Brinkhusrt, for the information we needed, (keys) she was so friendly and polite, which was lovely. The house and location was brilliant. I wish we could of just lived there! Sykes never let us down! We did the usual "haunts" such as Bridlington, Whitby etc. and the week went to quickly. In the drawers in the bedroom was a polite notice on what to do when vacating regarding towels etc, where to put them. I did accidently set the fire alarm off unfortunately, but did apologise to the neighbour who was very good about it thankfully, it is rather loud! It would be lovely to return at some point in time as we really enjoyed our week and the house felt very welcoming with everything you needed. Thank you again Mrs. Brinkhurst.

Everything you could need is here, and so comfortable. Owners solved minor problems instantly and we're very friendly and prompt in reply. We had a problem with the Internet and sky came out the next morning, arranged by the owner, excellent communication. The home position is perfect, obviously for the sea, also the park and the town, which is one of our favourite places. Such a pity no longer accepting pets or we would be booking again. Thanks for the loan of your beautiful home.

Was ideal for what we wanted which was a beach holiday. Just a few steps from the sea. We got lucky with the weather so could spend all day, every day on the beach. Near enough to other facilities and shops if they were needed. One niggle - would have loved a dishwasher - but it wasn't a deal breaker.

Nice complementary milk, flowers etc on arrival thanks. Great sea view & close to cafes, bus stop, access to beach etc. Short walk into town. House lovely & clean. Comfy sofas. Bed not quite as comfortable. Loved sitting in the chairs in bedroom looking out to sea/beach. Only downside was having to take dog in the dark lane in the middle of the night to pee as no natural grass in garden. However, everything else compensated. Note the property does not allow dogs any longer so we’re unable to come back. We have a small well behaved dog & always ensure we look after the property we hire, correctly. The building works next door was not bothersome & the friendly builder always asked how we were coping with the noise level and offered to work on quieter jobs if we were in. We were usually out and about during the day.

Nice cafe nearby and a decent fish and chip shop too. House was clean and tidy, just a few minor quibbles for us, mattress too soft but that's just our personal preference. Also, needs a lock for the bathroom door, there are some new self closing doors, so a door wedge would be handy, ice cube tray missing. We had some friends come to stay with us for a couple of nights and there were no spare towels in the second bedroom. Sea view house is as described, lovely view from the bedroom which was nice to sit there, read and relax, kitchen appliances nice, welcome pack too. Also, noticed how clean and tidy Hornsea is, lovely park and dog walks, friendly locals. A compact house ideally suited for us, so we have booked our return for next year.

Hornsea a lovely, friendly place. The cottage is fairly central for everything. The seafront location is probably what sells this place ( and it is a great view) but you should put more photos on! It really is lovely inside. Spotlessly clean, cosy and comfy. Very well equipped. Thoughtful things, often lacking in some cottages, like blackout curtains, proper sized bath towels, a really comfy sofa with a footstool and side table for your cuppa! There's a huge fridge freezer and a fantastic oven. The little yard is secure for the dog with a private lane behind. Other than the soothing sound of the waves it was relatively quiet. The TV and DVD could do with an upgrade. Would recommend and would definitely book again.

Don't judge a book by it's cover! It isn't the most prettiest property from the outside but wow!! on opening the door it's light, spacious, lovely decor throughout. Very cosy! and warm. First impressions was yes we love it! No welcome pack sadly which all other properties have supplied. So arrived late in the evening and not even milk in the fridge so no cuppa or wine or even treats for our dog which is generally supplied to meet and greet making smiles all round. That aside, the view in the morning light fazed out the milk/wine dilemma. Absolutely stunning I couldn't get enough pics every morning when only the odd dog walker was about and the sea was glistening all the way as far as you can see each way. Hornsea is a lovely quaint town with some shops a museum but can't take dogs in so couldn't go in sadly as was told by a local it was lovely to look around in like a tardis. We had lots of walks along the sandy beach goes for miles towards Bridlington our dog had the time of his little life living his best life. Lovely coming back to a warm cosy property. In the evenings we popped the flame effect switch on the electric log effect fire, lit some candles and lamps on. Lovely sized TV for chilling. Lots of board games available and magazines to flick through whilst chilling. Not sure our dog liked the astro in the courtyard garden but looked tidy. Lots of foodie places too. It's not a busy road, but it is on the bus route. There are double yellow lines, so the drive is never blocked. If you can parallel park, its quite easy to get onto the apron in front of the house, (large MPV). Open plan front room diner which opens out onto a small patio (artificial grass, lovely sun trap, garden furniture). Comfortable sofa's, electric log fire, Sony TV and Sky box, good wi -fi. Newish kitchen, with everything you could need, range gas cooker, good sized fridge freezer, (no dishwasher, which we didn't need). Large front bedroom with comfortable bed, I thought I might be disturbed by the sea/ waves, but the opposite was the case. Slightly smaller but equally comfortable back bedroom. Good sized new bathroom with bath and shower (combi boiler). Its an old house with some DIY, but it was one of the better holiday homes we've stayed in, (we're not of the 'four in a bed' mindset). There is a chip shop and a cafe a few doors down and also another within spitting distance. There is the Marine pub at the top of the road, round the corner is a great park for walking the dogs, it has a new children's play park and a spanking new scooter/ BMX/ skateboarding park. Also a post office (Nisa), cafe, butchers, chip shop, or walk a little further and your in the middle of the town. The Mere walk was disappointing, but we loved the railway walk and north along the beach towards Brid.A really enjoyable holiday, we will be going back.

The property

Located right on the beachfront is this attractive mid-terrace property, on the outskirts of the popular coastal town of Hornsea.

Perfectly placed for a traditional seaside family holiday, the cottage is bright and cheerful, with a nautical theme running through it.

Tastefully renovated to a high standard, there is a spacious sitting room, with comfortable leather sofas and a cosy electric woodburner-effect fire.

An archway leads into the dining room, which has patio doors opening onto the small rear enclosed yard, while the galley-style, modern, well-equipped kitchen, has a superb gas range cooker for ease in preparing tasty family meals.

Upstairs, there are two roomy double bedrooms, one with stunning views over the sea, and there's a cosy single room available.

With the benefit of off road parking for one car, guests can safely leave their car behind and explore the town on foot.

A hop and a skip brings you onto the long, sandy beach, perfect for children building sandcastles and for long walks along the shoreline.

It's a pleasant saunter along the promenade to the town centre, with a good variety of pubs, shops, tea rooms and restaurants.

There are pretty ornamental gardens and galleries, including one by Tracey Savage, with lots of fascinating eccentric sea pictures.
