Such a relaxing retreat. You have thought of everything….making the place so comfortable and home from home. (Loving the kitchen bin….took me a day to realise it worked by sensor….genius!) Especially enjoyed sitting out on the balcony upstairs (so lucky with the weather)…it was so tranquil. Recommend the cinder track walk along the top of the viaduct into Whitby; Trencher’s chippie in Whitby, Robin Hood’s Bay, Staithes, Hare & Hounds (YO22 4LH), delicious Sunday lunch at nearby Bridge Inn (YO21 1NJ). The welcome hamper was a lovely bonus. We will definitely be back.

A lovely cottage sitting on the River Esk, under a lovely viaduct. We sat on the balcony most mornings with our cups of tea, watching the rowing boats and even seals swimming up & down the river. Lisa was the perfect host from initial booking up to the day we left. There was also a lovely welcoming pack. It’s a twenty minute walk into Whitby or a 4 min drive. A lovely cottage in a lovely town. Thanks for a wonderful stay!

This is the best holiday cottage of its size in Riverside Walk due to its proximity to the river, the view from the balcony and patio, the large lawn at the front of the cottage, and privacy. The cottage itself is extremely well equipped, very cosy and comfortable. A beautiful welcome basket always greats us when we arrive. Weather was disappointing for some of the week, but being tucked away, snug in this cottage, with the games and reading material provided, made up for it.

Look out for the steam and diesel trains that regularly pass in the morning. Cottage was just the right size for myself, husband and Chester the Jack Russell. Great for exploring Whitby - a 5k round trip if walking -or the Yorkshire Moors for great walks. Couple of very minor gripes - downstairs toilet urgently needs to be looked at by a plumber. we stopped using during our stay due to fear of flooding. Lots of kitchen appliances available to use including slow cooker and air fryer but no toaster? Overall a nice weeks stay.

Hi thank you for your review, so sorry to hear about the toilet issue my mobile number was in the information book and I would had got this sorted straight away if I had known. Their was a toaster its the the kitchen cupboard as not a lot of room on the kitchen surface. I am glad you had a lovely stay sorry for any inconvenience caused . Regards Lisa Property Owner

Car parking virtually at the door; a very large, mostly private, expanse of grass to sunbathe and play with the dog; great views of the activity on the river from the top balcony and the patio. The cottage is stocked with everything you could ever need - and a lot more besides. Each time I visit further improvements have been made - new doors, bedroom furniture, kitchen, and dining area. The owner is determined to provide her guests with a comfortable, relaxing and enjoyable holiday, right down to the beautiful welcome basket. If you love Whitby, this is the place to stay to make your experience just perfect. My next visit is already booked.

.. We must thank Lisa, the owner, who went above and beyond to help us, I can't recall any of the previous holiday properties we have stayed in when we have been contacted by the actual owner...and certainly not in an intrusive way, but just to say by text that we could have use of the cottage before the actual check in time, and to help us over another matter that wasn't property related... Certainly if we choose to stay in that area again, Maplebeck would be my first choice... Our dog settled very well there aswell...

Black mould on tiles in shower, between the shower tray and the glass isn’t clean again mould and lime scale. The bottom of the door frame in the bathroom needs repairing and painting. Radio didn’t work even though tested label said it worked in June. All of the skirting boards need a good wipe and the glass on both sets of french doors need a clean (definitely ruined the lovely views). Even though we were happy with the price we paid this year I certainly would not be happy with the £400 increase for the same week next year. A shame for the poor up keep and the price changing dramatically, therefore will not be returning for the forth year.

Sorry for this feedback and I am very surprised. Brought this property last June and spent a considerable amount of money due to how bad it was before. The price increase is due to more refurb being done. I hope you enjoyed the 3 bottles of wine left and the welcome basket. Hope you find somewhere a lot better. Regards Lisa Property Owner
