  • "Just got back from a great stay at honeysuckle cottage and we had a great time."

The cottage is on the edge of town but only a ten minute stroll and parking outside of the cottage is supplied. The cottage itself is warm and cosy and lovely and clean. There's everything you need in the cupboards and apart from a noisy party at one of the properties close by which of course isn't controllable, we had a lovely peaceful stay. Just perfect for a few days away.

Minor comments were 1. We felt the duvet was quite small and 2. batteries in remote handset were flat and 3. it would have been great to have an enclosed garden, however all minor comments. Overall very well equipped, good instructions and we really appreciated the tea, coffee and cleaning materials supplied. Thank you.

  • "Lovely cottage in a quiet spot close to Richmond town centre."

It had every utensil you could possibly need. Instructions for any equipment provided. Richmond is a very nice town with all the amenities. There are very good restaurants and cafes and craft shops. There are easy journeys to Ripon and Harrogate and a much longer journey to Whitby if wanted to visit. It was nice that the leaves were swept up and they dealt immediately with a barking dog in one of the cottages. There is only one suggestion to improve the facilities and that is that a grab handle in the shower would be appreciated by less steady guests.

Thank you, its lovely to receive such positive feedback, we work really hard to ensure our guests have a super stay and will always respond to any situation that arises. We would love to welcome you back again in the future. Property Owner

Spotless, everything you need. Short walk into Richmond. My little negative the trees in front of cottage where you park your car under blocks all light into living room and your car gets covered in poo and sap. Also the garden courtyard could be fenced in for privacy and dogs to be let out. I would still return and recommend we had a great time Thankyou.

Thank you for your lovely feedback, i'm pleased you would return. We have put a new fence up around the car park and each year we top the trees around the car park, however we do leave the wildlife during the summer. We look forward to welcoming you again in the future. Property Owner

  • "Really nice stay in this lovely cottage only a short walk to the town centre."

There are just a couple of things that would be useful: 1. A bathroom cupboard to store things. 2. A chopping board rather than a glass board 3. A ring binder to hold all the printed material rather than have laminated cards around the place. 4. A TV that does not have a mind of its own - it kept powering down and changing channels! These can be sorted but it really is a great place to stay.

Thank you for the feedback, all noted. We hope to see you again soon. Property Owner

The cottage was very clean and comfortable, lots of kitchen equipment, great dishwasher and cooking facilities. The bed was very comfy and the the bathroom super. The provision of cleaning/washing up liquid, cloths and tea towels, and toilet rolls was appreciated, as was the milk and the parking permit. The outside space was ideal at the end of the day for the last of the sunshine. Everything about this cottage was first class, nothing to improve upon. We had a great short break and felt safe, cosy and comfortable in a lovely home from home.

  • "We had a great 10-day stay over Christmas."

The cottage was comfortable and scrupulously clean, with ample storage (except for in the bathroom, where a shelf or two would be useful). The kitchen is very well-stocked with pans and tools. There were a Christmas tree and decorations, which made it very cosy for the festivities. There were just two of us most of the time and a third over the Christmas weekend; maybe the cottage would have felt slightly crowded with four adults, but for us it was ideal. It is an easy walk (c. 10 minutes) in to Richmond, which is a lovely town, and there are great drives and walks in the area. The heating is efficient (though noisy at times, with clanking pipes) and the cottage was perfectly warm. Because of the thick walls I suspect it would also stay cool in summer. If we ever return to Richmond I will definitely plan to stay here agin.

The cottage is very well appointed and comfortable with all you need inside. Especially as I still had to prepare meals apart from one day when we managed to eat out. Still no eating out inside places till May. So everything we needed was there. The host had put out chairs so we could sit outside there too and the addition of washing machine and dryer in a little outside shed which is shared with the other cottages in the house was a bonus if required which we used. The cottage is out of the town and very quiet so you could hear the birds in the trees but it is near enough to go into Richmond when you want - 10 mins walk. It is in an ideal area for exploring the Dales and Herriott country which we wanted to do and did and Richmond is a lovely place to explore too. We will definately be returning and thanks to the host for a lovely break away.

About the location

RICHMOND

Barnard Castle 10 miles; Leyburn 12 miles.

Situated at the entrance to Swaledale, the ancient market town of Richmond stands on a prominent hilltop site to the north of the River Swale. Its cobbled streets and narrow alleys or 'wynds' enshrine over nine centuries of busy history and unique character. The town grew up around its castle, a Norman fortress dating back to 1071, famously situated high above the river - indeed the name Richmond is derived from 'Riche-mont' meaning 'strong hill'. Today there are wonderful walks to be enjoyed such as the Castle Walk - a dramatic terrace walk beneath the castle walls - or alternatively walk alongside the River Swale where there are parks, safe paddling areas and small waterfalls to enjoy. Within the town, narrow streets and alleys radiate from the cobbled Market Place (which has a weekly market and monthly farmers’ market) and there are numerous shops, pubs and restaurants to enjoy. The town flourished in the 18th and 19th centuries and the resulting elegant Georgian architecture lines many of the old streets. The Georgian Theatre is one of the oldest surviving theatres in the country with visitors enjoying its regular productions all year round.
