  • "Az we do alot of walking would have liked some info on walking from the lodge into Saltburn and surrounding area."

Couldn't find a path so walked along a very busy narrow winding road. Only a mile but very dangerous . We cut through the hedge into a farmers field on the way back. Also would have preferred the small dining table to be in the living kitchen area. The dining room was a bit pointless to us. Looked as though it had been a 2nd bedroom.

Thank you for your feedback . Our website www.rushpoolholidayhomes.co.uk does have a link to walks around the area including the cleveland way. Most of our customers appreciate the seperate dining room - we appreciate everyone has their own thoughts and we feel the addition of a second bedroom would cramp the lodge with 4 people in it. Hope you enjoyed your stay . Property Owner

  • "This was our second stay, at the same lodge, our first being 5 years ago."

The lodge has everything you could possibly need for a 7 night stay. The space was perfect for 2 adults and 2 dogs, however we did sadly have some issues along our stay. Pros- Plenty of space. Excellent kitchen which is well equipped and has plenty of storage. Bathroom and shower is amazing, and always my favourite part of the stay! The grounds are lovely, and through the day is peaceful and calm with the wildlife roaming free. Cons- The sofa is horrendous! A small 2 seater which is low and leans back. Extremely uncomfortable and sadly was no better 5 years ago. The mattress is also awful! There was a visable 'lump' running down the centre of the bed and then the outer parts are badly worn. The mattress is far too soft and has no support. The bed itself also feels smaller than a standard double. This might just be due to the poor mattress, but we struggled to get comfortable. As a person with disabilities, these 2 things are so important to a comfortable stay. The dining room was a total waste of space and if this had been a single room would have been much more useful. The evening events at the main hall.... oh dear me!!! This was never an issue 5 years ago, but now actually means we won't return. The noise generated in the evenings/nights was horrendous. The music is loud enough to hear each song until midnight and then grown adults screaming, laughing and generally being loud went on longer. Of course I appreciate that they are enjoying an event, but this should be shared on the booking detail. Unfortunately, while the location and space is perfect for us, the cons have increased since our last stay but hopefully the furniture issues at least can be resolved and we could look at returning.

Thank you for your review - did you contact anyone (Sykes or number in Welcome pack) during your stay? None of this years previous guests didnt mention any of the issues you raised. The hotel and dining room were both there 5 years ago so maybe a lodge on the other side of the park without the extra room would have been more suitable for you. We will of course review the fittings during our yearly review. Property Owner

...this was not advice might be the case in the advert on sykes website. The bed was not a double bed it was only a 3/4 at the most....and the bathroom could do with grab rails for disabled and people with mobility issues

Sorry you did not enjoy your weeks stay with us . We did not hear any complaints from you after the first night if you had contacted the number in the welcome pack or rang sykes the problem could have been dealt with - which is a shame as we could have moved you to a different lodge on the other side of the lodge park. Beds are certainly doubles , the grab rails are not something we have ever been required/ suggested to fit but will consider with our maintenance team when we do appraisal during winter close down. Lodge was clean and ample room for 2 people. All facilities available. One recommendation would be two new sofas as one there a bit uncomfortable.. and wifi could do to be better. Other than that I would congratulate the owners on a perfect site and accommodation... I would go back if costs allowed... We would recommend this location for a quiet peaceful holiday with plenty of places to visit close by.

We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay and hope you had a lovely day at the Wedding. The wifi is monitered by our supplier however we do not have the option of fibre optic yet due to the rural location therefore speed maybe a little slower than you enjoy at home. Property Owner

Very close to supermarkets for stocking up, but not obtrusive. Really close to several beautiful beaches and also to the glorious moors. Only slight quibble was that the choice of TV channels was so limited - perhaps due to lack of signal - which would have been disastrous had the weather been bad - and indoor attractions so reduced due to covid.

The bed was small and uncomfortable for two people of the larger size, we didn’t get one night of good sleep. We ended up on the floor! The sofa was tiny and again uncomfortable, we took turns on it after sinking in it. The bathroom smelt of mould every day. An extra good comfy seat is needed and a king size bed. There was NO WiFi day or night. We went down to buy a drink at the open bar but was refused unless there’s a wedding going on and your a guest. We left two days early to find a premier inn as my wife’s back was in a bad way.

  • "Rushpool Hall is set in beautiful grounds and woodlands, sadly it is completely let down by it's staff."

Due to unforeseen circumstances were we unable to check in on Friday 2nd August after 4.00pm. Out of courtesy I rang Rushpool to inform them that we would be late checking in and it would be early Saturday morning before we checked in. I was told at this point that this was perfectly fine. However, when trying to collect the keys I was told by the receptionist that we couldn't check in until after 4.00pm. I originally thought the receptionist believed that our booking was from that day and not the previous day and I duly explained I had rung through earlier in the week and my booking stated check in was after 4.00pm Friday 2nd. She was absolutely adamant that I could not check in. I stated I had paid for the lodge from the day before so after a long journey I just wanted the keys. Again she refused and asked who I made the booking through. I explained that it was done through Skyes, at which point she demanded to see the booking confirmation e mail. This was on my phone in the car which I then had to walk back to and then return to reception. At this point, there were other guests from a wedding party stood behind me and it was becoming highly embarrassing. When I questioned why I couldn't have keys she told me the lodge might not be ready in terms of housekeeping! Again, I explained I had booked and paid for the day before so it must be ready. She then told me to wait until 9.00am until housekeeping to check the state of the lodge. I refused and again asked for the keys. She then used her phone to apparently check with housekeeping but could not get a response. Believe or not, she then proceeded to serve customers stood waiting behind me. They looked as incredulous as I did. Then, magically, she announced that in fact the lodge was ready after all and I could have the keys! She then asked me to fill a registration form in without a please or thank you. The receptionist was obstructive, rude, uncaring, unsympathetic and had absolutely no customer service skills what so ever. The whole episode was highly embarrassing and very upsetting. I have never, in either my professional or personal life been treated in such a disgusting way and for absolutely no reason at all.

Unfortunately it is inaccurate as it is listed as being one of seven lodges; there are in fact 12. The description reads ' set in an elevated position to take in the breathtaking views'. We had envisaged the lodge being on a hillside overlooking the sea to enjoy the 'breathtaking views' but the view we had was of the Lodges opposite; there is a large area of green in between but not what we expected. Also very misleading is that the 'footpath leads directly into...Saltburn' and 'public footpath to Saltburn'; this was the main reason we settled on this Lodge as we could leave the car behind. There is no footpath as we understand the bridge had been washed away and not replaced. Very disappointing! Also advertised is WiFi which is very 'hit and miss' and more off than on; this also affects the TV and Netflix and You Tube could not be connected. The Lodge itself is very nice and had everything we required and a bottle of wine was left to greet us which was a nice touch. A peaceful area and enjoyable stay marred by bad advertising.
