5 Customer Reviews

  • "Miscommunication with booking, not sure if this is Sykes or owners responsibility, no electric when arrive, hot tub was at 23 degrees, the van stunk unbelievably of dog, had to open doors, van was covered in dog hair including sofa & beds, the bed had long hairs in it & the pillow case looked like it had been wiped on floor, no heating until 7pm arrived at 3pm, had to hoover up before we could sit down & change bedding, the mattress protector has a urine stair & pillow protector has a blood stain, extractor fan in bathroom, socket in large bedroom not working, leaking radiator in small bedroom, broken cast iron ring holder (fire hazard), hot tub only good for two people, advertised as new, a lot of wear & tear & needs some attention, ladies on the park where very helpful."

Sykes App is appalling & the customer service is poor.

  • "Found it a lovely place to stay and would defo come again , the only thing we would change would be a blind or glass frosted pane on the main door for privacy as it was very open for all to view and a small bathmat otherwise it met all what we wanted ."

Nice having Netflix to for when the weather was cold or rainy too

  • "On arrival at the lodge we entered and looked for any type of welcome pack, which was non existent."

Therefore meaning we couldn't use the wifi as there had been no details left at all, we didn't know about any fire safety measures, nor where anything was or even what to do with rubbish etc. We didn't actually get the wifi code until the following evening (24hrs later) when the owner text me the code. The furniture in the living room looks the part and matches the photos on the website but is uncomfortable. The smaller bedroom (two single beds) is small and you can just about squeeze down the middle of the beds. The larger room is much better however i'm not sure its a king size bed, maybe a double bed at a push. The bathroom lacked a bath mat and toilet a mats, the shower was okay abit hard to opperate (again no instructions) rust on the radiator in the bathroom, but i guess its old and rusts over time with the moisture probably doesnt help that the fan didn't work. A couple of things we noticed straight away when we arrived was the bathroom fan didn’t work (this was mentioned in a previous review) clearly the owner hasn’t bothered to get this fixed, and also the cooker hob (cast iron pan mount) was actually broken but had been placed back together not very health and safety if you have a pan of boiling hot water on it and it gives way… just an accident waiting to happen. (It gets better….) on the second day we had issues with the kettle and or toaster tripping the electrics it didn’t help matters that we didn’t know where the electric box was as there were no instructions left. So I rang the owner and he told me to head outside the lodge and turn it on in a box outside, it tripped a further 3 times that night and I found myself at half past midnight outside in the rain trying to flick switches to no avail. So without any power for most of the evening / night we had to call it a night our phones couldn’t charge (meaning the next day we couldn’t go anywhere till they had charged) and we had no lights, no kettle, no oven, hot tub was also going cold. We were ready to just get in the car and leave, when the owner text saying he’d give us a discounted stay. (We are still awaiting our 'discount'...), we woke up and I flicked the electrics on and they actually stayed on, (good job we didn’t need any breathing apparatus during the night) - the hot tub was cold so we couldn’t use that, we got promised the hot tub manager was coming to sort it out (she never turned up). The fly net in the bedroom was as much use as a chocolate fireguard, it was not secured to anything but the ceiling so when the wind came it blew it allowing all these little tiny flies in and throughout the stay we found them crawling all over us, so make sure you take fly spray there are hundreds of them, almost look like fleas!. The mattress like the previous review says also, is still a foot over hanging the bed frame, another review ignored. We didn’t have an issue with that though as it didn’t affect the sleep. The one and only plug next to the mirror in the bedroom does not work, along with all the scruffy bits here and there including silicone coming away from the kitchen worktop and burn marks hidden under the chopping board, plinths broken off with screws/nails exposed in the kitchen, a leaking tap/sink in the kitchen, the oven tray holder was also broken, the stay was a complete and utter disaster. (We should have rung up Sykes and cancelled the stay and returned home!!) We only stayed the full amount of time because of a promise of a discount from the owner (This remains un-resolved) One to avoid. Also if you’re thinking staying here you will need to take a pizza trays, pizza cutter, scissors, a paper map, probably some candles and a box of matches incase the electric goes out because there’s no one in person to come help you try get it on, fly spray (lots of it), and maybe even a generator. We've stayed in the Chalets on site before (which i should mention are run by a totally different company/person) and had none of the above issues whatsoever, thankfully we had; because we were familiar with the area otherwise we definitely would not have been able to contiune the stay due to lack of information (reccommended places to visit, suggested resturants etc) the normal stuff you'd find in a welcome pack. (which again was not available at the lodge). A very disappointing 3 days spent.

Thank you for your feedback. I was sorry to hear of the issues that you had raised. If you had called us on your arrival we would have sent someone round to help with the issues that you had raised. Property Owner
