  • "This is the second time we have stayed here in the last 3 years."

Disappointed that nothing has been done to update the property. Biggest sofa is still broken one end. Cushions are flat as pancakes. Toilet seat moves to one side. Could do with a coat of paint all round. Garden has overgrown edges of nettles, thistles, brambles. I understand the wish for conservation but the place is surrounded by fields anyway. Not very good for younger children. Washing line was broken so we had to do a quick repair. Used the hot tub but only one side of the jets were working. These are only small niggles but we all had the impression that the owners are not really bothered about doing anything to the property or garden.

Hi Tony. We are sorry you are disappointed. We would have gladly took a look at the niggles you found if you had let us know whilst you were here and gave us chance sort these for you. We do live on site and our contact details are in the cottage. We do have currently have hedgehogs in the gardens & we aren’t 100% sure where they are living. Just to point out the cottage was updated in 2022 including all new beds and bedroom furniture, and upvc double glazing throughout the property... I'm sure you can appreciate we update our property's as things wear out this is a gradual ongoing cost to ourselves and we strive to make them as nice as we possibly can . Painting is on the agenda but you will appreciate that this isn’t a 5 min job and is a job for our quiet period. Also the sofas that are in there currently, were only put in there beginning of this year so I don’t think they are the same ones…… we were also unaware that the current ones are broken. The hot tub jets can also be turned on & off - again we would have gladly taken a look for you. We do take all feedback on board and like to think of ourselves as proactive owners & would have tried to resolve these matters for you given the chance. Thanks for your feedback & custom. Ben & Wendy. P.s after checking the sofa this morning - we can’t actually find anything broken. Property Owner

The cottage was fantastic with absolutely everything you would need. The beds and couches are very comfortable. The star of the show was the hot tub with such a beautiful views. You could see the stars at night. It feels very private even though there is cottages near you. Would 100% go back already looked into next year.

  • "Farrow had all we needed but there was some mould in two of the bedrooms and only having one bathroom with one toilet for six adults was difficult at times, a fully functional lock on the bathroom would also have been helpful."

Bath sheets instead of bath towels would have been preferred. The sofas definitely hadn't been moved and there was a lack of precise cleanliness throughout the cottage. We did enjoy our stay and the hot tub was a real bonus but it's that little attention to detail that really makes a holiday perfect.

  • "A few disappointing issues regards the property."

Firstly, cupboard doors missing in the kitchen, on ice dispenser on the fridge as advertised, empty Reed diffusers in the bathroom and living room, the sofas were too low and difficult to get up out of. The beds were really hard and uncomfortable, had to take the very thin quilt from the spare room and use it as extra padding to lie on. The soft furnishings, cushions, bedding, towels were looking old and in need of replacing. Was shocked to see all the stains on the quilts when we removed the covers at the end of our stay, if had known before the state of those, would not have used them, really bad. All said and done, the location is lovely, very private garden and great hit tub but the property interior needs a little TLC to bring it up to standard.

Hi Estelle. Thank you for your feedback, we take everything our guests say on board & try our hardest to keep guests happy & comfortable throughout their stay here. We wish you had given us chance to rectify these issues throughout the week or when Ben had asked you guys if you had enjoyed your stay and you replied yes. Unfortunately the cupboard doors are no longer available for this kitchen so it’s a full new kitchen - which isn’t a 5 min fix throughout our busy period. The ice dispenser on the old fridge got accidentally broken one week so replaced it with a new fridge/freezer and we do provide ice cube trays. Reed diffuser - sorry these were missed but we could have easily refilled these in 2 mins for you. I’m sorry you found the sofa & beds uncomfortable but these are personal preference unfortunately. These beds were new last year. Soft furnishings, beddings and towels are replaced regularly - again if you were disappointed by these we could have happily replaced these for you. Duvets are sent to laundry regularly and replaced when needed. We do try our hardest here at Meeting house to keep all our guests happy and we thank you for your feedback & take all on board. Thank you Ben & Wendy. Property Owner

The cottage (Farrow) had everything we needed and the gardens and hot tub were perfect for the kids. Such a good location with short drives to either whitby or Scarborough! The kitchen had everything we needed to cook meals and we loved that there were little bits to get us going such as cookies, tea, coffee and milk- such a lovely touch. The owners were very quick at replying to any queries I had too. The only thing that could have been improved ever so slightly were the mattresses were a little hard but this would not stop us coming back and we plan on trying to book for the end of summer! Everything was clean and very well maintained. The hot tub and the log burner definitely made it for me! Farrow has its own private garden which the kids loved! There is a woodland type walkway about 5/10 minutes away from the site on foot where there is a tea room (it was closed when went for a walk, gutted! But it looked lovely!) It was great value for money. I would definitely recommend and I would definitely return if we were to get a similar price/deal.

Thanks for your feedback We are always on hand to help with any issues during your stay , i can't think of any trip hazard on the way to the hot tub I'm unsure by what you mean if you could of pointed it out to us we could of rectified this straight away . The new upvc windows and doors are on order and will be fitted at the end of the season when we get a break in the cottage. We try to keep the cottage cosy but there is sufficient lighting in the living room . As new owners we are continually re investing in all five cottages and try to keep them to a very good standard . Lovely peaceful setting but still within easy reach of Robin Hoods Bay and Whitby etc. The cottage is a converted barn on what was once a fully working farm. Farrow was the best of these by far. With a beautiful garden and fields beyond. What a view!! Due to the location we were able to see the stars on a clear night from the hot tub. The cottage is heated from the wood burning stove of which there is a plentiful supply of logs in the barn further up. There are other heaters in the rooms though if you dont want to fire up the wood burner. The owners live on site and are on hand if you need anything but otherwise leave you in peace. My only feedback would be that there were not enough toilet rolls. One and half rolls for 3 of us for 3 nights?????
