HIPSWELL

Scotton 1.6 miles; Richmond 1.9 miles.

The village and civil parish of Hipswell makes up the northern part of Catterick Garrison, Richmondshire. The village was mentioned in the Domesday Book, 1086, as being in the hundred of "Land of Count Alan" and retains parts of its history with its handful of quaint churches. Visitors can enjoy playing a game of putty at Catterick Golf Limited and stretching their legs on the village's vast playing fields. Hipswell is served by multiple amenities, including: schools, supermarkets, convenience stores and eateries, meaning visitors won't have to travel far for the things they need during their stay. The village also boasts ample access to the Yorkshire Dales National Park, being in Swaledale itself, with the 268 miles-long Pennine Way trail to walk, the glorious limestone formation of Malham Cove to explore and the striking ruins of Bolton Priory to marvel at.
