Outside furniture was a nice touch, both a picnic style bench and very comfy chairs with a little table. High standard of furnishings throughout. We really appreciated the home baking and basket of goodies. We walked a lot and so nice to come back to such a restful place. Would thoroughly recommend this place, especially having morning coffee outside watching the fish in the pond, and seeing the horses.

The bed was very comfortable and the property was well decorated and in good condition. Excellent rural location between Sutton Bank Visitor Centre and the old Hambleton racecourse. We would happily return. Appreciated the cakes and biscuits left for our arrival. Plenty of walks locally for our dog in rural settings and off the main road. A beautiful area on the edge of the North Yorkshire Moors.

  • "My dog and I had a lovely stay."

Very clean cottage and super comfy bed with luxurious bedding. Well equipped kitchen although I couldn't find the tea towels! Great location for dog walks and such a treat to have the most fantastic view at nearby Sutton Bank. Lovely little cakes and daffs on the table were appreciated. Only one niggle was that the underfloor heating was a bit too efficient and I would have liked to moderate the heat especially in the evening. Such a lovely part of the world - we will be back!

  • "We booked extremely close to the booking - just 15 hrs before."

None of it was a problem to the very busy owners and we even arrived to home baked cakes. Also, we had to extend our stay at very late notice as we had moved out of our home in Lincolnshire and were awaiting completion on our house in North Yorkshire (which dragged on frustratingly). Again this was not an issue to the owners. A lovely, comfortable, warm and homely stay.

  • "The Byre is a compact and cosy cottage in spectacular surroundings at the top of Sutton Bank."

The cottage itself is quite small but has been thoughtfully laid out and equipped so you have everything you need. It was spotlessly clean and the shower was hot and powerful, always a bonus. The courtyard garden is lovely. The owners were pleasant and friendly, unobtrusive but there if you needed them. Dog-friendly and it's dog heaven as there is a forest with trails directly out the front of the cottage, and out the back your are straight onto the Cleveland Way where you can walk for miles in both directions with spectacular views. We had a great week and would have no hesitation in recommending The Byre.

Welcome cakes and biscuits a lovely touch. Comfortable bed, good shower and great to have access to Netflix. We would just say the property in places looks a bit tired, the bathroom door frame half painted, air vent dirty and cooker very dirty. It is peaceful, and has brilliant dog walks right from the front door. Every single thing has been thought of for the most comfortable stay. The welcome box and cakes were delightful, and the bed with the pillows (of which I have just ordered the same!!) made for the best nights sleep. If you like horses, you can see the race horses from the local horse racing trainer yards, doing their training each morning, which is a magnificent spectacle to see. Plenty towns and villages around to drive to, and the Kilburn White Horse is a nice walk to do from the cottage also. All in all a brilliant holiday, and we would definitely return.

Very cosy and beautifully warm as it was very cold. The owners Liz and Graham were excellent hosts. They were very busy lambing at the time so didn't see them a lot. Both of them were very accommodating as I am disabled and helped me out. Would recommend any couple who love Yorks hire to stay in their lovely cottage. Loved seeing the race horses exercising on the gallops and although we never got to Castle Howard, we did pass it and it looks fabulous. Would definitely stay again. Its location gives many options for keen walkers and those with dogs and the views from Sutton Bank across Yorkshire are spectacular. As stated it is located in a working farm and we were able to roam around the fields with our young retriever (whom made friends with the horses and sheep) freely BUT you must have regard for the farm animals and the property by keeping your dog (s) on leads and clean up after them . The owners Liz and Craig are very helpful, kind and friendly ( as is their little puppy) and we look forward to visiting them again soon..
