  • "Really enjoyed our stay."

The property is very welcoming, clean, well equipped, comfortable, and spacious enough for 4 people in a quiet part of the resort. It's conveniently located to use the on site facilities and you're just a short drive from Filey and Scarborough. Couldn't have been better as we had great weather all week as well

  • "Lovely cottage,warm and cosy."

Well equipped with all the essentials( a small wok and extra frying pan would have been useful). The walk from the cottage to the beach with our small dog took longer than expected, about 15-20 mins,so we went instead to nearby Hunmanby Gap which is lovely, with good, reasonably priced parking, excellent Beach Cafe and great beach. We enjoyed our stay at Stak's Cottage and would recommend it for those looking for a relaxing break.

  • "Oven and oven tray were really dirty and doesn’t appear to have been cleaned for quite some time."

Kettle needed descaling. Skylight in hallway not been cleaned and looked dusty. Had to phone maintenance company twice as dodgy electrics power kept tripping in kitchen. Water scalding hot. Lovely little cottage which I would book again if the above gets sorted

  • "Property was comfortable incredibly quiet and generally well equipped but carpets and suite need to be cleaned."

We were very disappointed to find that there was virtually no washing up liquid, no dishwasher tablets, no scourer or surface wiper and no spare toilet roll. These we would expect as a minimum. In our experience it is also usual to expect salt, pepper, cooking oil in self catering accommodation. It is also welcome to find milk, tea(there were a few tea bags) and biscuits. There was no welcome pack with details about the property site or the area. No personal communication from the owner. There was minimal provision of games, books etc.. Not an issue for us but would certainly have been significant if children had been staying. With a few tweaks this property could be very good.

  • "We have stayed at many properties at the bay and love the location of staks cottage."

The cottage is very comfortable and warm .A couple of things that would be in my opinion would make it even better are a small information pack I know we have Google these days but on arrival would make it simpler. The other thing I would say is a blind at the patio as the other cottages can see into your living room. This wouldn't stop me booking staks again A lovely home.

  • "We had a fantastic stay at the Staks Cottage, the location was lovely and the cottage itself has all you need."

The only thing i would have liked to have is an information pack for the house and resort, swimming information, restaurants, and local things to do ect as the wifi worked for about a day.

  • "Property was comfortable, good location, the only issue we had was the utensils, not clean, cups were terribly stained, wine glasses had lipstick on them, cutlery water stain obviously came straight out of dishwasher into the draw with out been wipe, and the cooking tongs were melted on one side."

Apart from these issues we wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again. Thank you

  • "Staks Cottage was the perfect location for us to stay on Holiday this year."

Tucked away in a quiet corner of the holiday village, the property is decorated beautifully, features all of the facilities we needed during our week's stay and we had good communication from Darren the owner. Our only criticisms are that the Wi-Fi was often slow and we would warn future residents that the taps can get scalding hot very quickly!

It is clean, comfortable and quiet, and in a great position for exploring the local area. We loved lounging on the comfy sofas after a long day out. The communication from the owner was also excellent. We will definitely be back!

About the location

FILEY

Scarborough 7.7 miles; Bridlington 10.5 miles.

Set in the magnificent Filey Bay, Filey is a traditional English seaside resort with a friendly atmosphere, offering a restful holiday, making it an ideal place to stay for walkers and wildlife watchers at any time of the year. Filey Brigg is a low headland that protects Filey Bay and provides good bird watching and seawatching opportunities all year round. The 400 ft high Bempton Cliffs (RSPB Reserve) to the south of Filey Bay are home to over 250,000 seabirds in the summer. The town itself seems almost caught in a time warp, retaining much of its character with individual shops, narrow paths and ginnels and there is a slipway where local fishermen keep their boats, plus delightful beach chalets that can be hired through the summer months. The bay is edged with two promenades and there are various gardens, where brass bands play on a Sunday afternoon. This small town is family orientated and there are loads of family activities such as Alpamare UK waterpark, Filey Bird Garden and Animal Park and the Filey Dams Nature Reserve, a wetland reserve where all kinds of common and rare birdlife can be seen. A short drive brings you to the busier town of Scarborough where you will find great beaches, a castle, the Rotunda Museum and the acclaimed Sea Life Centre. Other towns worth visiting close to Filey include Bridlington, Whitby, Hornsea and Saltburn, which all demonstrate the vibrancy of this picturesque North Yorkshire region.
