  • "Lovely cottage and great location for exploring the area."

Very well equipped and welcoming. Our only negative would be the beds - both mattresses are hard and the bed frames very creaky. None of us slept particularly well during the stay due to this.

  • "We had a wonderful stay at Crumble's Cottage, named after the owners' dog."

The cottage is clean, cosy and welcoming, and the little extras we received upon arrival were a lovely surprise; cake, milk and a little dish of dog biscuits, which our furbabies very much appreciated! A selection of Tea and coffee was also provided. The owners have gone above and beyond, to make guests feel at home, and we hope to visit again soon

Thanks you for your lovely feedback, glad you had a good holiday Property Owner

  • "We have had the most wonderful and restful stay at Crumble Cottage."

The cottage is beautifully decorated and furnished, it is stylish and incredibly comfortable. The owners have provided everything you could possibly need, the welcome tray was lovely and the info pack really comprehensive. The cottage is peaceful, and has a lovely outside seating area, very private and peaceful. The beds are super comfy and the pillows and bedding real luxury. The kitchen is fantastic and the bathroom beautiful with an incredible waterfall shower. The photos don't do this lovely gem justice. We didn't want to leave, and look forward to staying at Crumble cottage again soon. Thank you so much for such a lovely holiday in your beautiful cottage.

We found it very difficult to lock. Also the back gate needs fixing/replacing it's looking very tired.

Thank you for your feedback. Unfortunately the very wet winter has taken its toll on the back gate and gatepost which has swollen up. We have made arrangements for replacement Property Owner

  • "Cottage is very clean, very comfortable, apart from the beds, which we found very hard to sleep on."

Suggest mattress toppers? Everything you could possibly need is here, and more! Parking was not too bad, usually within close walking distance of property. Close to town, so you can walk to any amenities in Kirkbymoorside, which is a pleasant town, and close to Helmsley and Pickering, both worth a visit. Beautifully kept, and spotlessly clean, even down to pet cleaning cloths! We had an issue with rain coming into property when we had a downpour, so had that to deal with. Told the owner, who I feel sure has dealt with this now.

Thank you for your feedback and glad you had a good holiday. The small leak caused by the ferocity of Storm Babet has now been fixed. Bed comfort and mattress firmness is such a personal taste and I’ve also had comments about how comfortable guests have found the beds. I’m sorry they were not to your liking Property Owner

  • "Lovely cottage, nice flow, easy to get to lots of towns and villages in North Yorkshire."

We had a problem with the washing machine and the owner came straight out and fixed it for us (just a loose switch) Lots of pots and pans and other basics only thing we missed was a freezer. We wondered if a small one would fit in the cupboard near the kitchen but we would stay again.

Thank you for your helpful feedback. There is a small freezer box in the fridge but I appreciate this might restrict a larger group or family. Unfortunately we can’t fit a separate freezer into the kitchen and fire regs prevent us having electrical items in the under stairs cupboard. . Property Owner

  • "I honestly hate writing bad reviews so if it's a little thing I don't bother but honestly."

I hated this place. Firstly this house is listed as dog friendly and nothing else on the listing but arriving dogs are not allowed upstairs and sofas needed to be covered to go on them. If this was disclosed on the booking I wouldn't have booked. Half the stove top didn't work for us the lady came out and checked as well and gave us a camping stove to use. And it would be fixed Tuesday and it wasn't. The backdoor had dropped so you had to slam the door to get it to close. The bathroom door doesn't lock and the shower was leaking and was pouring out from ceiling to the living room. And we weren't able to use the shower. The lady did come and grout it after a plumber was out but even waiting over 24 hours the gout wasn't set and was basically going down the drain. The tumble dryer wasn't working correctly. It was a washing machine tumble dryer in one and once it washed it would not dry. Also the hot water wasn't hot it was warm so we had to have Luke warm baths because we couldn't use the shower. The lady did say we should have told the plumber but at that stage we didn't know it was Luke warm and explained it's at 52° due to scalding but it didn't feel hot at all. We went away for a week relaxation and seemed like we were messaging every day and honestly hated the hassle. We were told she's nothing but good reviews for the property but I can't understand how there has been no complaints about everything and especially about the bath as there is water stains on the living room roof by the beams showing it's been a problem for a ongoing while and how she stated at the beginning they had just resealed the bath because of the leak and she said the grouting was a temporary fix

I am really sorry that the guest experienced some problems during her stay which I tried hard to rectify, but not to her satisfaction. She made me aware of two issues which I responded to promptly. on both occasions. The hob wasn't lighting properly, so I attended within an hour, got three out of four burners working, but as it was a bank holiday, I was not able to get anyone to fix the fourth one during her stay. The shower was leaking, and the plumber attended straight after the bank holiday and diagnosed a problem with the grout. I repaired this straight away, but the guest clearly did not want me in the property and I was only able to make a temporary repair. She did not advise me of the other issues until after she had left. The back door does not need to be slammed, in fact quite the opposite. She did not tell me the water was too cool for her liking, it is regulated in accordance with recommended temperatures, but I could have adjusted it if I had known. Most dog-friendly properties in my experience do not allow dogs upstairs. We provide throws and towels for dogs who may want to sit on the sofas, a secure garden and dog treats. I am truly sorry she did not enjoy her stay. Property Owner
