  • "Home from home, everything inside was absolutely perfect."

A very high standard. The shared garden with the other connecting cottages are Beautiful, but boundaries are unsafe for dogs

Thank you so much for your lovely review! We’re thrilled to hear that you found the cottage to be a "home from home" and that everything inside met your expectations to such a high standard. We’re also glad you enjoyed the shared garden space—it really is a beautiful area. We do appreciate your feedback regarding the garden boundaries. We’re pleased to share that we have plans in place to add secure fencing around our properties to provide a safe space for pets to roam freely. Thank you again for your kind words, and we hope to welcome you back for another stay soon! Warm regards, Jacki and The Team at The Grange Holidays Property Owner

  • "The holiday cottage was nice and clean but attention needed to some aspects: Coffe Machine not working properly and leaked badly Fridge freezer badly needs defrosting, drawers in freezer difficult to open due to build up of ice Bathroom door did not lock Would not recommend Sykes Cottages due to inaccuracy of listing (ie enclosed garden), also very difficult to speak to anyone and didn’t respond to emails."

Only made verbal contact when the owner of the cottage got involved

Dear Phillip, Thank you for your review and for bringing these issues to our attention. We're glad to hear that you found the holiday cottage nice and clean, but we're sorry to learn about the problems you experienced during your stay. If we had been informed about the bathroom door not locking and the coffee machine leaking, we would have taken steps to rectify these issues promptly. Regarding the fridge freezer, it is defrosted periodically by housekeeping, and we've made them aware of the situation. We appreciate your feedback, as guest experiences are very important to us. We also apologise for any confusion regarding the listing of the enclosed garden space. Your comfort and satisfaction are our priorities, and we value your comments. We hope you enjoyed your stay overall and appreciated the extra treats we provided during your visit. Thank you again for your feedback, and we hope you might consider staying with us again in the future by booking direct, giving us an opportunity to provide you with a more enjoyable experience. Warmest regards Jacki and The Team at The Grange Holidays Property Owner

It's wonderful to know that you felt at home in the spacious property and enjoyed the welcome pack for your dog, as well as the drinks and biscuits for yourselves. • "Firstly, the main complaint we had was the no secure garden for our 3 dogs."

The cottage next to us did have a fenced off garden. We were informed by the maintainer that all the cottages are being given Fenced off gardens gradually as we were not the only people to complain. The electric oven didn't work, so we had a new one two days before leaving. So prior to that we were using the microwave or going to the local pub, that was brilliant food. There was no vacuum, broom/mop in the cottage so it was difficult to keep the floor clean . We don't like to leave any property with mess. My husband did get a vacuum from the laundry room (wasn't sure if that was correct). The area wasn't ideal for dogs, we only found one good beech for them to have a good run around.

Dear Karyn, Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We appreciate your comments and apologise for the inconveniences you experienced during your stay. We understand your concern regarding the lack of a secure garden for your dogs. We're in the process of gradually installing fenced-off gardens for all the cottages, and we regret that this wasn't completed for your stay. We apologise for any inconvenience this caused and appreciate your understanding. We are also sorry to hear about the issue with the electric oven and are glad we could replace it before your departure. We recognise the inconvenience it caused during your stay, and we're grateful for your patience. Regarding cleaning supplies, we apologise for the oversight. We aim to provide all necessary cleaning equipment for our guests' comfort and convenience, and we've addressed this with our housekeeping team. It's perfectly fine that your husband retrieved a vacuum from the laundry room, but we are looking into ensuring all items needed are readily available in each cottage. We understand that finding suitable areas for your dogs to run and play was challenging, and we appreciate your feedback on this. We strive to provide a welcoming environment for all guests, including their pets, and will consider this in our ongoing efforts to improve our offerings. Thank you again for your valuable feedback. We hope you had some enjoyable moments during your stay and that you'll consider returning in the future once our improvements are fully implemented. Best regards, Jacki and The Team at The Grange Holidays Property Owner

  • "The only reason I scored a nine for comfort was that I did bump my head a couple of times upstairs on the low beams."

I am six foot tall so this maybe more of a problem to someone taller.

Hi Richard, Thank you for your feedback and for choosing to stay with us. We're glad to hear that overall you had a good experience. We apologise for the inconvenience caused by the low beams upstairs, especially for taller guests like yourself. We appreciate your understanding and honesty in your review.
