  • "Fairview in Hornsea is a beautiful cottage with a lovely garden in a quiet location but only minutes from the small town and 20 minutes walk from the beach."

Everything you might need has been thought of. There is a tricky circular staircase which would prove difficult for anyone with mobility issues. It is one of the best places we've stayed in

Bit longer walk to beach and lovely longer walks along side of beautiful mere. (no footpath all the way round). Very well equipped cottage with bright kitchen and pretty garden. Very clean and comfy. Would love to stay again some time. Generous welcome gifts - thank you.

  • "Fair Place is a lovely cottage in the centre of the town within walking distance of all the amenities."

The cottage was immaculately clean, well kept and well equipped, an ideal base for us to explore the area both locally and further afield. On this occasion the weather was atrocious - cold, wet and windy. Whilst this didn't stop us exploring we were grateful for the central heating at the cottage on our return. We would like to thank the owners for making us feel welcome.

The cottage was extremely clean and cosy with a lovely fireplace. The beds were really comfortable. The kitchen was very well equipped. We loved the special treats waiting for us on arrival, plus coffee and tea. The lemon drizzle cake was gorgeous! Our son had lots of fun counting the mice. Although the weather did not allow for spending time in the garden, it is very well upkept and must be lovely in summer.

The living room is a little tight and not very comfortable with 2 single sofa chairs and one 2 seater sofa - that is our only complaint! The kitchen space made up for it as it was so light and airy and my two children (aged 7 and 8) were happy to sit at the dining table to play games, cards or get creative. The garden was a fantastic bonus! Used for morning coffees and relaxing evenings - fabulous! And a park and big green space for ball games literally across the road. Well equipped kitchen, lots of unexpected extras such as condiments, tea towels, washing up liquid and sponge, numerous cleaning products and anti-bac wipes. Even the bathroom had shower gels and bath soaks! Do take note of the advertising due to the iron spiral staircase - not a good property for under 5s or people with mobility issues.

  • "There was everything I needed for a lovely stay in fair place cottage."

It was very comfortable and a lovely private garden to sit and enjoy a drink in the evening and not overlooked. There was ample shops nearby and eateries to accommodate most tastes. I could imagine the spiral staircase to be troublesome to certain less able bodied persons, as it was enough taking a suitcase up the stairs, but I also think it's a lovely feature of the house. I think the upmost care and attention to detail has been made to make my holiday feel safe and enjoyable.

We have never stayed in such a well loved and immaculate premises. Every thing you need is at hand in the cottage. Even cookery books. If your staying here there is a large Tesco’s with Petrol pumps less than 5 mins drive all your provisions can be purchased there. Look up the Legendary Local Fish and Chip Restaurant /Takeaway. Pubs within 150 metres in High St but this cottage is away from the High St and does not suffer any traffic or surrounding noise. We hope to return but suspect you will have to get in early for bookings. It is also a short walk to the Hornsea Mere and a larger walk to the Sea Front. Be aware people talk to you in the streets!!!Us Southerners aren’t used to that. Also lovely garden to sit out in with neighbours cat that comes to see you. You won’t be disappointed in booking these premises. Thanks

We appreciated the central heating plus instant heat of the gas fire and continuously available hot water in a week at the end of October so definitely would be great for Summer or Winter stay. The cottage is truly 'fully equipped' and the owners have taken particular care with bedding and furnishing to ensure that visitors feel comfortable and 'at home'. ( Actually MUCH better than my home!) Potential visitors should note the description of the feature spiral wrought iron staircase- which was no problem for us- and the beautifully presented downstairs bathroom. We were very impressed by the light and airy kitchen diner, too. The cottage is very convenient, only 1 minute walk from cafes, 7 minutes walk from Hornsea Mere and only a few minutes more to the sea front and beach. There were a couple of things which could be a problem for a group of 4 people. The beautiful spiral staircase could be a hazard for children or any person with a disability. Shops, including a wonderful butcher and restaurants were a few minutes walk away, no cars needed. We found it was within walking distance of the beach. I did know about the spiral staircase beforehand but by the end of the week I could have done without it!! On a slightly more serious note the stairs are difficult to negotiate with suitcases...soft bags are better and of course the bathroom is downstairs which may be a problem for some. The small bedroom is fine but be aware the bed is only accessible from one side and also had a footboard so no climbing in and out by the foot of the bed. Do not let this put you off, the cottage is so clean and fresh. We found the enclosed garden perfect on warm days for breakfast, coffee, evenings and enjoying a drink at the end of the day. The lovely fresh flowers, coffee machine, fresh milk, tea and delicious homade lemon drizzle cake were unexpected and a very welcome touch. Thank you so much.

In addition a lovely well kept rear garden which was really quite a sun trap and where we enjoyed a cuppa when we arrived, along with the lovely home made lemon drizzle cake and quality biscuits left for us... and breakfast every morning in the sunshine too. Round the corner was a little Italian restaurant, reasonably priced and which exceeded expectations. On an evening when it got chilly we switched on the gas "log burning" stove... very cozy!
