  • "Smart, modern, clean apartment."

Kitchen was well equipped and had everything we needed. Great balcony to sit out on and take in the fantastic sea views. Welcome pack was full of treats. Owners friendly and helpful. We would recommend this property for a relaxing break. Brian and Angie October 2024

  • "Disappointed with our stay."

Although the property was nice with beautiful views and brilliant location. I booked the property on the ground floor (mostly for the bath) for a weeks stay on a break from working away for 3months. That property flooded before our arrival so we were moved to the top of the property (no bath) Understood these things happen and can’t be helped. I had to go sort some business out through the week back home for one night/day. I was intending leaving my partner there and then her mum and son were going to take my place for that day/night. We have done this at times at other properties when I’m home from work I often book a week away and never faced an issue until now. The owner initially said this was fine. Then it seems after consulting her husband they said no we can’t do that citing a few reasons such as this would mucky the bedding (we already sleep separately as the missis is a very rough sleeper so the extra beds we’re already used) if we weren’t allowed to mucky the spare bed this should of been in the t&cs;. They stated that Sykes take too much of a cut to enable this as they take too much off them..surely the percentage remains the same if you don’t want a cut taking perhaps reconsider using booking agent. And they said it effects the insurance which we then thought was fair enough if that were the case but upon a closer look at the small print they were insured it was entirely up to their discretion therefore lied for their reasoning. I find it very inhospitable it would of caused no issue or difference to allow my partners oap mum and son who is 16 not a messy noisy toddler so I can’t see the problem or why they saw this as such an issue the house slept 4. We won’t be returning and won’t recommend.

I am sorry you are disappointed with The Waves. You did book Under The Waves which is a one bedroom property for two people. Due to a flood in Under The Waves we upgraded you free of charge to the more expensive Waves, however your booking was still for two people. Our terms and condition state that only the people named on the booking can stay at the property so it was not acceptable for you to have 4 people staying at the property when you have only booked and paid for a one bedroom apartment. About the location

FILEY

Scarborough 7.7 miles; Bridlington 10.5 miles.

Filey is a traditional English seaside resort with a friendly atmosphere, offering a restful holiday, making an ideal place to stay for walkers and wildlife watchers at any time of the year. A real gem on the Yorkshire coast. A fishing town on the North East Coast, Filey has enjoyed a reputation of being a resort since Victorian times, set beside the magnificent Filey Bay, a long stretch of beautiful sand, with Filey Brigg and its shallow rockpools to the north. Filey Brigg is a low headland that protects Filey Bay and provides good bird watching and seawatching opportunities all year round. The 400 ft high Bempton Cliffs (RSPB Reserve) to the south of Filey Bay are home to over 250,000 seabirds in the summer. Gannets, kittiwakes, puffins, guillimots and razorbills all nest there. Gannets are regularly seen diving for fish in Filey Bay. The Brigg area is an ideal place to watch for common and rarer waders, seabirds and migrating warblers, finches and thrushes. As well as seabirds, seals and other marine life, such as porpoises dolphins and minke whales can be seen in the sea around the Brigg. The town itself seems almost caught in a time warp, retaining much of its character with individual shops, narrow paths and ginnels. There is a small coble landing, a slipway where local fishermen keep their boats, plus delightful beach chalets that can be hired through the summer months. The bay is edged with two promenades and there are various gardens, where brass bands play on a Sunday afternoon. This small town is family orientated, crazy golf and candy floss. Also in Filey there is the Filey Dams Nature Reserve, a wetland reserve where common and rare waders and wildfowl can be seen as well as autumn gatherings of swallows, sand martins and house martins. Also there is Parish Wood (just off Sycamore Avenue) an unexpected gem that offers a wealth of wildlife. Willow warbler, chiffchaff, blackcap and tree sparrows breed there and a wide variety of other species are regularly seen such as great spotted woodpeckers and sparrow hawks. Parish Wood also provides shelter and food for a wide range of migrant bird species such as goldcrests, pied and spotted flycatchers, warblers, finches, thrushes and woodcocks. A short drive brings you to the busier town of Scarborough where for family fun you can visit the Alpamare Waterpark, a waterpark unlike anything the UK has ever seen before, as well as plenty to explore and discover in this lovely area.
