  • "Great stay in Grosmont."

Property was exactly how it was describe. Clean, tidy, and lots of amenities. Good info folder on arrival, as well as tea, coffee, milk, and sugar, so everything there to make a good brew upon arrival. The road to the chapel is tight and single file so be careful and parking is on a slope but no issues for us. The views from the windows across the hills and valley were stunning and to add a bonus we saw the steam train chugging on by.

The stairs with their 180 degree half spiral caused one of our party an issue....to be fair the description does allude to an issue with steps......probably not a property for the unstable. Overall an excellent stay as always from a Sykes property

We felt very comfortable and everything was good. If we had any negatives, it is worth mentioning the walk to the pub and shop, is not far but on a very steep incline. Just a small thing, the frying pan needs changing, as some of the non stick is coming off. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, thank you very much.

  • "At the risk of making it harder to find an available week to rebook the Chapel on the Hill we highly recommend it for a holiday stay."

The conversion from its previous use has been imaginatively done and to a high standard. The interior is both very well equipped and comfortable with the views across the village and up the Esk Valley being the icing on a rather nice cake. The location is good (excellent if you like the sound from time to time of steam engines working hard) and with the surrounding area offering so much for a holiday then what’s not to like. Highly recommended.

  • "What a fantastic property with everything we needed for a relaxing holiday."

It was furnished to a high standard, it was well equipped, had comfortable beds and the views from the living area were stunning. We loved that we could walk from the property to the railway station. We enjoyed walks from the house as well as catching a train a few stations along then walking back. We barely used our car. There was a friendly pub in the village and a well stocked and welcoming shop. We had a high quality meal at a pub (The Postgate) in a neighbouring village and again very welcoming. We parked in Robin Hood’s Bay and walked along the coast and headed back on the cinder track. We wished we had two weeks instead of one week there was so much to see and enjoy. I highly recommend Chapel on the Hill as a place to relax after long walks exploring the glorious North Yorkshire Moors.

Every room and appliance were spotlessly clean down to the smallest utensil and there was absolutely everything you could need for your stay and more. It is obvious the owners have put a huge amount of thought into the layout and decor. Very spacious but warm and cozy at the same time. • "Our fourth fantastic stay in these lovely properties (Chapel-on-the-Hill and Sunday Cottage)."

Outstanding as always. A lovely discovery this time was the new 'Albert's Gallery' in the stunning restored Wesleyan Chapel on Church Street, Whitby. We found it too late to book an evening meal but it was great for even just a coffee and fab cheesecake. Also shows old films maybe once a fortnight. The Station Tavern in Grosmont is under new management and was closed for repairs most of the time we were here so not sure how it will have changed. We had a couple of lovely meals in The Postgate in Egton Bridge though and bumped into Andy (the old Station Tavern barman) who now works there. Great days out in Filey, Bridlington, Whitby, Scarborough and Pickering. Also cosy times in this lovely property just cooking, reading, doing jigsaws and chilling out on the rainy days. Thank you!
