Met all our requirements. Comfortable, roomy, the sky deck was awesome but just lost the evening sun due to the trees. (Can’t control the sun, ). Only suggestion would be an Inventry of equipment, like there were no tongs for cooking. Otherwise perfect, thanks.

  • "Very nice property in the beautiful countryside."

Just ten minutes drive from the delightful town of Barnard Castle. The property had a nice entrance area with space to store some gear and stairs to main accommodation. There is a nice second bedroom which we used for storage and the main living area with a very well equipped kitchen and comfortable lounge area. The thing that attracted us was the huge balcony/deck area outside which has a table and chairs and view over the garden and woodland. On the top floor is the lovely main bedroom which is very spacious. Guests are free to roam the woodland and use the firepit which is a wonderful way to spend an evening. There are lots of things to do in the area. If you need supplies there are many shops in Barnard Castle but look online for the farm shop with the Camels! I'd also highly recommend a ride on the Weardale Railway and the Teesside Princess cruise from Stockton on Tees.

We were a party of 4 mature women had a great week celebrating our friend's 60th birthday and though it was a really cold week we managed to drive to visit Richmond, York, Masham, Northallerton and The Tan Hills Inn (a really great experience if you fancy a visit!) Plenty of walks on the area, especially around the many reservoirs high up in the North Pennines, where it certainly blows! Shopping delights in nearby Barnard Castle (Barny to the locals). One thing to watch, is that fuel filling stations are few and very far between, so watch that fuel gauge.

The spaciousness, tranquility and quality of the accommodation was first rate. Easy access and plenty of parking. Lots of great walking from the door if you're not bothered by the steep hills. We did it several times pushing a pram. When you are in the upstairs en-suite bedroom you can't hear what's going on downstairs which was great with our 14 month grandson who gets up a lot earlier than we do these days. A must visit is to go and have a drink with Paul at the Kirk Inn :-)

Set in a little woodland it is magical and clearly the family have created a great outdoor play arena for children with lots of little foci! The murmuration of starlings nature laid on for us to watch from the decking was amazing each sunset, bit noisy at sunrise, but that’s nature. Our only advice would be more crockery and cutlery. One of the party worked in hospitality and suggests that with a dishwasher you need enough for three times the number of occupants so you don’t have to keep washing up. We thoroughly enjoyed the base for our stay in Teasdale and would recommend it.

It is so well situated for easy access to Teesdale and a wonderful location for walking. We did three magnificent walks in the locality one from the cottage. On other days we explored the dale towns and villages and the walled garden attached to the hall down the road kept us busy for a couple of hours followed by a visit to the garden tearooms which serve cakes to die for. The cottage is so well appointed and very comfortable. We enjoyed cooking our evening meals in the very well equipped kitchen. Although the cottage is connected to the owners house it is so well designed that you felt as though you had the place to yourself. The owners, John and Emily could not have been more helpful. The only surprising aspect was the road noise bearing in mind the main bedroom and balcony face to the rear away from the road. Traffic passes quite fast and the road surface is of course grit that creates a lot of tyre noise. Such a beautiful location though, escape to the circular bench and firepit with a wonderful view for peace and quiet. Conveniently located for wonderful Tees walks and excellent restaurants, our favourites were the Forresters in Middleton and the Rose and Crown in Romalkirk. Easy day out to wonderful Durham and to Richmond and Swaledale. Stunning roads over to Weardale and up as far as Alston.
