  • "We found the cottage to be in a lovely location with excellent walks to Staithes & Runswick Bay straight from the door."

It was a quiet and peaceful too. The cottage was well equipped and provided useful maps for walks. There were just a few things we weren’t happy about - the main one being the mattress on the bed in the front bedroom was so uncomfortable. It felt like the springs were poking through it. It was too uncomfortable to sleep on my side and in the mornings I felt like I was bruised it was so sore. My husband also had problems using the oven despite referring to the manual provided. The house was rather dusty too we found which made me sneeze! Apart from that everything was fine

Sorry to hear you found the mattress uncomfortable, it is a new one, we may look at replacing with a memory foam like in the other bedroom to prevent being able to feel the springs. We just like to give the guests the option as not everyone likes the memory foam type mattresses. The electric oven has 2 clearly signed knobs, one for temp and one for oven function. We will get our service provider to investigate the dust? Property Owner

Comfortable cottage, close to the Cleveland Way for walks to Staithes and Runswick Bay and further afield. The bus service is great for trips further along the coast so no need to use the car. (Parking space a definite plus). Perfect for us, hopefully back next year.

The cottage was clean and we felt very at home. It was a great location for walking along the coastal path and also only a short walk into Hinderwell where there was a cafe and two pubs.

  • "This cottage is in a beautiful area, a 5 minute walk from the Cleveland Way with spectacular walking and just 10 minutes walk into Hinderwell which has two good pubs and other facilities."

We were however, a little disappointed with the accommodation. It does say in the description that the stairs are steep and they are - very! In fact the the last few stairs towards the top are positively dangerous where the rail sort of disappears into the wall. There was an overall general lack of general maintenance ie black mould in the shower and a large glacier in the fridge which must have taken many months to grow to its size. All of this didn't stop us enjoying our holiday and we had brilliant weather.

Apologies for the fridge it must have been left open on occasions for this to happen and it was rectified once was there was a gap in bookings for fridge to be defrosted. It is made as clear as possible on the listing about the steep stairs. Now it has been brought to our attention the cleaner has now rectified the tiny amount mould which was missed on the bottom corner of shower door. Property Owner

  • "Lovely cottage in an excellent position on the coast with plenty of walks on the doorstep."

Well equipped and comfy. Slightly disappointed that when we arrived there were no logs, matches or firefighters to use the log burner. Had to go out that night and buy some. The upstairs toilet caused a few problems as it can only be used for no1’s and the stairs are very steep to be used at night to go down to the other bathroom. Apart from that we enjoyed our stay and overall we were happy with our accommodation.

Thanks for taking your time to leave valuable feedback. Property Owner

Particularly loved the fact that it had a parking space as where we normally stay this isn’t the case. We found the bed very comfortable and slept well when you take into account the extreme temperatures. The area is quiet and the two pubs and the butchers are excellent. We appreciated having a map of the area in the cottage as we walked every day while we were there.

cleanliness Great. only downside to our stay was the fire didnt have any logs or lighters which we needed after arriving on a cold wet day. main reason we booked this cottage was for the fire. went and bought logs and lighters next day though.

We do apologise for the fire not being layed. This was an oversight by our service providers and shouldnt happen again. Otherwise we hope you enjoyed your stay and thanks for the valuable feedback. Property Owner

Easy access to the Cleaveland way, we walked to Staithes one and a half miles along the coast path for a pub lunch. It’s a ten minute walk to the village pub of an evening. You can be in the wilderness of the moors in minutes or a 20 minute drive to Whitby. The cottage was well equipped and the beds were comfortable.
