"A lovely clean, comfortable, warm and well equipped cottage."
Easy walk into Richmond with all the sights, shops, pubs, restaurants and the local butchers. Alternatively, excellent countryside walks from the cottage to explore the Yorkshire Dales. Nearby bus stop on main road . Welcomed by the house keeper, will definately be back on our next visit to Richmond. Its great to have the dedicated parking space next to the cottage but I did use the gravel area as the pidgeons in the trees must have taken a dislike to my car!!

Foxglove Cottage, converted from a former coach house, provides lovely accommodation in a peaceful setting, just 15 minutes' walk from the town centre, and 10 minutes' walk from the river and the magnificent rolling countryside of Swaledale.
The property has an open-plan living area, and the warm and comfortable sitting area has doors leading to the sunny patio, perfect for sitting out and enjoying an evening meal.

If you and your loved ones can tear yourself away from this truly charming spot, look forward to a gentle stroll into the centre of Richmond, which is regarded as the jewel in the heart of North Yorkshire and a place of breathtaking beauty, inspiring painters and poets from past and present; this is easy to see why as you meander down the cobbled streets lined with plenty of places to eat and drink or walk along the endearing River Swale. Whilst here, be sure to delve into the town’s past by taking a walk around the remains of Richmond Castle, which still dominates the town today or discover the beautiful Georgian architecture before visiting the plethora of museums and monuments in town. Situated at the entrance to Swaledale, the ancient market town of Richmond stands on a prominent hilltop site to the north of the River Swale. Its cobbled streets and narrow alleys or 'wynds' enshrine over nine centuries of busy history and unique character. The town grew up around its castle, a Norman fortress dating back to 1071, famously situated high above the river - indeed the name Richmond is derived from 'Riche-mont' meaning 'strong hill'. Today there are wonderful walks to be enjoyed such as the Castle Walk - a dramatic terrace walk beneath the castle walls - or alternatively walk alongside the River Swale where there are parks, safe paddling areas and small waterfalls to enjoy. Within the town, narrow streets and alleys radiate from the cobbled Market Place (which has a weekly market and monthly farmers’ market) and there are numerous shops, pubs and restaurants to enjoy. The town flourished in the 18th and 19th centuries and the resulting elegant Georgian architecture lines many of the old streets. The Georgian Theatre is one of the oldest surviving theatres in the country with visitors enjoying its regular productions all year round.
