  • "One of the best places we have stayed."

Can’t recommend enough. You can tell there has been a lot of thought put in. Normally at holiday stays there is at least one thing you can say could have been better or that is missing. Truly, this holiday stay had everything. Can’t fault in any way. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

  • "Excellently equipped and comfortable."

Good local information provided. Just a 5 min walk into Oxenhope for supermarket. Well sited for holiday. We went NE for NT's East Riddlesden Hall and Cow & Calf on Ilkley Moor, Also Salt's Mill & Saltaire and Shipley Glen. Then, twice more locally NW to Top Withins & Haworth Museum. Then a couple of trips S to Hebden Bridge, Heptonstall, Hardcastle Crags areas. We'd travelled in from the Midlands, visiting the Yorkshire Sculpture Park and the National Mining Museum on our journeys. So we found Yate Cottage an excellent place to stay.

Although small it is very well equipped with quality furnishings and everything you need for a getaway whatever the British weather! The location is quiet, with deer visiting the garden in the morning, the only sounds being the twitter of birds and the occasional toot from the nearby steam railway.

Very peaceful with plenty of wildlife just outside the front door, make for a welcome sight first thing in the mornings. The owners both welcomed us on arrival and offered assistance to unpack and provide local knowledge of the area, which was most welcomed and made to feel at home immediately. Excellence definitely comes as standard here at Yate Cottage and we both cannot thank the owners enough for every detail provided. to make our stay faultless and thoroughly enjoyable. However the shower cubicle is very small and not for the claustrophobic - nevertheless this should not detract from the overall excellence of this property.

Thanks for the lovely feedback. If we could change one thing it would be the size of the bathroom unfortunately due to the listed status of the property we cannot extend and have tried to make sure we have used the space we have well. Property Owner

The cottage is beautiful, immaculately clean, beautiful furniture, very comfortable bed, nice cozy garden, lovely area, great walking countryside. We thoroughly enjoyed our break. Very highly recommended. The only drawback, the welcome pack wasn't as expected ie no eggs, milk or bread, but not to worry because a co-op is a short walk away to stock up with essentials.

Thank you for the lovely feedback. I am sorry the welcome pack wasn't what you were expecting, the photograph on the Sykes website is an illustration of a welcome pack not a description of what you receive. Over the years we have had to change what is included to comply with labelling laws and covid, we hope the wine, chocolate and biscuits were a good substitute. Property Owner

  • "We had a lovely week here in an amazing location."

The property was small and compact but perfect for our needs. The owner was friendly and kind and gave us advice for a TV aerial problem. The cottage had everything you would wish for, except we couldn't find any kitchen scissors which was a minor problem. The garden is secluded with beautiful views of the surrounding moorland. The surrounding roads and access to the property are very steep which perhaps should be mentioned for anyone with mobility difficulties, although we had no problems. The welcome basket of goodies was very kind and we enjoyed the wine and treats. Would be very happy to recommend this lovely place to stay.

Hi Liz thanks for the feedback, the kitchen scissors were in the drawer next to the cooker with wooden spoons, corkscrew etc. Access is described in the property access statement. Ronnie Yate Cottage Property Owner

The view from the window seat was very attractive - over the gardens and to the hills in the distance. Oxenhope is a very pretty village, and much quieter than others nearby. It's a good central location to visit all the attractions - and only 2 miles to nearby Haworth (with well signed paths). It also has the Keithley and Worth Steam Railway - which is brilliant. There is a Co-op and a chemist in the village - so all we needed for our stay within walking distance. The owners, Graham and Ronnie were very helpful and friendly - we would definitely recommend staying in this cottage.

  • "This is one of the best cottages we’ve stayed in."

The photos don’t do this place justice - in particular, the beautiful, spacious, vaulted open plan living/kitchen area, but also because the owners have updated the furnishings since the photos were taken - bed linen, sofa, cushions - and it’s all very bright and tasteful and comfortable. It’s in such a peaceful spot up a lane only accessed by a nearby farm so just the odd vehicle and, otherwise, just birdsong interspersed by the distant sound of the steam train (I didn’t realise Oxenhope was on the KWR line and well worth a visit/ride) which makes you feel like you’ve gone back in time. Very comfortable bed too. The kitchen is one of the most well equipped we’ve come across. I had to have words with the oven but there are some tips in the manual. Big windows bring in lots of light and lovely views into the garden and field and across to moorland. Lovely little garden too. Compact bathroom has underfloor heating :-) Bed very comfortable which isn’t always the case with self-catering cottages. We did some great walks - we drove a bit but there are ones on the doorstep too. The owners live next door and we met Graham who was very helpful when we had a couple of questions. Though otherwise didn’t bump into them so felt private. Just watch out when you’re pan frying as there’s no extractor and the smoke alarm was very sensitive even with the door and windows open. Oxenhope has a friendly and well stocked coop which was very handy and only a 5 minute walk.

The basket of treats was welcome on arrival - thank you! Oxenhope has a local coop which is in walking distance. The local pubs are all very friendly. The village of Haworth is within walking distance and is full of history - Haworth Old Hall does excellent food.
