  • "We absolutely loved our stay, such a idillic location close to everything you’d need."

We will definitely returning but there are some super minor things I’d like to mention which if improved on could really make this perfect. As a note we stayed for 3 nights: Bins: Our bin was pretty full after day 2 but we couldn’t find any extra bin bags to swap it out. Bins 2: We only noticed the rubbish bins by the site entrance as we were checking out. The day before I took a load of rubbish down the road just to put them in the bin, I can’t believe I missed it, but the sign isn’t super obvious. Putting it on the outside of the enclosure will make it more noticeable. Toilet paper: We ran out on day 2, would have been nice if there were a few extra somewhere. We bought some from the super market so not a huge deal. Sofa bed: one of our sons was feeling poorly so I let him sleep in the double, I decided to sleep on the sofa bed but the mattress was still in its wrapping, I wasn’t sure if I should take it off or not so didn’t but made for a pretty uncomfortable nights sleep - this one’s probably on me tbf but wasn’t sure why the wrapping was on and didn’t want to be charged for damaging it or something. Wet feet: I think you’ll see this a lot. We loved the hot tub and it was great to relax there after a day exploring. However when getting out and coming back into the lodge we ended up with a load of water on the floor from our feet/legs pretty much every time. Could maybe benefit from a larger mat by the door or longer towers so we can be better dry by the time we’re coming back in to the lodge. Shower: when using the main shower for the first time I rotated the head to avoid it spraying out of the open sliding door, however it sprayed to the right where the shower door join is (if that makes sense) and a load of water ended up leaking out which isn’t ideal. Was very hard to get it started and the kids showered without getting a wet floor. Hot tub: might be useful to provide some basic instructions for how to use the hot tub. I googled the brand and found the instructions in the end, but something basic would stop people fiddling and possibly changing the wrong setting. Hair dryer: something my wife said would have been of benefit, but we did bring our own so very minor. Just to reiterate we absolutely loved our stay and none of these really detracted from our enjoyment, these are just minor things that would make the experience perfect.

  • "We really enjoyed our stay at Fir Lodge."

It was lovely and clean and in a very good location. A pub that serves decent food all day was in waking distance. Whitby and Robin Hoods Bay are only a sort drive away. We would recommend staying here! Thank you
