  • "This is our second visit to Owl Cottage and it won't be our last."

Andrew is the perfect host and nothing is too much trouble. The cottage is maintained to a high standard, with all the creature comforts that you need. There is even a welcome pack ( milk, cakes, biscuits ) - to help you settle in. The kitchen is well equipped and is very modern. Bathroom is spacious, with an excellent walk in shower. The bedroom is very spacious indeed, with a huge comfortable bed. Lots of storage space too. The icing on the cake, is you receive a car park permit, for the car park at the end of the road. Definitely recommend.

  • "My wife and I loved our four night break in Owl Cottage."

It's really well laid out and furnished, almost in the heart of Haworth. We had very good and helpful communication from the owner. On arrival we unloaded the car outside without any problem and then used the car park some 50yds away, displaying the supplied parking permit on the dashboard. The next morning, we saw there were several cars in the car park with parking tickets, so were glad of the permit. Main Street is literally two minutes walk away, with so many interesting shops and cafés. There's also the fabulous Hawthorn restaurant, don't miss that if you want a superb meal with a good welcome and great service. We went to RHS Harlow Carr at Harrogate, and from there walked into the town through woodland, on established paths. Skipton's another place to enjoy. All very enjoyable to visit. Owl Cottage was a great base for local walking trips and for slightly further afield with the car. We wouldn't hesitate to return, and in fact are returning to Owl Cottage for a long weekend in December to take in some of the Christmas events and atmosphere. Highly recommended.

This historic property is full of charming details, like a fireplace, wide sills, and window seats, and the property owner was welcoming and easy to contact. He's also thought of absolutely everything one would need to have a comfortable stay, including walking maps of the area, and the cottage's furnishings and absolute cleanliness made it feel just like home. The location is wonderful, too, a step from Main Street and very close to the Bronte Parsonage Museum and a whole foods shop. I thoroughly enjoyed my solo stay, but the cottage would equally make for a wonderful romantic getaway for two. I hope to return soon!

And of course a very important aspect for me is to be able to park your car on the property, but in this case the free parking pass with the car park just at the end of our short road in a nice safe area is perfect. We love Owl cottage and the lovely village with all the shops wine bar's pubs little cafe's & restaurants plus a regular bus service to Keithley for the main train station to go all over Yorkshire for great days out. We had just arrived home when I got a text from Andrew to thank us for leaving the cottage clean and tidy, a very kind gesture. Located at the top of Main Street in Haworth and within walking distance from all the local eating and drinking places. The owner of the cottage has excellent customer service skills and the communication between us and them, was exceptional. The cottage comes with a handy car park permit, for the car park located at the end of the road - within walking distance. The decor is to a very high standard and the owner takes pride in his property. The bathroom, in particular looks very new and modern. Everything you need is catered for and the extra little touches are things like spare batteries / refuse sacks / washing up liquid / full and detailed instructions for everything in the cottage. The owner also sends over very detailed information, for both the cottage and everything local ( pubs and restaurants etc). The best feature was the bed, which was huge and very comfortable. If you are looking for somewhere to stay and like your creature comforts, this is the place for you.

Free parking was a bonus. Lovely walks and places to eat. Try pave and the steam brewing company among many others. Bathroom tap needs to be put on properly as it goes the wrong way. Lovely window seat in the bedroom perfect for watching the night sky. Nice biscuits and cake left for us as well as tea coffee and milk. I would have preferred a washing machine instead of a dishwasher. Great place.

Yes it feels.compace downstairs but its fine as there are so many opportunites to eat out. The upstairs is fab and the cottage ia sp ideally located - we only usually stay in places with parking but the car park is so close and no problems getting a space. The owner was excellent with communications even letting us know that we could leave a liytle later if we needed to. My only slight complaint is that as we are beer drinkers a couple of pint pots would have been great. Hawthorn is a must for Sunday dinner (best i have ever had), the Cloth Store for Tacos was excellent and the Fleece for a cheese and onion pie or a ploughmans. The Steam Brewery a must for a beer and also great food. Haworth is a treat and Owl Cottage perfectly located for it all whilst being quiet x Thank you for a lovely stay.

The area was very peaceful and quiet so you could relax once back at the cottage. We did the Bronte waterfall walk which we thoroughly enjoyed, had a picnic in the sun and then walked back. • "This was our fourth or fifth booking via Sykes and we weren’t disappointed."

A special mention to Andrew the owner who sent the key details, parking etc as well as useful information before we arrived and also checked we had received it. The cottage is located up from Central car park (permit supplied) which is a short walk up Changegate. Its about 50 yrds walk. Changegate is quite narrow so whilst you could drive up and unload quickly you might get beeped at and it is a double yellow line. The road then turns into cobbles to test your suspension! Location wise, Owl Cottage is ideally located for restaurants and café’s etc and the Bronte Parsonage. The Fleece Inn, Old Registry and Hawthorn are all lovely (differing styles and expense). However it is a walk back up! A lot of the shops and restaurants are closed on Monday and/or Tuesday so advance booking is recommended, especially for the Fleece on Monday/Tuesday. The Hawthorn is excellent. The cottage is directly opposite the Old White Lion Hotel which is a pub too but it didn’t disturb us at all. The SPAR and Co-op are useful and well stocked however I wouldn’t describe them as walking distance unless you aren’t buying much and fitter than I. We drove past them on our day trips including to Keighley for petrol. The house itself is lovely and tidy/clean – there were a couple of minor issues with the cleanliness of the bins- but apart from that the cottage is almost new. The bathroom has a good sized walk in shower with waterfall and traditional shower heads. The mirror has shaving socket, demister and lighting though we did find the tap directions slightly confusing. The bedroom is huge with ample storage, plugs, television and a window seat along one window. Bed was so huge and comfortable with lovely linen. The cottage was warm and the Hive thermostat worked well and the windows provided ideal ventilation. The downstairs has a double sofa and a slightly dated chair with foot stall which suited us as the boss had the couch and I took the chair. It was compact and had we used the leaf table (lap trays provided) I am not sure how one of us would have left the table if it still had items on it. The lounge had a decent size tv and DVD player with some books and DVD’s in the unit however somewhat outrageously The Railway Children was not on offer! The kitchen is small partly due to a floor hatch which restricts workspace but it is well equipped with a fan oven, microwave, dishwasher, toaster and kettle. Utensil wise there is a whisk, potato masher, cheese grater, weighing scales (albeit battery flat) etc as well as baking trays to name a few. The frying pan wasn’t particularly large so if you have plans for particular dishes then you might want to take your own. Oven gloves were missing which may be due to covid or an oversight. The workspace is quite cramped but workable as is the fridge. We brought a produce box which I took from a supermarket which had jars of spices, tins of pulses and other items and there wasn’t space to store this unless we had rearranged the whole kitchen! Overall, we really enjoyed the cottage and would definitely consider rebooking.

  • "No outside seating."

The weather was the hottest weekend this year and you could not sit outside as it doesn’t have its own garden this should be mentioned in your description off the property. You can’t sit outside

"Thank you for your feedback following your stay at Owl cottage. We are pleased to see the very positive comments you made in the Guest Book. With regard to a garden we do not of course list a garden as available as you will have seen. The Cottage is in the oldest part of the village and open space is limited. However there is a very pleasant and attractive Central Park only a short walk from the property to sit and enjoy the amenities and this does not detract from the delight of Owl Cottage" Property Owner

  • "Lovely cottage, this was our third visit to this cosy little cottage ."

The view is fantastic, and it's extremely close to main street. However, unfortunately the pub opposite the Cottage, have decided to install 2 brand new extremely bright spotlights over there car park. This kept my wife awake every night, I think the new owner may have to install a blackout blind in the bedroom. Just being honest, we still love this lovely cosy little cottage.

About the location

HAWORTH

Skipton 13 miles; Hebden Bridge 8 miles.

The small village of Haworth was home to the famous Bronte sisters, who were inspired by the surrounding moorland to pen their novels, which have become classics of English Literature. Haworth is a village that time almost forgot, with its myriad of curiosity and antique shops, alleyways and cobbled streets creating a wonderful period atmosphere, all set against a framing backdrop of countryside famously described in the novel Wuthering Heights as wild, rugged and barren. Nearby, the famous Keighley and Worth Valley Railway, an authentic steam railway brought to prominence in the film The Railway Children, provides a lovely day out with a regular service to the old village of Oxenhope. The area abounds with popular places to visit, including the Bronte Parsonage Museum, East Riddlesden Hall, and the National Railway Museum in York. The market town of Skipton, often fondly regarded as the Gateway to the Yorkshire Dales, is just a short drive away, and also within reach are elegant Harrogate and vibrant Leeds and Manchester.
