• "Really lovely property, great location with off road parking."

  Owner very helpful. 10 min walk to harbour/small beach area (steep hill), lots of places to get drinks, snacks, meals. We went to Cod and Lobster, Royal George and Captain Cook. Fish and chip shop next door but one is excellent. Everyone very friendly. Info in house about several local walks, we did Cowbar and Runswick bay

• "Faran House was perfect, the property was spotlessly clean, well equipped, the beds were extremely comfortable."

  Loved the touch from the host to leave beverages, wine, flowers and biscuits to settle in. The garden was perfect for sitting out. Great base for Whitby and the National Park. Recommended Runswick Bay for walking the dog on the beach. Will definitely be returning.

  This cottage is beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean, in a great location. The easy and free parking is a real bonus. So glad we have booked a 2nd stay!

• "We booked last minute and was very pleased with what we arrived to."

  A very clean house that had everything we needed for a great break. Up the hill from the main area of Staithes, but ideal as away from the busy tourist area. All areas of the property were well looked after and the little extra touches like a welcome bottle of wine and bathroom spa treats went down very well among with the lush ginger biscuits. Will be back as really enjoyed our stay along with our black lab Betsy.

  Such a warm, comfortable place that has been beautifully decorated. The beds are very comfortable and the shower is great. The bottle of wine and flowers on arrival were so welcome. Thank you!

• "We loved this cosy house."

  Everything was so clean and smelt lovely as you walked in. There was plenty of information about parking etc and a welcome pack included red wine & delicious biscuits. There were even blankets on the sofa to cuddle up with if we felt chilly. The Halloween decorations went down a tear with our girls and it took only 5 mins to walk to the beach. We frequently book mini breaks at the coast and this was up there with our favourites. There would only be one other property that would beat this one and that one was nearly double the price. Great value for money. We left a couple of items behind and the lady owner very kindly offered to post. Thank you. We would highly recommend.

• "Lovely house, very clean and tidy."

  We found the mattress a bit soft so if one moved we both did. A wok would be a good addition, as a stir fry for 4 didn't work in the frying pan, so had to switch to saucepan. The rocking chair is not very comfortable, but as we weren't 5 it wasn't a problem

• "A lovely property, very clean and smelt wonderful."

  Decoration tasteful and no ornaments cluttering the place up. Comfortable beds and sofas. Washing machine and dishwasher in the kitchen, which was a bonus. Property is close to a well stocked shop and the local bus stops. Communication with the owner was pleasant but not intrusive. We felt well looked after.

• "Beautiful accommodation, and an ideal place for visiting the many resorts along the coast."

  Loved Sandsend! The relaxed feeling of the stay made up for one seriously bad weather day, knowing that we had such lovely accommodation to return to. Only marked down on comfort as we're used to a super king size bed, and the duvet could have been a little wider.

• "We had a very good stay at Faran House."

  Apart from the house being comfortable and well equipped with everything we could think of, including beds which were so perfect for us we didn’t want to get up in the mornings, it was ideally positioned for the car parking space round the corner at the owner’s house, the bus stop , the excellent fish and chip shop and the local co-op. It is an easy drive to the coastal villages and towns and the North York Moors. A bus trip to Whitby took 28 minutes and no parking to worry about. Thank you to the owner for the wine, biscuits and milk- very thoughtful. We had to leave a day early sadly but hope to return in the future.

• "Great property, absolutely spotless and beautifully decorated, five minutes to the edge of the pretty village of Staithes."

  The wine and biscuits were a lovely touch. We parked the car around the corner at the owners house (great idea!) and didn't use it all week, the bus stop with it's coastal service is on the doorstep and we used it to visit Whitby, Sandsend and Saltburn. Would definitely use Faran House when we next visit Staithes.

• "A spacious property ideally placed for exploring North Yorkshire with parking."

  Spotlessly clean and excellent facilities, comfy beds piping hot water, loved the bath and shower. Even provided beach towels. Owner very helpful and friendly and lovely couple next door. We were blessed with good weather so enjoyed the enclosed garden and the beaches. The book nook would have been a bonus in bad weather. The treats were appreciated by us and the dog. We stayed an extra night which was easy to sort as having such a good time.

• "The property was spotless and the equipment provided was very good We loved the little extras."

  Wine, biscuits dog treats eat. The location is handy for travelling about the coast. The only downside is the hill going into Staithes if you are disabled or short of breath it wouldn’t be for you. There is a pub close by for meals etc and a Co op 2-3 minutes away

• "What an absolutely fantastic home and location!"

  This home was beautifully decorated and kept uptodate. The house was spotless with modern furnishings and decor. The kitchen was fully equipped (there was even a dishwasher!) Abd the hosts left us some nice treats, thank you. It was very soacious and the children especially loved the garden space and book nook! Thank you for the games and wonderful books, this kept our kids occupied whilst we were in the house. Staithes is an absolute gem of a fishing village and this home was perfectly situated, allowing us to make casual walks down into the harbour/beach/rockpools, I highly recommend it. There is also a coop aroumd the corner. We visited beautiful beaches and villages nearby such as Saltburn, Runswick bay, Goathland and then a trip to Dalby Forest on the way home as it was alog the way. We appreciated the parking permit and free parking around the corner- there was a little difficulty on arrival as there was no space available despite having the permit so we had to walk back and forth a lot frol a nearby street with luggage until someone drove away. Overall I highly recommend staying here and in larticular visiting Staithes. Look forward to visiting again.

• "We had a comfortable few days stay at Faran House."

  What a lovely freshly decorated/renovated property, it was a real pleasure to stay here. I was worried about the no dogs upstairs policy initially, as our dog is used to roaming the whole house at home, but i was pleased to see a ‘dog stopper’ on the stairs upon arrival to make life easier… even if the dog wasn't a fan! There was an enclosed back garden which is great for children and dogs and the neighbours are really pleasant. Great location for Staithes with only a 10-15 minute walk to the beautiful harbour. A highly recommend fish shop on the door step, a Co-op around the corner for essentials and free off road parking at the owners property also around the corner, this was super handy and very much appreciated! This is a great base for discovering the North Yorks coast, so many beaches only a short drive away in either direction! Highly recommend :)

• "Nicely situated property (chip shop two doors down)."

  The information pack was a little bit lacking eg information about parking permits, recycling, and WiFi info.,also found it strange cooking utensils were in the dining room not the kitchen,these were just minor niggles (suggestions). We would certainly recommend this property and hope to go there again.

• "Lovely to be the first to stay in this beautifully presented property."

  Exceptionally clean and comfortable. Nice to have an enclosed back garden for the dogs. On road parking outside the house. Quiet area, short walk to shop, pub, cafe and harbour. Area is beautiful too. Weather was fantastic. Neighbours friendly. All in all a great experience.
