  • "The townhouse is in the perfect spot."

It's quiet but right next to the Minister. There's loads of lovely restaurant, cafes and bars minutes away. The beds are comfortable and the bedding and towels were clean. The house had original sash windows so without the heating on it quickly got cold, but the heating worked quickly and soon heated it up. The little courtyard area out the back was nice. The kitchen is well equipt and large. Overall this is a lovely place, but it needs some touching up of paintwork and the shower tray is showing a bit mould. It really should be clear in the listing that there is only parking for one car, as we had two and it was really expensive to park it while we were there. The one recommended was £20 per day. This adds quite a bit to an already pretty expensive stay. One more little thing that's worth mentioning is that the handles are round and very smooth and because of their positioning they can be hard to grip easily. I had to be rescued from the toilet a couple of times because I could open the door. Lovely handles, but not the most practical. I just stopped closing the door properly .... Overall a really great central but quiet location and nice comfortable beds and sofas.

Thank you for your feedback and valuable points. The door handles are a new addition this year following refurbishment but also reflecting a slightly modern take on the period of the house. However we have noted that those from the WCs were problematic and have now changed them to lever handles. This has taken some time to achieve in between guest stays. We have also via Sykes ensured the parking information is clear as to there being one dedicated free parking space available. Most of the city centre is restricted to cars given the age of the city, so we are very fortunate to have one available 2-3 minutes walk from the house. The house is constantly undergoing maintenance when we are able. The kitchen cupboards were replaced this September for example, but most work will be in January low season when can refresh paintwork and do refurbishment at larger scale or do upgrades to the house due to there being more time available. We would also ask our guests to contact our house manager during their stay if there is any point we can address immediately at any time. Best wishes Warren. Property Owner

  • "Great property in an ideal location, within the city walls and just a few minutes walk from all the facilities."

The kitchen is very well equipped with a modern dishwasher and washer/dryer. The caretaker is especially helpful, local and a text message away which gave our stay a 'looked after' feel. Only minor criticism is that, being a townhouse it has a lot of steps, though this was described well in the description. One of the very best holiday houses I have every stayed in. Would definitely recommend.

  • "We loved our stay at the Town House."

I don't think you could find a better located property, it's so close to the minster and shops. Beds were very comfortable and worthy of mention. Owner was friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay again.

  • "Excellent location House was lovely, but it does need."

Information about wi-fi and how the heating works As in information book it got wrong Wi-Fi code and doesn't say how you work the heating. Apart from that, we had a lovely stay.

  • "It’s a really nice property in an ideal location to see the city."

Main downsides are all the stairs, including some steep stairs down to the kitchen, and no shower on top floor where 2 bedrooms are located.

  • "Excellent property with great location in York."

The parking space a little distant but understandable due to the situation of the house in the city centre and the narrow streets. We found the house to be well maintained and very clean throughout. The large kitchen was well equipped and had everything we needed. The family made good use of the smart TV as the weather wasn’t great during our stay. Beds were comfortable and the rooms were pretty spacious. We had plenty of toilet/bathrooms to accommodate the five of us who stayed. Enjoyed our week and would like to return one day.

  • "Loved the location and the whole feel of the property."

It was extremely well furnished and equipped. Only thing we couldn’t find was a dustpan. As we were not the youngest of guests we tried to keep our trips up the stairs to a minimum but you had warned us before we went and we knew what to expect. The great location more than made up for that small inconvenience .

  • "Really fine property with everything you need for a comfortable stay, well equipped in all areas and with an excellent outdoor space."

But the main positive to this home is the location. It is right in the heart of York which is a fabulous and fun city with endless things to do and places to eat and drink. The house is in a peaceful spot so you don’t feel the hustle and bustle of the city centre but you are literally yards away from it. Highly recommended.

  • "The Townhouse was absolutely perfect for our stay in York."

We had everything we needed, just a few minutes walk from the heart of the city centre. Comfy beds, the house was nice and warm, a TV in all the main rooms (kitchen, living room and all three bedrooms), designated parking space just a short walk away, which wasn’t a problem at all as we hardly used the car anyway. Very friendly place to stay, with lots of history. We would highly recommend a stay at The Townhouse.

Excellent facilities and particularly liked the on-suite facilities in main bedroom. Wasn't clear when I booked that there was only one car parking space that came with the property. Ideal for a family wishing to explore York and surroundings.

  • "Overall very happy with property which is very well equipped and in an excellent location."

Attacked by over zealous neighbour re parking to unload and load. It almost appeared that they lay in wait!!!!!! Our party consisted of 6 and not all could sit comfortably to watch TV as 3 chairs have short seats, not ideal for tall people. Overall cleanliness very good but cleaner needs to watch dust and bits collecting under furniture. The extractor fan in the ensuite disturbed the guests in the bedroom above with its noise and vibration. The above are not particularly complaints just hopefully helpful points to make this property perfect. We'll done and keep up your standards.

  • "We loved staying in this property, it was everything we hoped for and more."

The townhouse is beautifully decorated and cozy for nights in. Although we did not do any cooking there is everything you require to create delicious meals. The location was fantastic. Right in the center of York, just a few meters away from restaurants, pubs, cafes, shops and the market. Once we unloaded our stuff and parked the car up, in the parking space provided, (just a couple of minutes walk away), we didn't need to use the car again all week. There is plenty to experience close by and a lot of dog friendly places to eat too. Although right in the center it was peaceful overnight. Can't wait to visit again in the future.

  • "Great house and location."

Will definitely book again. Personal touches and thoughtful items like hand gel supplied . The only problem was an issue with the rubbish collection which I’m sure will be resolved.

Thank you for your feedback Christine and especially for the time to speak to your partner for me to understand your comment on the rubbish. I understand of 3 times weekly collections, the first Saturday collection was not undertaken by the waste company where there appears to have been an issue on that day. Having now checked the waste company is continuing to perform the Saturday as well as Tuesday and Wednesday collections. Thank you for bringing this to my attention and your positive feedback and suggestions. Best wishes Warren. Property Owner
