  • "Fabulous house, meticulously clean."

Well decorated and appointed with good quality furnishings throughout. Very comfortable, warm & cosy, we didn’t want our holiday to come to an end. We particularly enjoyed the chairs in the windows upstairs and down it was so lovely to sit & watch the waves crashing in it ebbing out everyday and watch the sun rise each morning, I’m going to miss that. It was great that the next door neighbor cleans the windows once a week as that made sitting watching the tides & skies do much more enjoyable (although another clean mid week would have been even better) The only things we would suggest to make No 14 better is to provide a teapot (some of us still use loose tea!!) and a proper tea towel would have been more than useful. We had a fabulous week at No 14. Thank you

We love it’s position by the sea and the outside seating both front and back. One thing l would mention is the slope to the road that could be difficult for people with mobility issues.Regarding the bed that people have complained about it is no more! There is a lovely new bed.!!

  • "We have just returned from yet another lovely holiday at number 14."

Beautiful, comfortable and cosy week plus the peace and quiet. The back sitting out area is pleasant. The downstairs loo is a bonus. Nit pickers should stay at home in our opinion. Going on holiday is not about irons and ironing boards its about chilling out and getting away from it all. The recent review regarding the sofa is ridiculous as there are no springs in the sofas ( I have a very similar sofa ) so someone with a very vivid imagination " springs " to mind. The sofas are extremely comfortable and " the chair " is amazing. The view from the lovely front bedroom is fantastic, just the sea in every direction. We will be booking again A.S.A.P.

  • "Just got home from a week at 14, The Promenade."

We are 2 female pensioners who just needed a peaceful week. On arrival it was very nice, the house was clean and beautifully warm and the view was amazing. A bit sparse in the lounge having only one lamp or it was the big light which wasn’t cosy. The 2 settees have been well used, the cushions need re filling as they are not vey comfortable and you can feel the base when you have been sat on the for a while. The lighting and settees will not be that much of a problem in the summer months because you will be out most of the day ,but if they are letting this property out throughout the winter months these things need addressing. I had the front bedroom and my friend had the twin room. The view from my bedroom was amazing and the rocking chair in the room was a lovely extra. Again only one bedside lamp. Now the bad news , the double bed was horrendous, !!!!!! I had read the reviews from a couple of years ago and the bed was mentioned a few times so I was expecting that the owners would have put this right by now. Sadly not, the mattress that was supposed to fit into the wooden base was smaller than the base, it was quite obvious that they had done it on the cheap because I have never slept on any thing so uncomfortable. Also the noise, it has the most horrendous creek ever time you turned over, simply awful. The cheap pillows and bedding did not help. The bedding did not smell fresh , it smelled stale ,and the sheets and cover etc were so old and faded and tissue thin, no pillow protectors so they were smelly. My sleep for the week was awful, goodness knows how a couple would manage in that bed, it would be a nightmare. Had I booked in the summer months at over a thousand pounds for a week I would have had the owner down immediately to put this right. On rainy days when we stayed in I kept falling asleep in the chair because of lack of sleep at night. In the description online there is nothing to say that there is an iron, ironing board, hairdryer etc, so we took all those things with us and when we got there , there was infact all of the above. I suggest it would be a good idea to put that in the description section. The next question would be would we go again. ? Only if there was a new bed and new sofas downstairs, failing that No because of the lack of sleep.

  • "The property is situated right on the coast with beautiful views across the North Sea."

The rooms are decorated beautifully and there is everything you need in the property (apart from a pen - I couldn't write in the visitors book). The only thing It's short of is a wardrobe in the twin room, there is nowhere to hang shirts. I would highly reccomend this property - I could imaging it being fantastic in the summertime!!!

  • "A lovely cottage right on the sea front."

Myself and 3 children enjoyed the beach, especially watching high tide each day, even in the rain! The house is modern, has everything you need, even DVDS and jigsaws, which we enjoyed on a night. The owners have kept the cottage up to date with fire doors, and thumb locks etc, nice clear instructions, and the heating on a schedule is great (which you can easily control if needed) We had a fabulous week, in a place we've never visited before. If I had to find anything to improve, a lamp in the dining room, and some door curtains would be great, as we did feel a little exposed on the dark nights, but we loved our stay and would definitely recommend a stay here. PS. Spurn Point, and the 7.6 mile walk from the carpark to the bottom and back is worth every sore muscle!!

  • "The house and it's location is fab!"

Really clean and well appointed too. We enjoyed it so much that we have booked again to come next year. I will, however join the "Squeaky Bed" chorus .in the hope that something can be done about this before we return. The main double- it's impossible to move without loads of noise. The sound is quiet but at night, when all is silent, it's obviously amplified thus leaving us without a single decent night's sleep. Other than that everything else was fine. Thanks, martyn

  • "We had a lovely relaxing week at this property, it was spotless when we arrived and was as advertised, lovely sea view, no problem with parking available outside, a quick walk to local shops for supplies and pubs for meals."

Lovely bonus of the chair in the bay window that turned so you could sit and enjoy the sea view and also (as we visited in October) the cosy option of the electric wood effect fire with a remote control. The only reason I didn't give a 10 for recommendation is if people have any mobility issue's they might find this property a problem as there is a bit of challenge from parking to accessing the property and the back garden has several trip hazards as it's a bit uneven.

Only problem with the holiday was builders turning up next door unannounced early Tuesday morning. They were there to remove and replace a section of brickwork next door, so lots of noise and a lot of mess to the rear of the property which they never offered to come and clear up!!

Peace and quiet is what we wanted and what we got. This place is amazing if you want a lovely holiday with the previous. Double glazing is amazing and cannot hear the pesky seagulls 10/10 for that. Cleanliness is paramount and so appreciated because standards have become lax and we do not appreciate this 10/10 . Lovely and clean Promenade and so flat. The "chair" in the bay window is so comfy I got lost in it. Owners so lovely and nothing too much trouble. Booked again for new year and will continue to book in future.

When we first arrived I was all for booking it in Oct for 2 weeks. However the beds let it down. The wooden frames are hard and the double bed squeaks when you move. The plastic mattress protection along with cheap nylon duvets and part nylon sheets made for a very uncomfortable hot, sticky night. Good duvets and covers would make a massive difference. I even went out and bought a sheet and duvet set and changed it so I wasn't sweating. Everything else was amazing it is a great little property, very peaceful

  • "The holiday cottage was immaculate, it was obviously brand new with the decor and equipment all being new."

It had everything we needed to cook, we cooked in the house every day and didn’t find anything missing that was needed. The beds were clean and comfortable with plenty of storage in both rooms for our clothes. The bathrooms were clean and a towel for each person was provided (also nice and clean). There was space for coats and shoes inside the house but also space for sandy shoes on a mat inside the door to stop the lovely carpets from getting dirty. The house was decorated and furnished beautifully and a really plus point was being able to see the sea out of the bay windows upstairs and down, a feature had been made of these by placing a chair in them to sit and look out at the view. We travelled with a 4 and 2 year old and so the little secure garden out the back was great as they could play out there. I would have no hesitation recommending this property for rental and would be happy to come back and use this house again with or without grandchildren to visit Withernsea.
