  • "We had a very enjoyable stay at the Piggery."

Very spacious, well equipped and amazing views during both the day and at night. Perfect base for exploring the central and western dales. We were blessed with really good weather which enhanced all the great locations we visited.

  • "The Piggery is a lovely cottage."

The cottage is set on a hill outside the village of East Morton on a farm. After a bone rattling car ride up the track the view from the cottage is amazing. Inside there is a utility room with laundry facilities and second loo. The kitchen has everything you need and the owners had left us some milk and eggs. The lounge is very comfy and has a smart TV. We didn’t find the TV that easy to control as the remote is very sensitive! The bedroom has plenty of storage and the bed is comfy. There is a nice en suite with walk in shower. We were fortunate to have sunny weather when we were there and the bedroom gets very hot as there is only one opening window. We could have opened the bedroom door and let the air through from the lounge but we don’t like the dog in the bedroom so we had the door shut. So maybe a fan would be welcomed? The garden was fine for our dog- it’s not enclosed but our dog just pottered about the grassy area in front. All in all a lovely place to sit with a g&t and watch the wildlife - we saw housemartins, red kites, buzzards, an owl, pheasants and a kestrel. We’d definitely go back. A visitors book would be good for people to leave tips for places to visit& eat out etc . We had day trips to Ilkley, Grassington, Bolton Abbey and a walk along the canal at Five Rise Locks.

  • "The Piggery was a beautiful cottage equipped with everything you could possibly need for a comfortable holiday."

The location was stunning with fantastic views. The hosts were friendly and welcoming. The only down side was, as others have mentioned, the track up to the cottage which did take a bit of negotiating. This would not however put us off returning.

  • "The property is of a very high standard throughout - spacious, well equipped, everything you need for a self catering holiday."

Amazing views over open countryside. Relaxing and peaceful. Lovely owners on hand to give information on the local area. The only slight concern is the drive up to the property - it is mentioned in the information that it is unsuitable for some vehicles - we have a 4 x 4 and still found it difficult to negotiate.

Fiona and her husband were very friendly and welcoming, thank you for the fresh eggs and milk. The track to the cottage was rather bumpy but keeping in a low gear helped and it certainly wouldn’t put us off staying here again. Thank you both for your hospitality.

The aim of the weekend was to relax and we definitely achieved that. The owner was lovely and stopped by for a chat but unintrusive. The local walks were great and it was easy travel to other sites of interest. We went to the local pub which was friendly to humans and dogs!

The views are breathtaking, The owners and their family are helpful and welcoming. Lovely garden to let the dogs out first thing in the morning, or to sit and join you in the garden admiring the views. Location is great for local attractions and the village pub a short walk away is well worth a visit. I cannot recommend The Piggery highly enough. 5 stars all round from us! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

  • "Beautiful renovated property the Piggery is home from home."

We didn’t have any problem with the unmade road up to the property. The views are stunning even in the terrible weather we had but watched it coming in over the valley from the comfort of the lounge through the big patio windows. The views are amazing. Fiona introduced herself to us and said to contact her if anything we needed. Definitely stay again.

Perfect for relaxing in the evening, looking at a gorgeous view through the patio doors in the lounge. Very helpful owners who are just next door if you need anything. Tips for other travellers: We traveled to Bolton Abbey (gorgeous), St Ives Estate, Ilkley Moor, Howarth, Goit Waterfalls and visited Bingley 5 Rise locks then walked down the canal to Saltaire. All lovely dog walks and fairly easy.

  • "A fantastic property and a wonderful stay."

Great views up and down the Aire valley and in easy reach of all facilities. Probably the best rental apartment/cottage we have stayed in. Very spacious living and sleeping areas. A very efficient wood burning stove to add to the background heat created by the ground source system. Very helpful and friendly owners who live nearby.

  • "The Piggery is perfect!"

Outstanding views with walks straight from the property, immaculate and spacious. Kitchen fully equipped, including tea towels, cleaning products, salt/pepper/oil etc. Useful folder with recommendations for walks, restaurants, places to visit. We were joined by our baby and 2 dogs and we had plenty of space - owner offered travel cot and high chair when we arrived. The garden isn't enclosed, however the owners are very friendly and understanding if a dog goes for a wonder. We didn't find the driveway as problematic as other reviewers - it's bumpy but definitely accessible in a car.

Pictures do not do it justice. Friendly owners who kindly brought us fresh eggs on our first day. Would advise to take own bath towels as those provided were not really adequate for a weeks stay. Track up to property was a nightmare.... Don't think there was one day when my partner didn't swear about it and we have a hilux truck!!!!!

  • "The Piggery was quite outstanding."

Everything was perfect. It was very clean, extremely well appointed and to a very high standard. There were lovely views across the hills and valleys. It was suitable for dogs - even had an outdoor washing facility with hot and cold water but there was one drawback. there was no enclosed garden and, if your dog has a tendency to chase birds, you should be warned that free range chickens parade past the cottage on a regular basis! The approach track, although 300 yards long, was nowhere near as bad as we were expecting and, if taken slowly, was not a problem.

  • "A lovely property in a beautiful situation."

Very clean and comfortable and the owners who live on site are friendly and helpful without being intrusive. There are walks from the property, up onto the moors if you don’t mind hills. There are lots of places to see within easy driving distance and places to eat which are dog friendly. Although out of village supermarkets and food outlets will deliver. As stated on the description the road up is quite rough but there are plans to improve it and it wouldn’t put us off returning, which we hope to do.

  • "The property itself was really nice."

No expense spared. The surroundings were beautiful and it was amazing to see little lambs in the field next door. Walks from the door and nice area to explore. Really nice walks within short driving distances too. Some cracking little pubs nearby too. Not quite within walking distance but driveable. Made a friend with the owners dog he is amazing! A few items to be aware of if you plan on visiting. The road upto the cottage is very rough. If you have a small car you will struggle. I have an AWD and I was surprised I didn't damage my car going up and down it. Bring your own basic condiments such as salt, pepper, cooking oil, foil etc otherwise all washing and dishwasher items are supplied. Heating is controlled by the owner via an app. The actual control is abit tricky to override if you don't know how to use it and unless you have the fire going you won't feel the affects of underfloor heating. The owner in future should explain to people staying how you override it. There was no welcome pack. Need to supply a book as of yet there isn't anything with any guidance or instructions. The property would also benefit from a key safe so that on departure you can leave your key safely. The owner wasn't there when we left on the morning so we had to leave it with next door. With some minor tweaks and improvements this place would be perfect.

  • "We had a wonderful week here in March!"

We were greeted by the owner who was really friendly and welcoming! Our year old Springer was immediately at home with plenty of space to run around and was welcomed with a pack of dog biscuits! The cottage is beautiful and had everything we needed and more, it was a real home from home. Probably the only things I could think to add would be a separate bin for recycling and an information pack! When we had an issue with the heating, it was immediately rectified even though it was into the evening! We were able to walk out from the cottage and explore the surrounding area and just at the bottom of the lane we had a lovely meal in the local pub which is alongside a great community shop! The views from the cottage are so beautiful, and sitting with coffee in the morning and a glass of wine late afternoon admiring them, meant that we went home totally relaxed! A week just didn’t feel long enough so we will definitely be going back!

  • "We had an amazing stay at The Piggery."

The photographs really do not do this place justice, it was absolutely spotless and had everything us/our dogs needed and more. The owner was extremely welcoming and even put a real Christmas tree up for us as we stayed throughout Christmas. The views from The Piggery are stunning and the walks were fantastic, loads of public footpaths leading right from the property and you can walk for miles all over the moors. The property is close enough to essential shops/local town if you need anything but far away enough that you feel like you’re completely rural in miles of beautiful countryside. We’ll definitely be booking again and cannot recommend this place enough for a relaxing break and especially with furry friends!
