  • "We had a great time."

Property was as described. Plenty of utensils, plates, pots and pans, to use. In a nice location, close to the pub, and the pool, and yet peaceful. There is some mould in the front bedroom, that required attention. This didn't detract from the stay, most likely to be down to lack of regular ventilation. We would return.

Thank you so much for your feedback, I am so pleased you had a great time. We will take a look at the front bedroom when we’re next over, thank you for letting me know Property Owner

  • "A very cosy and comfortable cottage, everything you could possibly need and much more."

The bedroom furniture could do with updating as water marks on every piece in the main bedroom and the drawers in the second bedroom looked like it had been black waxed but just made it look dirty, a shame really when the ground floor furniture was in keeping with the cottage vibe, also the light over the lopsided dinning table didn’t work. However a fabulous stay and would definitely recommend Coastal Retreat….. lovely!

Thank you for your feedback. I have checked with Sykes regarding the table and light we haven’t had any reports or these being broken until now so will arrange for these to be looked at and fixed. Kind regards Property Owner

  • "Lovely property, but doesnt have an enclosed garden as described, which was important with a reactive dog."

Hi Katy, I am really sorry you thought the garden was enclosed as I am not aware that my cottage is advertised as such. It would be great it you could send me the details of where it says this as the only wording I am aware of is as follows… ‘Garden area at the rear with patio and furniture’ Unfortunately the cottages on The Bay are open plan I really hope you enjoyed your holiday otherwise Property Owner

  • "Lovely cottage, largely very comfortable with the exception of the bed where we found the mattress a bit too soft for our liking."

We were also disappointed that this wasn’t king size in the master bedroom as the room could take a king size bed and the larger bed is pretty standard in all the holiday homes we’ve stayed in previously. But on the whole based on location, presentation and price point I would recommend.

Thank you for your feedback and we hope you enjoyed your stay Property Owner

About the location

FILEY

Scarborough 7.7 miles; Bridlington 10.5 miles.

Set in the magnificent Filey Bay, Filey is a traditional English seaside resort with a friendly atmosphere, offering a restful holiday, making it an ideal place to stay for walkers and wildlife watchers at any time of the year. Filey Brigg is a low headland that protects Filey Bay and provides good bird watching and seawatching opportunities all year round. The 400 ft high Bempton Cliffs (RSPB Reserve) to the south of Filey Bay are home to over 250,000 seabirds in the summer. The town itself seems almost caught in a time warp, retaining much of its character with individual shops, narrow paths and ginnels and there is a slipway where local fishermen keep their boats, plus delightful beach chalets that can be hired through the summer months. The bay is edged with two promenades and there are various gardens, where brass bands play on a Sunday afternoon. This small town is family orientated and there are loads of family activities such as Alpamare UK waterpark, Filey Bird Garden and Animal Park and the Filey Dams Nature Reserve, a wetland reserve where all kinds of common and rare birdlife can be seen. A short drive brings you to the busier town of Scarborough where you will find great beaches, a castle, the Rotunda Museum and the acclaimed Sea Life Centre. Other towns worth visiting close to Filey include Bridlington, Whitby, Hornsea and Saltburn, which all demonstrate the vibrancy of this picturesque North Yorkshire region.
