The Sustonica certification focuses on four key areas: energy conservation, water conservation,
waste reduction and promoting inclusiveness. They are on a mission to become the most widely
recognised sustainability standard for holiday rentals and a catalyst to reduce emissions of holiday
lets and influence guests to reduce their own household consumption too.
Properties that display the Sustonica badge have successfully passed the criteria,
which align with the UN Sustainable Development Goals and the Global Sustainable Tourism Council standards,
and their owner has made a commitment to look after our planet as well as you.

Enclosed garden, ideal for our dog. Parking we found easy in free car park opposite the house. Only 10 mins walk to the beach. We hope to be back.

"Driftwood House is a welcoming place to stay."
It is spacious, well-equipped and very convenient for all Marske’s attractions. The beds are comfortable and it is very cosy. We were very glad about this because the weather was extremely cold during our stay. We had no trouble finding a space in the car park but wondered if this would be the case in the height of the season. However buses to Redcar and Saltburn stop nearby so we didn’t have to use or move the car much. A great find and a great property for holidaying in this wonderful area.

Great to have an enclosed garden. Parking space at the back lane, outside the back gate. Great location for bars and shops and takeaways. The beach is awesome, and dog friendly. Very lucky with the weather. And great communication from Cassie the owner.

"We had a brilliant week long stay at Driftwood House with our Boston Terrier."
It is a lovely home with everything we needed including the enclosed garden which our little dog enjoyed, the bed was very comfy and the whole place was clean and inviting. Cassie the owner was great at providing information prior to our arrival.
Marske is a lovely village with everything we needed, we took advantage of the unseasonably good weather for January and enjoyed some long beach walks and walks along part if the Cleveland way from Saltburn.
We would definitely recommend Driftwood House and would stay here again thank you for a lovely stay

"We have had a lovely weeks stay, the property is tastefully decorated and extremely clean and well appointed."
It is in a good position being in close proximity to shops, restaurants and takeaways and a nice stroll through valley gardens down to the beach.The accommodation is dog friendly with a fully enclosed back garden. There are plenty of places/attractions to visit if you want to go further a field. The owner Cassie was very approachable and addressed any minor issues immediately and curiously. I would definitely recommend Driftwood house to friends and family ,and hope to return in the future

"We have had a wonderful 4 night stay in Driftwood house Marske by the sea."
Everything we needed was supplied and the house was lovely, warm and homely.
Our little dog loved the enclosed garden, it makes a big difference.
Shops pubs and eateries all in walking distance.
Surrounding area lovely especially Staithes.
Can't thank owners enough for our lovely stay.

"Had a lovely stay from 18th to 23rd September."
The house is perfect for a couple or a family. We had one small dog and one handbag size dog with us and they loved the pretty enclosed garden. Very comfortable beds and bedding. Spotlessly clean home. Everything you need is supplied except a hairdryer which would have been helpful. Marske is a beautiful wee town with friendly people. Would highly recommend Driftwood House for a long or short stay.

"Had a Lovely Stay at Driftwood House."
..... Area very user friendly with wide well paved paths, Free Toilets and Free Parking. People in the area were very welcoming. The house catered very well for our stay, even to the point of having garden access for my mobility scooter. My wife likes to read Guest book comments so it would have been nice to have one. Otherwise faultless and we would come back to enjoy it again - Cheers Geoff & Sue.

"Absolutely wonderful home from home."
5 minutes walk to the beach. Shops 2 minutes walk. Very comfortable and clean. My only very slight negative ( and it is small) would be I would welcome more cutlery Thank you for a lovely holiday

"Everything was perfect maybe just the path on front could do with making one level there's a very small step up I tripped over it so did my grandson and he ended up falling apart from that Everything was perfect."

Marske-by-the-Sea is a small, bustling coastal village with long, wide, sandy beaches. Originally an old fishing village, today it has a selection of local shops and pubs, which cater for all the family, plus the safe, sandy beaches, sand dunes and fishing boats are an enticing attraction. Places of interest nearby include Captain Cook's birthplace, the mining museum, and the Zetland Lifeboat Museum. Within easy reach of this quaint village is a horse riding centre, the stunning scenery of the North York Moors, through which runs a steam railway line, and the numerous pretty inland villages and fishing villages including Staithes and Runswick Bay. The old Victorian spa town of Saltburn is just 3 miles away and it's an easy drive to other seaside resorts such as Whitby. A great base from which to tour the area.
