  Very well equipped, spotlessly clean and comfortable. Nice cakes and crisps waiting on arrival. A superb base for touring the Moors and coast. We will return next year.

• "Lovely clean,modern,well equipped property."

  Really enjoyed our stay.To be a bit picky,a radio would have been nice to have and the layout of the lounge made it a bit uncomfortable to relax and watch the TV.Our fault perhaps,but a small carton of milk would have been welcome.Overall though,a good choice.

Thank you for your suggestion on the addition of a radio in the cottage too. Whilst there is BBC Sounds available to listen to live on the smart TV, this is something we are considering adding for future guests. We don't advertise or include a welcome pack with the cottage, and the snacks we leave and the cakes Julie bakes, are as a "thank you" for choosing us rather than anything else. Unfortunately when we have left milk for guests historically, more often than not it has been left unused, due to peoples preferences or allergies, so felt it wise to stop. The layout of the lounge is a tricky one to answer, and one luckily we've not faced before. The cottage was built 1890c, and therefore we're restricted with its size and shape. We have tried our very best to give as much useable space, comfort and the "home from home" feel. Thanks again, and we really hope you managed to enjoy and explore the beautiful North Yorkshire area, and that you'll consider visiting again in the future. • "Immaculate and has been the best stocked property we’ve stayed in."

  We arrived to a lovely cake and welcome note and the owners, Chris and Julie, couldn’t have been more helpful when we had a small issue with the tv. Would recommend for anyone wanting a quiet time away. Only downside was distance to find somewhere to eat, particularly the beginning of the week. But cooking facilities are so good within the cottage.

Marton is a really quiet village, and I guess your nearest place for food is probably a 20 minute walk or 5 minute drive away. With the towns of Kirkymoorside and Pickering only a little further away though, there are lots of alternatives when you get settled in and find your bearings. • "Beautiful cottage."

  Spotlessly clean. Everything you need for your break away. So so peaceful. Fingers crossed we will be back. Only one thing that could be added would be somewhere to store your toiletries in the bathroom. Highly recommended this cottage to future guests. Thank you Julie and Chris

• "A delightful cottage."

  Very clean and well appointed. I had to contact the owners and found them both very friendly and helpful. Set in a small quiet little village but within easy distance to most places of interest and the coast. Would recommend the cottage to all.

• "The cottage was perfect and would be ideal for 2 adults and 2 children."

  our Grandson loved having the twin bedroom to himself. The cottage was well resourced with all essentials including some great board games. The cottage is close enough to Pickering which has lots of shops etc. It is ideally situated for anyone visiting Flamingo Land as we did. A very enjoyable stay. We will use Rye Cottage again. There was also a homemade Easter Cake awaiting us as well as a welcome card. Both were greatly appreciated.

• "Many thanks for the stay in your lovely cottage, it was just right for us, everything we needed was there, handy parking close to the door, and set in a beautiful small village but only a few minutes drive to Kirbymoorside for shops and The George pub which does an excellent Sunday roast, including a vegetarian one with all the usual trimmings."

• "Amazing stay at Rye Cottage (11th-18th August)."

  All rooms were immaculate and beautifully finished. The cake was a lovely treat.Thankyou! Would highly recommend as a base to explore Yorkshire. The only issue we had was that we couldn't lock the bathroom door but it didn't affect our stay in any way.

  It was well equipped and spotlessly clean. The only thing there was not a key for the front door.

We've just doubled checked now with the current guests, and the front door key is attached to the same key fob as the back door key that you would have collected from the key safe on arrival.   The owners are lovely and attentive. Beautifully designed property with all mod cons. One of the best places we’ve ever stayed in. The area is gorgeous, lots of interesting villages close by with York and the coast within easy reach too. We will definitely be returning. Highly recommend the Moors Inn close by. Stunning.

• "We have just returned from a great holiday in Rye cottage ."

  We had all that we needed and more . The cottage was spotless very tasteful decor and in a very pretty area . The little village felt like a film set . It is central to a great many places .we had a day in Whitby a trip to Castle Howard and Nunnington Hall . A day in York with a visit to the Railway museum and York Minster a trip on the open top bus and much more . We used the park and ride from Monks cross to get to York . All in all a very successful week . The owner Chris is very pleasant and we also met some very friendly neighbours . Thank you Chris for a great stay in your lovely cottage .Dawn Bennett

• "Very well presented and very clean."

  Only reservation was that a lot of the furniture was in front of windows which made them very difficult to open and we had very hot weather so a through breeze would have been nice. Otherwise a lovely property

  Hi, and thank you so much for your feedback and comments. This is our first holiday cottage and we really want things to be perfect for our guests. The feedback we receive definitely helps us improve on the service we can offer going forward. Following your comments, we have moved some of the furniture enabling guests to get to the windows and open them much more easily. We have also purchased an upright oscillating fan, and hopefully this will also help with the airflow in the hot weather.
