  • "Old Mill House is a building of character."

Two dinning rooms, two lounges all the space you need and accommodation for eight. The positive dog positive fibe made our Dog Nell feel at home. The utility room and attached wet room is ideal for walkers. Pleasant guarden and patio would have been used more had the weather allowed. Great value for money.

  • "We enjoyed our stay at the Old Mill House; however, we felt let down by the minimalist provision of essentials."

There were no dishwasher tablets; no washing up liquid; only one toilet roll in each bathroom; and there was no hand-wash in the bathroom upstairs. In previous cottages there has always a selection of condiments, such a salt and pepper, sauces etc and also cleaning products left from previous occupants but, unfortunately, this time there were’t any.

  • "Beautiful property, but sadly lacking in the basic things needed in a holiday cottage."

No tea towels, not much cleaning equipment, we looked high and low for something to clean the floors with to no avail. Not much washing up liquid provided nor toilet rolls we had to buy both things

  • "We had a lovely stay at the Old Mill House."

It was in a rural location but easily accessible. It was like a home from home with all of the appliances available. Our dog loved the enclosed large garden at the property. The property owner has been very helpful contacting us after our son mislaid some of his property, which was above and beyond our expectations and we are very grateful. We would highly recommend this property we feel relaxed and rested after our visit. We will definitely visit again in the near future.

  • "Our stay at The Old Mill House was absolutely delightful!"

From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by the charm and warmth of this beautiful grade II listed property. The house itself is a perfect blend of rustic character and modern comfort, providing everything we needed for a relaxing and enjoyable stay. The amenities nearby were fantastic. We found an array of delightful shops, including local convenience stores just a short drive away, making it incredibly convenient to explore and enjoy the local offerings. The nearby attractions and scenic spots added to the appeal, providing plenty of opportunities for leisurely walks and exploration. Danes Dyke is a personal favourite of ours, RSPB Bempton Cliffs, Scarborough and Flamborough Head are some great places to visit, just a short drive. The accommodation at The Old Mill House exceeded our expectations in every way. The rooms were spacious, clean, and thoughtfully decorated, making us feel right at home. The kitchen was well-equipped, allowing us to prepare meals with ease, and the two lounges were cozy and inviting, perfect for unwinding after a day of adventures. A lovely welcome hamper greeted us, with some milk awaiting for us on arrival. One of the highlights of our stay was the enclosed garden with vast views from the patio, it’s a lovely landscaped garden for our dog to run and explore without the need to worry. It provided a serene and private oasis where we could relax and unwind, knowing the garden was fully enclosed. Overall, our stay at The Old Mill House was truly memorable, knowing that the property owners are a phone call or text away if needed. The combination of fantastic amenities, superb accommodation, and the enclosed garden made it an unforgettable getaway. We highly recommend this lovely retreat and look forward to returning in the future. Thank you so much for a wonderful stay!

  • "Ld Mill House is a wonderful building in a really beautiful spot, you are far enough out of the hustle and bustle of the seaside towns but near enough to enjoy if you choose."

Information books were very informative and helped us settle in. This is an old building so there are issues especially with the old windows, one doesn't open and the others don't open enough however this is understandable due to the age and it being a listed building, we were just concerned with the build up of condensation with so many of us breathing. The garden is amazing, spent most of my time outside even though the weather was definitely British, we couldn't resist having a barbecue twice, apologies for the accident with the tools hope the replacement tools were agreeable. But to be able to sit outside with the sound of birds, wind and silence was so relaxing, due to low lights at night the stars were amazing so many constellations to be seen, also managed to see a red moon one night, harvest moon it was spectacular to witness in such a beautiful location. We booked for a party of 7 with 2 dogs, however we didn't end up taking our dogs but noted the dog bowls, blankets etc which was lovely. The facilities within Old Mill were great two living rooms really helped us to be able to get away from each other, two bathrooms again plenty of availability shall we say. We just had a couple of small issues, for a house that can sleep so many there was a lack of larger pans to be able to cook big meals, for instance we ended up having to cook spaghetti in 3 small pans twice over due to using the largest pan for the bolognaise and then transferring to a plastic bowl to microwave so we could all eat together, a few more larger pans would make life easier for the larger groups. The mattresses on the double beds are uncomfortable, very springy and when your partner turns over you are thrown into the air waking you up unceremoniously, caused a few heated words and a few nights of sleeping on the settee to actually get some sleep . We were unable to use the dishwasher as the door seemed stuck and we did not want to force it open in case we broke it, so we had to handwash for seven people with only one tea towel provided. The recycling was confusing for us due to the items that we were advised could be recycled and we hope that we managed to do it correctly. Apart from these few niggles we thoroughly enjoyed our time at Old Mill House, I would be happy to live there full time and by sharing this property we were able to holiday with our extended family. Thank you.

  • "Stayed back at the beginning of November and had a brilliant holiday."

The property was amazing better than the photos! Lots of character and loads of space. Comfy beds and furniture and nice powerful showers and nice enclosed garden big enough for throwing the ball for the dog. Nice location, quiet but near to attractions. Sewerby hall was brilliant went to the gardens and walked down to the beach morning. Danes Dyke and Flamborough Head with it's bay full of dolphins are nice for walks and for a rainy day we loved the Scarborough Vintage Fair Museum and enjoyed a visit to the whisky distillery in Hunmanby close by. And it was always nice to return to a lovely cottage in the evening with everything available to rustle up a meal and settle down to plan the next day.

So relaxing, calming, had all the amenities, looking out at the beautiful old mill and fields were just stunning. Location was great for us. Bempton Cliffs just a 3 minute drive away, I spotted the Minkes Whales! And the amazing Gannets. Flamborough Head a lovely place to walk the cliffs & look at the seals. York & Whitby both an hour away. Robin Hood's Bay was also stunning! We will definitely be returning to this beautiful place on the east coast.

Be welcomed by the spacious kitchen/diner with a lovely bench-style table, a host of state-of-the-art appliances, and beams overhead, where you can prepare meals and gather.

The formal dining room offers a wonderful place to socialise, entertain and host dinner parties, whilst the private garden provides a picturesque space to dine alfresco, surrounded by pretty blooms and luscious fields.

Cosy up in either the sitting room with a rustling open fire, or the snug with woodburning stove, providing plenty of space to unwind, delve into a good book and plan your itinerary.

Four well-appointed bedrooms await upstairs, including two king-size bedrooms and two twins, all enjoying elevated views across the grounds.
