"Cottage was clean with everything you needed."
Not sure about poor rating from one of the reviewers. We stayed after her and did not see any of the issues she raised. Kitchen well equipped and we did cook a lot. Great location very close to main street pubs and ideal for walking round the hills and moors. Had a parking spot too which was a bonus. Bed mattresses may need updating as not very comfy in main double room but we managed.

Plus the electrical faults and lack of maintenance and cleanliness. It could be a nice let if all my findings were addressed but the owner already said there was nothing wrong. I have no need to lie about things. The only plus thing I can say is the property has nice carpet throughout and nice white towels .

"Beautifully clean and well equipped although we couldn’t find a dustpan and brush or vacuum cleaner and would have liked to clean up after ourselves."
The owner kindly left us milk and biscuits and very swiftly dealt with two minor issues we had (not her fault). The only downside was not being able to sit in the outside space or with the windows open in the extreme heat due to the very noisy children next door on their trampoline. It was on the whole a lovely stay in a beautiful area.

"The location of the cottage was excellent…."
Only yards from the Main Street with its great shops, bars and restaurants, yet a very quiet spot with no through traffic.
The cottage was clean, comfortable and well-equipped inside but looked neglected from outside. There were many pots and troughs at the front and back of the house, filled with the dried remains of last year’s bedding plants. A small commitment in terms of time and money would have made a big difference.
Thank you so much for sending a reply and I really appreciate the feedback. I must admit I have been a bit lacking in the gardening department. I am currently on crutches and have been since October, but I will get someone to attend to the garden on my behalf. Kind regards Mrs Jackson

"We had a most enjoyable holiday staying at Duck Egg cottage."
We also thought the property was in a good location, just two minutes walk from the centre of Haworth.
The Bronte Parsonage is certainly worth a visit too.
We noticed some reviewers had commented about the bin situation but I just placed our rubbish in the bin outside on the Friday before we left with all the others. I guessed this was the correct procedure.
Many thanks for a perfect holiday.
Thank you so much for your feedback. The property is really close to everything Haworth has to offer. The Bronte Parsonage is a very short walk from the house and the house is located at the top of Main Street. Just voted in the top 7 Streets to visit in England. "Just back from a lovely mini-break with family, (2 adults, 2 children), at Duck Egg Cottage in Haworth."
We have been to Haworth before and it's such a beautiful place to visit with so much to see and do both in Haworth itself and in the surrounding area. Plenty of places to eat and drink too though it's usually recommended to book if possible, particularly at weekends.
It was our first time at Duck Egg Cottage and we were really happy and impressed with the property and would certainly look forward to a return visit in the future.
The location of Duck Egg Cottage is fantastic, it was very easy to find and the parking space right outside the house is a huge bonus and very welcome. It literally is 10 or 20 metres to the cobbles of Main Street in Haworth and it's great to be able to wander either before or after the coaches have been and take in all the history.
Inside, the cottage was spotless on our arrival and whilst we were only there 3 nights we found plenty of everything we could possibly need for our stay. The kitchen is really well equipped..plenty of crockery, cutlery and utensils. We didn't use the wood burner ourselves but heaters warmed the house up very quickly when needed. TV is very good as is internet coverage..sometimes useful with older boys
Thank you so very much for taking the time and trouble to do such an amazing review. I sincerely hope you come and stay with us again. You make our job worthwhile.
Haworth has just been voted number 7 in the best streets to visit in Britain.

"Our 2nd stay at Duck Egg Cottage and we weren't disappointed."
The cottage was very clean and inviting. It's also at the top of Main Street so access to the moors is excellent as you don't have to navigate the steep climb up Main Street. Plenty of pubs, eateries etc serving very tasty food and the pies at Villette's are delicious.
Fabulous walks from the doorstep and good bus service to Hebden Bridge (lovely walk along the canal) but also a long but lovely walk across the moors to Hebden Bridge, refreshment at one of it's watering holes then bus back.
We're planning to visit again.

"No information provided on local attractions."
Minimal information on places to eat etc. they could have provided information on re-cycling of paper, plastic etc. the dustbin for normal waste was half full & I guess that because there are no details provided for bin collections, it doesn’t get emptied very often. the cottage could have been cleaner, dusty windowsills, hadn’t been cleaned recently. We were disappointed that the cottage was in an area where the majority of the properties were the occupiers main residence; and the properties were probably built as affordable housing rather than holiday lets,
Thank you for taking the trouble to give us feedback, we really appreciate it. I had thought the information provided on places to eat was adequate, but given your feedback, I will look at this again and put in phone numbers etc. Also I have contacted the local tourist information and will try and get some brochures for people on holiday. Tourist Information recently closed on Main Street and it is harder to get information because of this. The waste is cleared weekly, but had not been collected on your visit apologies, it was in between collections. The windowsills I am puzzled at because I cleaned them myself on the Sunday afternoon when we installed new beds to each room. The property like most in Haworth is a cottage style, the small estate was newly built in 1990, in a conservation area, carefully designed to resemble the older cottages in the area, it was built in solid stone, and is all privately owned. Some of the houses are on the estate also holiday let properties. Because Haworth is only a small village the letting properties are scattered among the houses we all call home. I live nearby and I am not aware of any purpose build large Holiday business in the area.

"The cottage was not clean there were a dirty pair of boxer shorts in one of the drawers."
The bed in the main bedroom was very uncomfortable my wife and I both had terrible time sleeping and bad backs. The mattress was very old and desperately needs replacing. There were no instructions left in the cottage on how to work anything nor anything about local attractions. We have left the owner a hand written note we were so disappointed. We've booked with Sykes cottages for years now and haven't had any problems before but in future we will go elsewhere
I am so sorry you were not fully happy with your stay at Duck Egg Cottage. I will respond to your feedback below.
The item of clothing in the drawer was left unfortunately by the previous guest and was missed by the housekeeping team, we are sorry for this error, but we have changed the rota for cleaning to include a double check of all drawers to ensure it doesn't ever happen again
In response to your general feedback, I am a little puzzled, when I spoke to you over the phone during your stay when you told me of a leak in the bathroom 30th May. I text immediately and asked if I could help, you advised the matter was now resolved. I asked if I could do anything further and I received no response.
Just to note I take these matters seriously and since your stay I have had a plumber check the bath and the toilet, which you also reported as leaking and he could find no fault with either. He said the position of the leak appeared to show a small overflow from the bath, this often happens when to are getting in or out of the bath. The toilet he thought was condensation, but he did check all the pipe work and leave paper down for an hour, sat on it, flushed it, but no leak.
The beds you enquired about were actually virtually new bought just as we went live last year, June 2021 and are on the soft side, which is personal choice I know, but I have noted that clients prefer firmer beds, so I have replaced them all this weekend with a firmer kind of bed. I can confirm however that they are not old at all, I have a receipt should this be required, and I am sorry they were not the type you prefer.
I did ask at this if you needed any help with anything else and explained I lived just around the corner and was very happy to help. I have a copy of my text should this be needed, but I had no further response, so I assumed you were having a great holiday, if I had known of course I would have assisted.
You mention that no instructions are at the Cottage, but there is a foolscap binder in the property which is left on the coffee table, it is open and states *Welcome to Duck Egg Cottage*. In it, it tells you how use certain equipment, explains where the user instructions are in the kitchen for each machine in the kitchen area, we even have an instruction for how to use the highchair. It tells you how to find games, DVD, password for the internet etc. It covers Health and Safety issues, for example The Firelighters are kept in the kitchen inside a bag, for health and safety reasons, the instruction for the washer, dryer, dishwasher etc. are in the same drawer.
In the booklet in a separate section, I have covered Local attractions, they are mentioned by type of meal (pub food, breakfast), type of food (cake, vegetarian), distance (top of main street, bottom of the village) and a short review/recommendation, all in the booklet and together with basic directions indicating which end of the village they are located. It has some tourist information booklets in this folder, but I sometimes have to wait for further supplies so it can be limited.
I hope this answers your questions. I gave my phone number and would have been happy to answer any questions and show you how anything worked, answer questions about restaurants etc I just did not get the opportunity.

My husband loved the log burner. Instructions for using electric heating would have been helpful.House warmed up quickly, once heating was on.
Parking place was located beside the front door. There are a few pot holes in the car park,so be prepared in the dark.
A quiet location within Haworth and handy for the Main Street.
Tea,cake and milk left was welcome on our arrival.
Co-op and Spar shops close to the railway station about 15 minute walk, down the hill.
There were recycling bins around the close but unsure what we could and could not recycle, so did not use them.
Really enjoyed the Beer and music festival at Worth Valley railway. We managed to walk some of the Worth Way at various points.
A great cottage and area, would stay again.

"We were very pleased with our stay at Duck Egg Cottage."
It does have it's own parking slot right outside the door which in Haworth is a real bonus. The cottage was very clean and comfortable. It is also in a very good situation being at the top of Main Street. So, if anyone renting it wants to do a walking holiday they don't have to trudge uphill every day to get to the moors. Plenty of good pubs and eateries just round the corner from the cottage.
We would be very happy to rent this cottage in the future.
Just a couple of suggestions but these are NOT complaints and had no serious impact on our holiday.
I felt a few more kitchen utensils would be handy - ie: cheese grater, kitchen scissors and bottle opener.
In the book of Cottage Notes some details of bin collections and items that can be recycled would be a good idea. Also a few leaflets of the surrounding area would be helpful.
