Just a short drive outside the village is the award winning Cedar Barn farm shop and café/restaurant with children's play area.
A couple of miles further along is the market town of Pickering, home of the North Yorkshire Moors Heritage Railway running across the moors to Whitby, travelling through Newtondale 'Yorkshire's own Grand Canyon' and calling at Goathland; home of Heartbeat.
Hemsley with its castle and Yorkshire's food capital Malton are well worth a visit, for a family day try Eden camp, Flamingoland or Castle Howard also the seaside towns of Scarborough and Whitby are easily accessible with everything they offer or perhaps try one of our favourites, Robin Hoods Bay, Boogle Hole, Sands End or Rievaulx Abbey.
