  • "We had an enjoyable stay."

The property was warm and comfortable and good for 2 people (+ our small dog). There’s a pub opposite and a local store too which was handy. Parking is on the road which worked out fine for us but it was quite full occasionally. We always managed to get a spot directly outside near the bus stop, It’s a great location for visiting Robin Hoods Bay(15-20min walk) Whitby and the surrounding area. If you don’t want to drive then the bus is a good option with the bus stop virtually on the doorstep. £4 each (as of Oct 2024) gets you right into the centre of Whitby and back. It also runs past other coastal attractions both north and south.

  • "We enjoyed a comfortable stay at Newton cottage it was homely and everything we expected."

Parking is first come first served but was not an issue for us .Thank you for a lovely stay. Would recommend this property. Note to sykes holidays Don't contact clients at beginning of their holiday and certainly mid holiday at 6.30 am asking how's your holiday it will wake them up. Thank you.

  • "Lovely cosy little cottage."

Well equipped and comfortable too stay in. Parking can be a bit of a problem at busy times, but you can leave the car at base, and have some lovely walks. Or as I did on one occasion to Whitby, by bus from door easier than finding car park in town. Only criticism I have! Is the little courtyard at the back is in need of some TLC, it could be pretty and cosy to enhance cottage.

Thanks for your lovely feedback & so pleased to hear you enjoyed your stay. It’s our first year letting Newton cottage, & it’s our next years plan to work on the cottage yard, hope you get to enjoy it next year, Thanks from the Simms family. Property Owner

  • "Really lovely cottage in a perfect location."

The cottage has everything you need, plus a wonderful dog friendly pub across the road which was a bonus. Lovely walks on the doorstep, and Robin Hoods Bay is literally a 15 minute walk away.

  • "Newton cottage is a beautiful little cottage in the lovely village of Fylingthorpe."

It is perfectly situated for the local shop and pub. It is beautifully decorated and very comfortable. The only criticism is that there are no warnings about low beams over the bed and the shower door is very low too. After two smacks to the head, we learnt to duck.

Thanks for your lovely feedback & sorry for your bumped head, being just over 5” myself its something I’d not thought of (lol) I will put a notice in the info book to avoid future bumps Property Owner

  • "Beautifully modern without losing its cottage feel."

Luxury bedding and towels with a nice touch of tea coffee and milk left for us. With a little shop and pub close by it was perfect. Surrounded by beach walks to one side and country walks to the other absolutely perfect! We will definitely be back.

Thanks for your lovely feedback, so pleased you enjoyed your stay. Hope to see you again soon Property Owner

  • "A perfect cottage for two!"

Very cosy and spotlessly clean. The location was amazing; pub just across the road, a shop within 20 metres and the bus stop to Whitby or Scarborough just outside. A short 15minute walk takes you to Robin Hood's Bay. We will definitely be back.

Thanks for your lovely feedback, & so sorry for the very late reply, I’m just getting the hang of everything & not the greatest had using the owners app, hope to welcome you back in the future. Thanks from the Simms family. Property Owner

  • "A lovely cottage; situated close to a shop and pub."

Within walking distance to Robin Hood Bay and the old railway line which is between Whitby and Scarborough. Not a great back garden but lots of space outside if you have a dog with you. Very clean and cosy

Thanks for your lovely feedback,& stay at Newton cottage back in May, we apologise for the very late reply, I’ve had trouble getting on the owners app. We’re looking forward to working on the cottage yard next year & keeping up with improvements. Thanks from the Simms family. Property Owner

About the location

FYLINGTHORPE

Robin Hood's Bay 0.6 miles; Whitby 5.2 miles; Scarborough 15.8 miles.

Resting within a stone's throw of the delightful fishing village of Robin Hood's Bay is the sweet village of Fylingthorpe. Lying inland from the coast following a steep winding road, this settlement was most likely of Scandinavian origin from the 9th century, and is today a bustling village scattered with quaint cottages and several amenities. Pick up some fresh loaves from the little bakery Barnard's or stock up on some essentials from the local shop, Thorpe Stores. The Fylingdales Inn offers a welcoming place to sip a pint after a busy day of walking the North Yorkshire coast, while a wider selection of pubs and bars can be found in the neighbouring village of Robin Hood's Bay, with some even providing a picturesque sea view. From here hop onto the Cleveland Way when you are beginning to explore and walk up to the wonderful Whitby town centre, where a host of delights await you; visit the eerie Whitby Abbey, said to have inspired Bram Stoker when he wrote Dracula, and then walk down the 199 Steps towards the beach. Enjoy wandering around Whitby Museum, take a Whitby Storyteller Guided Walk, or go to The Endeavour Experience to learn about how sailing was years ago. Fylingthorpe makes for a wonderful base to discover the host of attractions of North Yorkshire.
