  • "Absolutely fantastic stay."

A really lovely house with some really cute touches. So clean, and had everything we could need while away (plus the hot tub, which was fab!). Paula was such a lovely host. She provided us with a high chair for our little one, and kept in touch before and during our stay. The house is just a stones throw from the park, and a 15 minute walk to the beach. It was also right on the route for the Hornsea Carnival parade, so that was just lovely to watch! The road noise really didn’t bother us. We could hear it when sat outside, but it was never awful (and it was a pretty busy weekend with the carnival on). Parking was at the back of the house, so felt safe away from the road. We visited as 2 adults with an 8 month baby and our small dog, and it was just perfect for our first trip away as a family, to celebrate our anniversary. Would stay again without hesitation. Thank you Paula and Steve. xx

It was central to Hornsea shops and little park opposite . The walk to the sea front nice and close too . The owners were very kind with a welcome gift and helpful when needed . We mentioned a couple of small things that we would have liked to have been in the property to the owners but not having then didn’t take away our enjoyable stay. The beds were really comfortable and plenty of towels . It would suit all ages . We would go back .

The house is also perfect for dog owners as it is located within a minute walk away from a quiet but large park which and a 3 minute drive away from the beach which my dog loved. Hello Beverley Oh dear sounds as if you didn’t enjoy your holiday. Little surprised as your texts were all positive. Shame your family couldn’t join you so the visit was just the two of you. Hope your husbands ok now as I know you were worried when he wasn’t well. That’s always so stressful when it’s your vacation time and you are away from home. Just to say we clearly say on our cottage info on Sykes that we are located in a town centre so you ll get traffic noise and also that the downstairs is smaller. It says it is for four adults on the booking page and four adults do actually fit around the table. Yes you can sleep five as three bedrooms but it is recommended for four. Hence the cost is for four. The extra bedroom is just really a bonus should there be a child or possibly even a snorer in the party! For anyone reading our reviews and the info on Sykes I hope this clarifies. Thankyou and kind regards I do hope the rest of your summer is lovely Property Owner

The road noise didn’t really bother us as we knew in advance and still slept with the windows open. Just the odd noisy motorbike or tractor would wake us. Bedrooms are lovely, downstairs is small but fine for a few days. Very ‘small dog’ friendly! Great park nearby and lovely quiet beach. Hot tub was fab too. The only things I would say I would prefer is an extra loo, expected one in the en-suite as most have them, there was quite a lot of things in the house, felt a little cluttered, inside the wardrobes and in the kitchen oh and it would be nice to have a line prop for if you do any washing and a few more pegs! Other than that we loved it and would definitely stay again if we visit this area. Thank you!

Very well equipped with everything required for a short stay. Location great with dog friendly amenities on the doorstep. Including a lovely park for a dog run and pubs dog friendly. Welcome pack was most appreciated. There's a freezer as well as a fridge for food storage. Take note of listing saying upstairs is much bigger than downstairs, summer months the garden is more than equiped for everyone to sit together but not much room if 5 people want to socialise inside. (Only 2 people and 2 dogs for us in March so didn't matter) Garden is totally enclosed and dog safe for small and large dogs. Garden was also very pretty yet functional. The only thing, was a very busy and noisy road but only at peak times. (So need to watch children and dogs ). There are 3 beds, 2 doubles and a single but I don't think it's a 5 person cottage because of the seating in the lounge. 20 mins walk through the park to the sea front and back up the high st were there are ample pubs/cafe's and shops. There are 3 pubs 2 mins away 2 of which were not that welcoming but the Victoria was. Stackhouse bar just around the corner opposite the church was our favourite. Very welcoming and plenty of real ales. I would recommend this cottage to all. Oh I nearly forgot the hot tub

Hi there Thankyou so much for your lovely review. It’s really appreciated. We do state on our Sykes details that we are a town centre property so not for those wanting a country peace and quiet break however perfect for walking to the bars shops beach Park and Mere. Totally agree re five people will find it tight downstairs hence it states sleeps 4 on Sykes description and not 5. We simply leave the third bed made up in case anyone prefers to sleep Alone!!! Helps Snorers possibly!!! Great you enjoyed Stackhouse Bar. Quite quirky and defo great ales. Thankyou for the video of Ozzie having fun on the beach. Yes it’s right in the town but this means you can leave the car behind walk to the pubs, restaurants and also the beach is close enough to walk as well. This was wonderful. Noise levels did not affect us in anyway, some days was slightly noisier than others but that’s to be expected in the town itself. The Hot tub was lovely and relaxing after exploring Hornsea and the surrounding area’s including Bridlington and Whitby, plus many more. Hornsea itself is a pretty place, very clean and friendly atmosphere. I would recommend Daisy Cottage for anyone that either likes to stay in one place and not use the car or to be used just as a lovely place as a base to explore surrounding area’s. • "We have just returned from 7 nights at Little Daisy Cottage- first points were communication with Paula- she was fantastic- really made us feel welcome and provided so much information."

The pack in the house was great too with so much in the way of tips for places to go. The house itself was super clean, the hot tub amazing and the outside garden was perfectly enclosed for our dog and children. Space to hang washing out was really good too. The house is right next to a main road- the listing does mention this- earplugs were a must as the road is very busy. However this meant the location was perfect for exploring without having to drive - the park across the road was great and it was nice to be able to walk to places in Hornsea including the beach and the Mere. Off road secure parking was a bonus also. The house itself was super clean, the beds really comfy and it was really homely. We really enjoyed using the house as a base to explore the amazing East coast and surrounding area. To then return home to the hot tub was perfect. Negative points for us was the shower was terrible- really low pressure. Also the house could do with more kitchen items like baking trays and cooking items (pizza cutter, tongs, fish slice, large spoon). It was also the first cottage we've stayed in where only 1 roll of loo roll was provided per bathroom. The curtains in all 3 bedrooms were lightweight so by 5.30am both children were wide awake as they're used to dark black out curtains at home. Really minor tweaks would make this home 10/10.

Hi Ella. Thankyou for the kind review. Glad you found Daisy Cottage cosy and clean and that you all enjoyed Hornsea and the area. I do wish you had called me re the shower as the water pressure isn’t low there is just a knack to turning it on. As we live closely by I always ask all guests to call me or let me know if they need anything so again had you requested extra oven trays I would have popped them round. Apologies re the fish slice. It actually was burned the previous week and I completely forgot to replace it when I had to throw it out So ive popped a new one in now. Great you always take your own black out blinds on your travels. If you do like a pitch black bedroom then that’s a great idea. The curtains in the two smaller rooms are Laura Ashley fabric and lined but don’t act as blackouts. The ones in the master bedroom are raw silk and heavily lined so should have offered more in the way of keeping the daylight out but again good job you always travel with your own blinds. Finally I do wish we could stop the traffic causing noise issues. It has definitely seemed to get worse in the last couple of years as the town has become so popular. Again we do mention this on the info page and for anyone reading in the property is located in the Hornsea town centre so should you need peace and quiet then Daisy is not for you. Luckily most regulars don’t find this a problem as they like the location as so easy to explore etc and Thankyou Ella for pointing that out. Enjoy the rest of your summer. • "March 2022 - Unfortunately we had to cut our stay short as the road noise was just too much for me and our cat who also came on holiday with us, to bear."

Not living close to a main road, had no idea of the noise level or proximity of the traffic to the front window, had to keep the curtains closed so the cat didn't have a nervous breakdown. We also didn't use the hot tub, because it wasn't relaxing being in the garden again due to noise. Not any fault of the lovely owners or Sykes Cottages, the property listing does state that there is road noise, I just didn't realise how much. We also had an issue with the en-suite shower, didn't feel very safe as it's a flat even surface and therefore slippy, maybe pop a shower mat in that bathroom. The above aside, the property is lovely, warm and welcoming inside and the main bedroom bed is so comfy.

Hi there. I am so dreadfully sorry that your cat and yourself were disturbed by traffic noise. I do realise that the cottage is a town centre property and do appreciate that Hornsea is a busy popular little seaside town hence there will be traffic. Hence we do as you say mention this on our property description so that people are aware of the location. Possibly a country cottage would be a better option when bringing a cat whereas Daisy cottage is maybe suited more for dogs visiting as opposite the entrance to the Hallgarth Park. Shame you couldn’t use the hot tub as it is in the rear garden and very private but again I do appreciate your comments regarding traffic in the market place. At certain times of the day I know the town gets busy. We live closely by in The Market Place and you either love a busy town centre location to be able to easily reach shops cafes the beach etc or you need a more peaceful location. Hence we realise our cottage is not for people needing total peace and quiet. Thank you for your kind words about the property I am so glad you liked the bed and found it warm and welcoming. That’s very nice to hear. Just for anyone reading your review and worrying re the en suite we haven’t had any other comments about the shower tray but to put minds at rest we do provide a bath mat. It is located in the bathroom cupboard in the family bathroom as we dont have any storage cupboard in the en suite. Many thanks for the review as I am always grateful for feedback and sorry that our Little Daisy isn’t the right holiday cottage for you. I do hope that your next break is more successful and wish you a very happy summer. X Property Owner

Very noisy road. Steep outside step. Only 2 dining chairs.

Dear Mr and Mrs Barber. Thank you firstly for the kind text message you left as you vacated Little Daisy House. You mentioned you had enjoyed a lovely holiday which was nice to hear. Thank you also for leaving the cottage so tidy following your two weeks with us. It was appreciated Sorry I didn't get to say hello to you or to Ralph your doggie but I fully understood your concerns re health issues especially at this difficult time with the Covid virus still causing problems. I am a tiny bit surprised and saddened by your review as after receiving your message I had thought things were fine however it appears you didn't enjoy the property after all. I am truly sorry for this as we honestly would do anything possible to ensure our guests have a happy break in Hornsea. I did have a chat this week with Sykes following your comments and requested that although their property description already stated the house is located in a seaside town and close to amenities that they stress a little extra that you will have traffic noise in a town centre environment so I hope that helps future guests when deciding if our holiday home is the right one. We live very closely to Little Daisy House so we do understand that a town centre option is so different from a countryside option. We love it as enjoy the close access to Hallgarth park Hornsea Mere and shops cafes and pubs but we realise it's not for everyone and if you are noise sensitive then best to search another area outside of the Market Place. I also have requested that Sykes point out that although Little Daisy has large bedrooms and adequately sleeps five people the downstairs is smaller. We always hope the cuteness coziness and standard of cleanliness helps a little in this regard. We do actually have five dining chairs in the house. Three downstairs and two upstairs. When I receive a larger group booking I always mention this in my welcome chat however as you were two people and a dog I didn't think you would need the upstairs chairs bringing down so my apologies for that if you did. I note on the property description it mentions a dining table and it actually is just a small wooden kitchen table so I have requested this to be amended. You can actually see a photo of the table in the property page for future guests. With regards to the step being steep I m truly sorry you struggled. It is a raised area but does have a normal width step upto it and in all honestly I the step hasn't been mentioned by previous guests. We decided this year that the decking wasn't the best thing in the world when wet or icy so we had a specialist company lay artificial grass over it. This we feel is much safer as even when wet it doesn't get very slippery Sadly I can't change the step as too large a job to remove all the decking grass and hot tub. I will though take our builder to see if there's any way we can use a handle grip or pole on the fence. Not sure how it can be done but we promise to try. I do hope my message puts your minds at rest that we always have our guests best interests at heart and We wish you a happy healthy rest of 2021 Property Owner

  • "Lovely little cottage in Hornsea, ideally situated and very cosy and has everything you need."

Says for 5 people which yes it does sleep 5 comfortably, but downstairs would be very tight for 5 especially if they were all adults but as there were only two of us and a little dog we were more than accommodated.

  • "This is a lovely little house with easy access to the beach and other local facilities."

Kitchen was well stocked and modern, and the house was well looked after. The downstairs is maybe a little small for 5 people to enjoy a meal together (the table in the kitchen can hold 3, or everyone could go in the lounge), but the outside patio would be lovely in the summer. We went as 2 adults and 2 kids, and it was a great base for exploring the area. The owner, Paula, was also very helpful and quick to respond to any queries. Thanks!
