Nice little welcome pack when we arrived, thank you. We had a really enjoyable week and really loved walking the Cleveland way which was only a 10 minute walk away. Loved Runswick Bay and Saltburn-By-The-Sea. Highly recommended. Also The Ellerby Inn 5 minutes drive away is well worth a visit. 10/10

  • "We had a wonderful stay in your cottage, thank you!"

It’s placed in a great location, in the doorstep from Runswick Bay with its lovely beach and village, and short drives to Whitby, Sandsend etc. The cottage is small but perfect for 2 or 3/4 if you have little ones, with all the facilities you need. Us and our 5 yr old had plenty of room and only used for a base. We needed an iron during our stay, and the owners delivered one quickly which was a lovely level of service. 2 pubs on the doorstep too. Only piece of advice to the owner would be to replace the main 3 seater sofa with a comfortable one. After our busy days out, we wanted to watch a movie and chill in the living room but the sofa didn’t really allow this :-) I understand why they have purchased the one in place (it’s narrow and fits into the space well) but a wider 2 seater would work nicely and in return it would ticket all boxes!

  • "Well located cottage a mile from Runwick Bay."

New picket fence in front garden meant our dog was able to roam securely while we supervised from the sunny garden bench. Extras on arrival, such as milk in the fridge, cake and fresh flowers. Pubs and butchers a short walk away. Bus stops virtually outside cottage and is an half an hour ride to Whitby.

Your feedback is much appreciated and we are glad you enjoyed your stay at Driftwood. We’re glad you enjoyed the enclosed front with your dog. Hope you stay again. Many thanks. Property Owner

  • "Arrived to overfilled wheelie bins and garden cuttings."

The cottage is nice but basic, shower hose leaks and hot water switch isn't easily accessible. Cut my holiday short after standing in dog mess on the grass outside, don't mind putting the bins out but draw the line at cleaning up someone else's dog mess.

Really sorry that you decided to leave early. We would really hope that dog owners would clean up after themselves. Thank you for bringing the shower hose to our attention and will ensure that this is looked at and fixed. Many thanks Property Owner

Good off-road parking. TV and WiFi were excellent. However the downstairs seating was extremely uncomfortable! Because of this, we are unlikely to rebook this property.

Well equipped generally but the seating in the lounge was not comfy. The cottage warms up quickly with the electric radiators but can feel cool in the evening unless you light the wood burner. Beds comfortable.

Thank you for your feedback. We’re happy that you enjoyed the location. Apologies for the seating, we will look into this. We hope that you will come and stay at Driftwood again. Many thanks. Property Owner

  • "This cottage was a great find."

Much to my joy, there were fresh flowers in the kitchen, milk in the fridge, crisps, sweets and a local cake awaiting us along with tea and coffee. Tea towels and cleaning products were supplied too. The woodburner was laid and ready to be lit. The owner had obviously listened to previous suggestions and acted on all of them except for supplying an airer. There is an outside line but no pegs. Parking off road at the front was a bonus. New kitchen and bathroom. Courtyard will be a lovely space in the summer with table, chairs and a bbq. Unfortunately, at present, the solar lights were not working but it is only March! Bench in the front garden catches the sun. Would definitely like to return here again. Village has 2 pubs, both serving food, an excellent butcher, petrol station and hairdressers (l think). Close to beaches and on a very efficient bus route.

Thank you so much for your feedback and we are glad you enjoyed your stay at Driftwood. I appreciate you letting me know about the airer and clothes pegs. I will ensure the pegs are replaced and an airer will be supplied. We’re glad you enjoyed the local area and the friendly local pubs. We really look forward to welcoming you back to Driftwood so you can take advantage of the front and back yards in the warmer months. Thank you again. Property Owner

  • "A good, small cottage with excellent kitchen, bathroom and living room."

The log burner was lovely and a necessity as we stayed during a very cold week. We found the bedrooms cold at the begining of our week but they had warmed up by the end! We enjoyed staying in Driftwood cottage and had a lovely winter break in Hinderwell. The pan selection was limited/small with no lids provided so we were glad we had taken a large pan from home. The carpets upstairs appeared not to have been vacuumed which was a shame as we also couldn't find one to do it ourselves. Otherwise it was ideal for us and our dog especially with the secure outside areas which would have been well used in better weather!

We hope you had a lovely stay at Driftwood. We very much apologise for the carpet. The cottage is usually cleaned to a very high standard as we expect. A vacuum is a good suggestion. We’re glad your dog could take advantage of the outside areas. Many thanks for your feedback and we hope to welcome you back to Driftwood again soon. Property Owner

  • "Driftwood is a lovely cottage."

It's facilities make it a home away from home and a great base for exploring the local area. The kitchen was well equipped, everything was clean and tidy and the bed very comfortable. The off road parking was a bonus and the very secure front and back gardens brilliant for our lively dog. The only improvement I could suggest would be a clothes airer, so we could hang out coats out to dry (we had sleet and snow during our visit) but that would be it. We would definitely come back again.

Thank you very much for your kind feedback. We’re pleased that you had a relaxing stay at Driftwood and your dogs were able to take advantage of the front and back gardens. An airer is a great suggestion especially for the wetter periods. Despite the weather, we’re glad you found Driftwood ideal for a bit of sight seeing. We look forward to welcoming you back. • "The property was very clean and tidy, with very comfortable beds."

However it was really cold and took an age to warm the house up. The sofa wasn’t very comfortable for relaxing on at the end of the day. The welcome pack was ‘interesting’, a bag of crisps and some plum cake that was two weeks past its best before date, and an half eaten bag of shrimps and bananas…. A pint of milk would have been more welcome. We sadly suffered a 10 hour power cut whilst there (not the owners fault) but none of the local shops could open so it’s worth noting where you can buy groceries from a little further afield as we had to go to Whitby for ours on our first morning. The garden was a massive bonus for our dog.

We sincerely apologise for any upset caused whilst staying at Driftwood and any faults will be addressed straight away. As winter months are coming in, we will ensure cottage will be pre heated moving forward. We hope you will come and stay with us again. Property Owner

  • "The cottage was like an ice box when we arrived and took a long while to heat up."

The bathroom towel rail was on. Daylight could be seen all round the back door, no draught proofing. Like previous visitors we needed to use the duvets from the single beds to supplement the inadequate duvet on the double bed. I appreciate that visitors have differing expectations but I don't consider the kitchen well equipped. We asked for a tin opener on the first evening which was brought the following morning. There were no lids for pans or any dishes which could be covered sustainably so energy efficiency was negligible. It would help if visitors didn't have to walk on soil to access the key safe. The front gate and fence need immediate attention- the gate latch is hanging loose and the fence it hinges on is near to collapse.

We are so sorry to hear that your stay was not as comfortable as should be expected. We are sorry that you thought the temperature wasn’t adequate on arrival. Previous feedback and experience suggests that the cottage heats up incredibly quickly once the radiators are switched on. We apologise for the gate and are aware that it has become slightly loose. A new fence and gate is due to be installed in the next few weeks. We appreciate your feedback as we want to ensure that all guests have a comfortable stay at Driftwood cottage. Property Owner

However we couldn't get the bathroom door to lock or even close properly which wasn't great as it was next to the dining area. Also looking up at the ceiling in the dining area was a little off-putting as there were lots of nails and shards of wood sticking down. It would be nice if all the property had been finished to a high standard.

Thank you for your feedback and we hope you enjoyed your stay. Apologies for the bathroom lock. We were unaware that it wasn’t locking properly and I will ensure to fix it straight away.
