  • "Fantastic clean, well equipped bungalow in a great location."

  • "We had a great break staying in Maple House."

A very clean and comfortable property . The description of the property was exactly what we found. A community shop around the corner selling everything that you need if you are catering at home from the well equipped kitchen. The railway station around a ten minute stroll away with York only a ten minute ride away . More convenient than taking the car. All in all a great place to stay as previous reviews have suggested.

  • "Comfortable, clean, quiet location, convenient to rail station."

Most facilities good, beds & seating comfortable. Had to move furniture to give convenient surfaces & reading lamps. TV poor. Curtains puddled on floor and uneven flooring were serious trip hazards to us older folk. Outside space a big disappointment, chairs to sit on but only a view of wooden fence and a row of wheelie bins - no plants at all. I would recommend this holiday home to cover basic needs - eating & sleeping - which suited us as we were in Yorkshire to give support to an elderly relative and not on holiday.

Thank you for your feedback, the flooring was professionally installed and we’ve had the fitters back to ensure there isn’t a trip hazard and they said “it’s now pool table flat”. We’ve installed Sky TV which we hoped would have improved the TV experience - we can check it again and if not I’ll source a better TV. Thank you for taking time to feedback share ideas on how we can improve. Sarah Property Owner

  • "Maple House like Mary Poppins is practically perfect in every way."

The property was spotless and felt like a home away from home. The bed and sofa were very comfortable, the kitchen had everything you would need to make a meal and was fully fitted with most things you would need. It lacks a freezer and a washing machine but I've been in cottages that had these and never used them because I'm on holiday. The back garden was small but got the sun for most of the day and a patio set was provided. Amazingly enough so was the sun. The cottage is located in the prettiest part of the village and was very peaceful. I stayed alone and felt very safe. It is convenient for the community shop and the White Horse which does the most fantastic Sunday Roast. Don't order a starter as you will never finish it. A short walk out of the village takes you to East Leeds Airport which has a cafe where you can watch the dinky little planes. There is an hourly train service into York from the nearby station which takes less than 15 minutes. All in all it was a very relaxing holiday. I even potted a few balls on the miniature snooker table.

Thank you for taking time to share your feedback and for being so complementary of our cottage. So pleased you enjoyed your stay with us. Sarah Property Owner

Sarah left us some milk, coffee etc so we didn’t need to shop straight away. The village is lovely and quiet, the villages were very friendly, the little shop had all you could need at reasonable prices. Hopefully we will have another stay later in the year.

Thank you for taking time to leave such lovely feedback. We hope to welcome you back soon. Sarah Property Owner

We were really impressed with the cottage it was very relaxing and ideally situated to get the train into York. The owners were very nice when we spoke and the welcome pack was very warm and friendly too. We would definitely return. As we both have mobility issues, the bungalow was ideal.

  • "So glad to have found this little gem!"

Maple House is a lovely property in a peaceful location. It is spotlessly clean, beautifully furnished, and SO comfortable. We only had a 3 night break and would love to stay again for longer next time so we can take full advantage of everything Maple House and the local area have to offer. The train station is just a 5 minute walk and you can get a train direct to York, we pre-booked tickets and got return travel for 2 for cheaper than car parking in York, not to mention time & stress saved. Also a 5 min walk, Sunar Bangla Indian restaurant and the White Horse pub, we had meals at both and they were excellent.

Thank you for taking time to share such lovely feedback. We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay and are looking forward to welcoming you back. Property Owner

  • "The bungalow is in a lovely quite area and quite well equipped for our holiday."

Church Fenton is a lovely village and found the people to be very friendly. The railway station just a few minutes walk away was so handy so caught a train to York rather than try to drive in and search for parking places. We did find the very poor Wi-fi connection very frustrating, only managing to get a good link for a few hours each day. The kitchen sink needs some repair to the drainage system as it seemed to be permanently clogged up. The bathroom hot tap is very loose and I had to hold the tap as I turned the tap on otherwise it moves around. A full length mirror somewhere in the property would be good plus a little more shelf space in the bathrooms.

Thank you so much for providing feedback for us to work on, we aim to provide the best experience for our visitors and I'd like to share that we are already working on the points you raised. The new bathroom taps are on order, We will be using blocked drain remover in the kitchen. Re the WIFI we are sorry that on occasions it isn't working as we would like, each time we have checked it works well but that being said are signing up for lined broadband to be connected (rather than Mobile WIFI).
