard equipment. The front door lock was a nightmare to use very difficult to lock it requiring some force and speed to operate it some one who had arthritis or weakness in their wrists would really struggle.

  • "The lodge was one of the best we've had."

Our only small niggle was the tight car park space. We really enjoyed our meals at The Blackwell Ox. Staff were always welcoming and pleasant. We are missing our hot tub already. Would definitely stay there again.

About the location

STOKESLEY

Great Ayton 3 miles; Saltburn-by-the–Sea 14 miles.

Stokesley is an attractive, elegant, historic market town which was mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086, with many interesting Georgian and Victorian buildings. The River Leven flows through the town and is crossed by the ancient Pack Horse Bridge. Levenside provides visitors with a peaceful riverside walk, well planted with trees, as a contrast to the bustle of the High Street. The town has a distinguished wide cobbled main street lined with Georgian and Regency buildings. It is well served with shops, banks, public houses and restaurants and the weekly Friday markets are held on the main square. Just off the market square is the Church of St Peter & St Paul which has woodwork carved by the Mouseman of Kilburn. Surrounded by the Cleveland Hills and close to the northern edge of the North York Moors, Stokesley provides an ideal base from which to explore the Yorkshire Dales, the heather clad North Yorkshire Moors and the pretty market towns of Great Ayton, Northallerton and Thirsk. The seaside spa resort of Saltburn is 30 mins drive away whilst Whitby, Runswick Bay and Robin Hoods Bay are within easy reach.
