"Property well maintained, comfortable and clean."
Lovely location. Pub shown as only a mile away, downhill going, massive climb back so I would not recommend walking, especially in the dark.

"We stayed at Lanes Barn as we were attending a wedding in Danby."
This was the perfect location for us and the cottage was amazing. Very clean and warm with everything we needed for an enjoyable stay.

E. rusty and dirty. Note left for the owner.

A comfy place to return to after exploring the beautiful North York Moors.

"Lanes Barn has everything you need for you holiday."
Everything was spotlessly clean and the beds really comfortable. If it had an ev charging point, that would have been the cherry cake for me. Would we stay here again definitely. Ps thanks for the wine

"On pulling out of the drive, it would be helpful if a mirror was on the left hand wall."
It would be advantageous in being able to see oncoming traffic approaching from the right as we found it's a bit of a blind spot.

"The property was excellent and very clean with everything we needed,"
-
"Great accommodation, Nice relaxing break ."
Pub was a lot further away from what I thought it was from the description in the Sykes description but overall I would return as it was a nice location.
-
"We had a very relaxed and comfortable stay in Lanes Barn, the facilities of the barn were second to none."
The village and surrounding moors are fun to explore. The only criticism at all was that you had to watch where you walked outside the barn for ducks droppings, other than that a great holiday!

Amazing property everything we needed, lovely owner was helpful, nice peaceful location will definitely be booking to go back here

"Loved the cottage and the surrounding area."
Wifi and the smart TV and Alexa was a bonus (not mentioned on the listing) and the kitchen was very well equipped. Pillow protectors however should be on the pillows for hygiene purposes. Thank you for a lovely stay.

"Amazing property, well looked after, would definitely stay again"
-
"Lovely property, cosy and warm and beautifully furnished."
This property had everything we needed for our stay. Doesn't advertise WiFi but pleasantly surprised that we had it when we got there. Lovely area to stay and a great base and we would love to return again. Would recommend.

"Great barn conversion."
Clean and warm and fitted with everything needed for a 14 day stay.

"Lanes Barn is at the end of the long pretty village of Glaisdale (11 miles from Whitby) on the main road through the village."
The pictures reflect the property, there is no real view as this is mostly hidden by the neighbours buildings. If you do not live in a rural location the sheep, hens and ducks are a joy in the fields next to the property. Internet is now at the property which will be a must for most guests. We were traveling with an 84 year old with mobility issues, so the large downstairs bathroom (really lovely) and bedroom was a real plus, with only a couple of stairs to the open plan living room area. The location is perfect for walkers, we are cyclists, but would not recommend cycling in this area unless you are a very strong club cyclist or have an electric bike. We would also assume you would need four wheel drive in the winter months. The property was very clean, well equipped with lots of hot running water. All the beds had very heavy winter quilts on, making sleeping very uncomfortable throughout the August week we visited. None of us slept well throughout the week, this was coupled with blinds which let the light into both rooms. The property needs blackout blinds/curtains to keep the light out of the rooms to aid sleep and summer weight quilts in the summer months. These two very simple issues to resolve, spoilt our holiday, as by day 7 we were all very tired from lack of sleep. Ilkley - West Yorkshire - Summer 2022

"Beautiful barn conversion set in wonderful surroundings with excellent facilities - home from home."
Would certainly like to return.

"Lovely accommodation with good access to National Park."
-
"Wonderful cottage."
Extremely welcoming property owners. Thank you for a lovely stay

"The accommodation was five star"
-
"Lane’s barn is perfectly situated on the edge of a village, very quiet and peaceful."
The accommodation is beautifully presented and very comfortable and homely. The two bathrooms are a bonus if more than one couple are staying. The local shop and butcher is 10 minutes walk away, and the pub at the bottom of the village is welcoming and serves a very nice Sunday lunch. We will definitely be staying here again.

"The barn was a delightful home from home, perfect for exploring the coast and countryside."
It was very well equipped, clean and comfortable and had excellent WiFi. The lambs in the adjoining field were a joy to watch when we returned late afternoon from our travels!
-
"Beautiful cottage in lovely location."
Everything was perfect. Ideal spot for exploring the area.
-
"One of the best cottages we have stayed in."
Very clean and comfortable and no WiFi and poor mobile phone reception meant you could really relax .
-
"Lovely few days ."
Great cottage ,very clean. Great location for exploring the area.

"We were very disappointed to fine that that there was no WiFi facility provided so we could not use our Tablet."
The TV set with DVD/CD playing facilities had been rep[lace with a new TV without these facilities. Glaisdale is split into two distinct parts and the pub was not in the part where we were staying. The road between the two parts is unlit, has no paving, with an unrestricted speed limit, so walking to the pub was not a reasonable proposition particularly after dark
Thank you for your feedback. The property is not advertised as having WiFi, which is why there is no facility. We can confirm that there is a working DVD player available for all guests and the pub is within 1 mile of the property, as per the listing. Property Owner

"Highly recommended."
Very comfortable.ideal for sightseeing.not far from Whitby and railways .Great scenery. Lanes barn is well equipped all that you need at this accommodation.
-
"The cottage is in an excellent location for access to the moors, the dales, the coast and the steam trains."
-
"The view from the Barn was great and the visit from the farm cat everyday was brilliant."
-
"The barn has been converted beautifully and is maintained to a very high standard."
Unlike some properties this one is ideal for 4 adults whilst still being equally suited to a family of 4. The main living airy is spacious, light and airy. Both bedrooms are well laid out and have ample, practical storage. Having 2 bathrooms makes it perfect! If planning another holiday in this beautiful part of Yorkshire we would definitely return.
-
"Very good cottage, very clean and comfortable."
Happy to take you last minute. No wifi in the area . Would stay there again
-
"This is an excellent location for a walking holiday; within five minutes walk from the property there is a choice of footpaths, and the nearby countryside varies from upper moorland to riverside walks."
Moreover, the coast is easily accessible with Whitby, Robin Hood's Bay and Runswick Bay to choose from.
-
"A lovely stay."
The accommodation is warm and cosy with everything you need. All appliances work perfectly and everywhere tastefully furnished whilst maintaining a homely feel. The views at the rear of the barn are beautiful and there are lovely country walks to take from the barn. The owner is extremely friendly helpful, should you need to contact her.

"The cottage had everything we needed and was very comfortable and spotless."
The only problem we had was dealt with immediately and the bottle of wine was a nice touch. We hope to return soon
-
"We di not book this holiday but was transferred there by Sykes."
On first arriving the outside was a bit of a disappointment but once in side WOW. The owner had gone out of their way to get it ready at short notice, and this was very much appreciated. The cottage was perfect inside and the addition of ornaments and a beautiful mirror in the living room added to the whole effect. We enjoyed staying there and the company of a cat that made friends with us on arrival. It disappeared each night but was back in the morning.

"Cottage was perfect."
-
"Lovely location shame about the restricted view, the locals were very friendly and helpful."
Would have been good to have table and chairs where there was a good view across valley. Lots of good walks, close to the coast. Wonderful fish and chip in Whitby at the Magpie.
-
"Cottage was beautiful and very well done throughout nice and cosy love the underfloor heating and great views with plenty of parking."
Hosts left us a lovely bottle of white wine which was a nice touch. Having a downstairs bedroom was great for my grandma. The only two little criticisms would be that it has no WiFi and as I run a business if I hadn’t had good internet package on my phone it could of been an issue, secondly there is a radiator in top bedroom but had no idea how to get it to turn on so was little on the chilly side with it been a really cold week in Feb would of been nice to have the option to heat that room. These are only small issues overall we loved the cottage and will certainly book again, fantastic place with lots to do only a short drive away

Where you’ll be staying
GLAISDALE
Whitby 9 miles; Pickering 21 miles.
A peaceful village on the edge of the North York Moors National Park, Glaisdale is set amongst beautiful countryside in the heart of the Esk Valley. The village itself has a post office in the general store, an excellent butcher (famed for his pork pies) and one hotel/pub, with restaurant. Further afield, Whitby and the coast are just 9 miles away whilst the quaint moorland villages of Hutton-le-Hole, Lastingham and Thornton Dale and the market town of Pickering are all within easy touring distance. For something a little quieter, why not take a trip to the less-discover gem of Saltburn by the Sea, a charming, Victorian seaside resort. The terminus of the North York Moors Railway is at nearby Grosmont, inviting you to take a steam railway ride back in history through beautiful moorland scenery.
