The cottage was very clean and well equipped with an excellent shower. The facilities within the cottage make it a home from home and is very central for sightseeing and shopping. It was very convenient to be able to park off road at the front of the cottage. All in all, excellent and the lovely weather was a bonus.

  • "The double bed was too low, difficult to get out of."

The settee was a bit saggy and tired. The layout of the kitchen was extremely odd. We were not informed that the garden was not private, seems to be a right of way for the next door house. On 3 seperate occasions men walked past the kitchen window, I was surprised and embarrassed as I was in my dressing gown, very disconcerting.

I am sorry that you have had such a negative experience at our accommodation and I have responded to your feedback as best as I can - as follows:- The beds are standard. Bought from a high street bed shop. The settee is a personal preference on how soft/hard you found it. I am confused as to why you think the kitchen layout is odd - so I can't help you with that one. As for the garden - my neighbours very kindly look after the garden for me cutting the grass and keeping it tidy for guests such as yourself and I am sorry you found this very disconcerting. • "Lovely little cottage which was very clean and well equipped."

The shower is brilliant especially for elderly with mobility issues. Only a couple things we thought could be improved, 1) the beds are very low to the floor, could be challenging for those being a bit older. 2) Sofa and chair are older and too soft, feels like you are being swallowed and a bithard to get out of. 3) pretty bad oil smell from boiler in the kitchen, so we kept kitchen door closed most of the time. Other than that lovely little cosy cottage.

We are pleased that you found our cottage cosy and clean. Thank you for your feedback and list of possible improvements that could be made. Whilst we take on board your comments about the beds, sofa & chair, feel that they come into the category of personal choice and what suits one person doesn't necessarily suit another. I can only apologise for the boiler as the heating engineer had been out to check it the week prior to your arrival and it had passed all inspection tests. Property Owner

He has some mobility issues and struggled to get up from these. Also the duvets were very heavy, perhap you could offer lighter ones with blankets. Couldn't fault the cleanliness or how well equipped the cottage was. Thankyou for the welcome pack too. We would recommend but only if people didn't have problems like us.

  • "We found Rose Cottage to be very cosy and comfortable, clean and well equipped with a handy welcome pack."

Lovely pleasant garden to sit out in when weather is pleasant. Hourly bus route through the village between Barnard Castle and Darlington. Plenty of places to visit in the surrounding area without going too far, great countryside for walking. We found access into the cottage of 17.30pm to be a rather late arrival time. Access at most properties is usually between 15.00 hrs and 1600 hrs

Thank-you for your feedback and advice for future guests on amenities available to them. The admittance time to the property was altered during Covid to allow time for extra cleaning to be done and it has been an oversight not amending it. We will address this immediately. Property Owner

There is also a lovely garden at the rear of the property. Vanessa, our host, was so lovely and helpful and was there for any queries that we might have during our stay. The only quibble would be that the bed was a bit uncomfortable (could do with a mattress topper), but it is very quiet and we did sleep well during our stay. We would have no problem recommending this property.

Perfect size for our family with 2 young children, great size kitchen and bathroom and great to have enclosed garden too. Had everything we needed and great location near barnard castle and plenty of lovely scenery. Really appreciated the welcome pack - the children squealed with delight when they saw the haribos included! Dishwasher and washing machine also very useful. We would recommend and would be back although having since acquired a puppy it’s a shame the cottage doesn’t accept dogs. Thanks for a lovely home from home.
