"This is a really difficult review to write, because (a) we absolutely love the location of the lodge."
An excellent base for exploring all of the North Yorks & Teeside coast and moors. The lodge itself is surrounded by amazing wildlife and is so peaceful and relaxing (b) Jamie the owner is absolutely excellent and always pops down to check that you have settled in well and you don't need anything and (c) you get the absolute best welcome pack of anywhere we have ever stayed, which is greatly appreciated.
However, it is now 13 months since our last stay at the lodge, and we had hoped that in that time they would have replaced the old broken and discoloured vinyl floor tiles in both bathrooms with some modern vinyl flooring, but sadly not. These are now in a much worse condition and not only poor from a hygiene perspective but now also a trip hazard in the main bathroom. All of the laminate on the kitchen units is peeling off badly. The lodge really does require a little bit of money spent on it to bring it back to a good condition.

"A great weekend in a very cosy, comfortable lodge in lovely countryside."
The generous welcome basket was very welcome! The kitchen was well stocked with everything needed for a home away from home. Fully adjustable heating and hot water, just what's needed for a winter break. Thank you.

"We enjoyed the stay despite having no hot water, which meant having to boil the kettle every time we washed up or washed ourselves."
We spent most of one afternoon filling the bath up. The hob on the oven tripped every time we used it and we were plunged into darkness. Jaime the owner was extremely helpful and we realised there was little he could do with a Brocken emersion heater. I did ring your telephone helpline Wednesday morning and spoke to someone, who said they would get back to me. I'm still waiting for that callback.

"A very comfortable lodge in a peaceful setting."
Our first visit to the area and although weather wasn't kind we didn't let it affect our holiday.
Lodge owners were lovely and even checked up on us personally to make sure we were comfortable enough/warm enough or if there was anything else we needed.
Will definitely be going back, or even taking a look at their cottage (which they informed us about!)

"The lodge was nice and warm with great views out of the front window and a great welcome pack."
Loved the horses and did see the Barn owl each day plus lots oof places to visit. Some lovely places to eat and the waterwheel down the lane is well worth a visit. The lodge does need work doing as the kitchen units are starting to peel plus the door on the washer is in need of repair, the tiles on the bathroom floor need replacing as well. We enjoyed our stay but feel that the lodge just needs a update in a number of places.

"We had a lovely holiday in the lodge."
So well equipped with everything you need. The hamper on arrival was amazing absolutely everything in it even dog biscuits. The beds and bedding was so comfortable. The owners came to see if we settled in and had everything we needed then before we left they came to wish us a safe journey home that was lovely. To wake up to the horses in the field and the owl hooting and flying around was tranquil. We will definitely be back. Even without an enclosed garden it didn’t affect our holiday but if there was anyway to enclose it that would be a real plus.

"We enjoyed our stay in this lovely, clean and comfortable holiday lodge."
We had everything we needed and a fab welcome basket on arrival. Thank you to Jamie, the owner, who popped by to make sure we were ok and to check to see if there was anything we needed. The hunting barn owl in the evening was an extra treat! The lodge is well positioned to explore the area with Saltburn, Whitby and all the coastal villages within a very short drive. We had a lovely time and the sun even made an appearance!

"We had a great time at the lodge, it was in a perfect location for what we needed."
Quiet and out of the way due to our dogs not liking fireworks. The comfort and cleanliness were great and Jamie was always on hand if there was a problem. The welcome basket was the best we have come across. The time away was topped off with seeing the Aurora Borealis, amazing experience, with the perfect night time weather hardly anylight pollution. Would definitely recommend it thankyou.

"We had a great few days in this peaceful location."
The views over the countryside were great and it was a real treat to see the owls come and go at dawn and dusk. Located at the bottom of the farm's track so no traffic other than the seldom coming and goings of the farmers. Jamie was really helpful at the start of our trip and made some great recommendations for trips out (Runswick Bay being one).
The property itself was perfectly formed for a family of five (plus dog) and it was so cosy during the Stormy weather. Then heating was quick to warm the property, and the beds were comfy.
All in all this property worked perfectly for us which is not always the case in some holiday rentals.
Will definitely return if back in the area, as there is much more to explore in this lovely part of the world.
The garden is not enclosed as advertised but with no traffic this was not an issue for our little dog.

"The location was idyllic."
The lodge clean and comfortable with a very much appreciated welcome basket. The owner popped by to make sure all was well ( which it was). Such a peaceful and tranquil setting was ideal for relaxing for those wanting to get away from it all. Near by was a pub doing a brilliant carvery and an excellent chip shop.Handy for trips to the coast and country walks.
I hope we get chance to revisit.

"We absolutely loved our stay in this beautiful lodge."
The welcome hamper was a wonderful surprise and enjoyed by us all family of 6. The lodge itself was immaculately clean and the beds were super comfy. The daily visits by the horses was an added bonus and our children loved stroking them. The location was perfect everything just a little drive away. We can't recommend Salt Burn by the sea enough it was beautiful and reasonably priced we went 2 days on the run. Jamie the owner was fantastic and popped in to say hello. We will definitely be booking again, The Kelly family.
