  • "Dean Mews was perfect for our family holiday, with space for everyone to mix and retreat."

The facilities were fantastic throughout, from the lovely lounge and superb kitchen to the comfortable bedrooms (and beds.) The property goes way beyond this too - it is appointed to a level that we haven't seen in a holiday cottage. The furnishings and fixtures are spectacular - you are staying somewhere special. The weather was cold and wet during our stay but the garden and wood-fired hot tub were well-used - they are great features. The garden is stunning and we spent a lot of time with our 2 year old grandchild exploring, playing in the playground and looking out for the horses, birds of prey and the fox that appeared on the hill each day. There is plenty to do within easy reach of the property and it worked considerably better than a more expensive property we booked last year in the Cotswolds - I can see why it receives top ratings - it is a fantastic home, full of character, beautifully appointed and equipped beyond expectations. We thank the owners for the wonderful Christmas decorations, they seem to delight in the extra details (coffee machines in every room, incredible TV, covered barbecue, dressing gowns, I could go on but we'll be back! Thank you!

Thankfully, the welcoming lights of Dean Mews made us feel at home straight away. This cottage is charming, spacious, full of quirky detail and extremely well equipped. The property manager (Ian) always responded promptly to our enquiries. The garden was great for the kids and in the evenings we made good use of the fire tub in the back veranda, which also has a complete catering area. Our favourite local attractions were a nearby animal farm, Betty's Tea Room in Ilkley the Bronte Parsonage Museum in Haworth and Knaresborough, an ancient market town with a castle and a viaduct across the river. • "I had a fantastic stay at Dean Mews."

The house is large but still manages to stay warm and has a lovely cosy feel. Each room is themed and I loved the addition of robes and a coffee machine in each of them. Plenty of wood was provided for the fires and the welcome basket was a fun surprise for my arrival. We were snowed in one night so it would have been great if there were some board games to play, but otherwise I cannot fault the place. Would highly recommend and would consider returning again, thank you!

Hi Charlotte thank you so much for providing us with an unblemished 100/100 score. The house is a large property at over 2000 sqft, but we are proud, that by its architectural and interior design it has retained its "warm and cosy feel" The themes in each room do add something different and the bath robes being a little extra you do not often find in self catered accommodation. The coffee machine again provide that bit of luxury, sometimes lacking when booking a UK cottage. We try to be generous with the wood and provide ample for your stay so the feature fire place and woodfired hot tub can be experienced and used as often as needed. The board game comment is noted, and we will look to add some board games to the property, to enjoy along with the welcome basket, which we hope gives each guest a little something on arrival. Thanks for the perfect score and fantastic feedback and would welcome you back gladly! Property Owner

The property is in a glorious setting and is very well equipped. The welcome basket on arrival was very much appreciated. There is plenty of room all around the cottage. We had a three generation family gathering here and everyone was very comfortable. The young children particularly enjoyed the expansive garden grounds. Although we didn’t use the wood-fired hot tub or outdoor cooking area it is a particularly appealing feature. Ian, our host, was extremely helpful and communication was excellent. Some very nice decor around the property. The information pack was very comprehensive and we can endorse the restaurant recommendations within the pack. Our particular favourite was the Sweet Basil Valley Chinese/Thai restaurant and take away in nearby Yeadon. All in all a highly enjoyable stay in an excellent property. Highly recommended for large groups with children.

“A glorious setting” wow, we are so happy you enjoyed our location and you were able to have the space and facilities to entertain a 3 generational family. If any guests want further restaurant information Ian is always happy to help. Sweet Basil Valley is a favourite of our head house keeper; she is in there most weekend. Sweet Basil Valley has a sister Takeaway, Hong Kong Supercook in Horsforth which is also excellent. Thanks for the fantastic review. Property Owner

There were 6 adults, and 4 children ranging from 7 months old to 4 years old. The house was so well equipped for families with young children, and made our stay so much more relaxing. The kitchen was also really well equipped meaning we had everything we needed to make a roast dinner on new years day. The log burner hot tub is a really lovely addition to the property, it was really straight forwards to re fill and heat. Upon our arrival the hot tub had already been heated for us, and there was a lovely hamper with Prosecco and other treats. The house was really clean, and the Christmas decorations were beautiful. The house was also lovely and warm, and the beds were really comfortable. We will certainly be visiting the house again as we would love to make use of the outdoor kitchen in the summer.

Hi Lauren, thanks so much for the feedback and full marks, and thanks for leaving the house in such good condition when you stayed. We are delighted you found the out door hot tub easy to use, we felt for hygiene purposes, being able to empty it daily and also for the enjoyment of lighting it, it was a better option than an electric hot tub. It sounds like you had a fantastic time and we would be delighted to welcome you back in the summer where another welcome basket would await, we can assure you the garden in the summer, front and back, along with the pond, is a joy! thanks again. • "We had an amazing stay at Dean Mews for Christmas week!"

The location was a little hard to find as it’s on a private road and I went to several houses before I found the right one. It has a huge drive for several cars and a private electric gate to access it. The house is almost the last one on that road . The house was beautifully decorated with Christmas trimmings and looked a picture. It was warm inside too. There is no direct access to the heating system and the first night was incredibly hot with the heating on throughout the night . I had to message twice during our stay to alter temperature of the radiators . ( it’s done remotely). When We started cooking we noticed there wasn’t any smaller sauce pans and a few other bits missing in the kitchen and when I mentioned them to Amy ( contact person) they were purchased immediately and delivered to the door on Christmas Eve, in time to use for Christmas dinner) we couldn’t have managed without these items and were very grateful for them being purchased and delivered in a short space of time. ( previous guests had burnt the saucepans apparently ) useful addition to the kitchen would be a stick blender, other than that , it’s a fairly well stocked kitchen with utensils . The facilities were lovely including a wood fired hot tub , this takes around 1.5-2 hours to heat up so you need to prepare for this in advance , we used this almost daily . Logs were provided to get started . The outside shower was broken temporarily and we were notified regarding this prior to arrival, so we showered upstairs prior to using the hot tub. The location was great a few miles from the Emmerdale tour set for those that are fans , and a gateway to other walks / places of interest etc . Set in a fairly rural location , so deliveries of takeaways for example were limited ( we cooked mainly ) but one day we ordered Domino’s and ended up walking right up to the main road to retrieve it! The kitchen is wonderful and we made use of the huge cooker although there could be more workspace available ( sides cluttered with the usual stuff we all have . There’s room for a free standing mini island or trolley to-increase the preparing space . There is a coffee machine and pods in almost every room, which seems incredibly luxurious, we only used the one in the kitchen ! There was toilet paper , dishwashing tablets , washing liquid and washing tablets and towels available to use which again is extremely generous . We took our own though, it was only on the last day we ran out of dishwashing liquid . It’s also brilliant to have access to a washing machine and tumble dryer whilst staying at this property . There is an open fire which logs were provided , any more could be purchase from up the road at a nursery . Only a few niggles really and that was the awkward stair-gates top and bottom of the stairs ,( the bottom one being the third stair up) which physically limited access somewhat . Great if you need them as a parent but with having impaired mobility made using the stairs very awkward as they are slightly steeper than normal , and getting cases through ) ! I think they could be removed if not required, but also they’re are better ones on the market which pull across not limiting access. Also the stair rail/ bannister wasn’t accessible due to the Christmas wreath covering it completely ( seasonal) so nothing to grab hold of which made it very awkward and unsafe going up and down the stairs . Also shower drain was blocked by a lot of hair , I had to unblock it by pulling out the copious amount of hair from the drain , before it ran free ( this needs to be checked by the housekeeper ) The upstairs toilet was wobbly too ( family bathroom ) and needs to be better secured to the floor. Overall a magnificent house to rent out , and I can totally recommend it ! I’m sure it would be even better in the summer when full use of the garden/ outside area and kitchen can be had . I wouldn’t hesitate in booking Dean Mews again . Highly recommended. Thankyou for a relaxing stay!

It is absolutely stunning with such a wonderful homely feel. The hosts are incredibly generous leaving us with a huge welcome pack and provided unlimited amounts of wood and kindling for the fire tub and open fire. The place is impeccable! The decor is out of this world and the surrounding grounds are beautiful. Safe electric gate with parking for lots of cars. More than enough living space with 4 upstairs bedrooms and one downstairs. Washing and drying facilities with everything you may need for your stay. Outside kitchen area which has a heated lamp for warmth. Very child friendly with baby gates and high chairs, travel cot under master bed and dining seat attachment. Recent stay for 8 of us of all ages and plenty to cater for all. Hi Suzanne, thanks very much for the feedback, and leaving the property in such good condition. I am really pleased that you mentioned the accessibility of Leeds and Harrogate as i believe this is one of the key selling points to Dean Mews, near as damn it equidistant to Leeds and Harrogate. Whilst it is 20 minutes drive to either Leeds or Harrogate, it is important guests remember how easy the train is from Horsforth station, which is a 5 minute drive away, where you can park at the station for free or you can walk across the fields (25 minute walk, please ask Ian for directions). The train from Horsforth takes you direct to Leeds in 20 minutes, direct to Harrogate in 20 minutes and direct to York in 45 minutes, the three premium towns / cities in North and West Yorkshire. However you are also correct in saying there is a vast array of quality bars and eateries in and around Horsforth and Bramhope. Thanks again Suzanne, we hope to see you again. Property Owner

The property manager Ian was quick to respond with reccommendations for a Sunday Roast spot nearby, and to help out when a Halloween costume was delivered to the property. On arrival, the welcome hamper was gorgeous and the house spotless. Every detail of Dean Mews has been thought out - from the ceramic pumpkins, to the old school slot machine. The beds are insanely comfortable, and for such a big house, it's always warm. We were a group of 8 adults and a toddler and we were never on top of each other. The house is also extremely well equipped for families with top and bottom stair gates, a bath seat, highchair, kids cutlery and plastic plates and bowls (in the outside kitchen). Highly recommend!

Wow, whilst we do obviously think Dean Mews is rather special, to be told so by a paying guest is just a joy. Ian is delighted to receive such positive feedback, he really does try to be on hand as much as he can be. The slot machine is a prized possession along with the original juke box, both restored by the owners father, and are a quirky feature we hoped guests would enjoy and we are happy you did. Dean Mews, when renovated, was very well insulated, ensuring it does retain its heat, and is of a size where a party of 9 can enjoy each others company, not feel on top of each other, but also not be lost in a warren of rooms. The house is very comfortable and it was nice to have a log fire and the hot tub. Owner/manager is very helpful. Calling a sofa bed in an alcove off the living room, a 5th bedroom, is a bit of a stretch but it would be useful if you had an extra person for a night or two. We had a very enjoyable stay and would certainly consider coming again. For those who might worry, as we did, about the proximity of the airport, it was both invisible and inaudible. The loudest sounds we heard were the owls hooting to one another at night.

  • "We had an absolutely wonderful time at Dean Mews."

The house is beautiful and spacious; each room has its own character and unique features. The garden is a great size and the children's play area meant that the kids were in heaven! The outside seating and features provide a really nice space to relax. We cannot thank the owners enough. They were amazingly helpful and provided lots of great suggestions for activities on our trip. There's lots to do in the area and we enjoyed all the day outs but I think the best bit of the holiday was being able to come back to Dean Mews at the end of day. We would definitely recommend visiting!

Hi Ben. What a fantastic piece to read on a Saturday morning, chuffed to bits! It was great to be in communication with you during the stay and it is testimony to the multiple generations of your family who stayed at Dean Mews that it was left in such good condition. It certainly sounded like you packed a lot into your time in Yorkshire, and Newby Hall which I know you visited is a real treat for all generations of the family. We hope to see you again. • "Absolutely beautiful property."

Very peaceful - it is in close proximity to the airport but we didn't hear any aircraft sounds at all. All the rooms have been decorated to a high standard. The decor is amazing - the rooms have their own theme. There was enough space for two families of 4 and 3 and we loved the wood fired hot tub (no chemicals in it) Everything has been carefully thought about so you don't have to bring anything but yourselves. I would have liked bigger bath towels but that's my only comment. Beds are comfortable and luxurious. Coffee machines in every room and excellent wifi (four teens with us) The novelty of calling the gate to open it didn't wear off! Its just a lovely place to stay. We went to the Armouries (not a relaxing drive as its through Leeds) which was worth the visit, and to the city centre which is shopping heaven. We ate at El Gringos in Yeadon (10 minute drive) twice as the kids loved it. We spent an afternoon in Harrogate which is a lovely drive. There was a bit of a failed day trip to the Bronte Parsonage (not open Tuesdays even in school holidays) but they had a lovely lunch to make up for it. We also paid visit to Tropical world which is short but sweet and the pub over the road does lovely food. There is a donkey sanctuary close by too but its not open to the public very often so check that too.

Hi Lynn, thanks for the feedback and it was great catching up with you over message when you had left. You left the house in immaculate condition which is credit to your family. We are delighted you noticed the quality of the interiors, and that you managed a good number of the West and North Yorkshire attractions. The reason we chose a wood-fired hot tub is for the reason you mentioned, no chemicals, it allows for a more natural experience. If you were to return and wish to go into Leeds City Centre I would recommend the train from Horsforth Train Station which is 5 minutes drive, free parking and you can get a direct train into Leeds City Centre (20 minutes) , Harrogate Town (20 minutes) Centre or York City Centre (50 minutes.) Hi Martin Thanks for coming up to Yorkshire to experience Dean Mews and we are so happy that you and the family had a positive experience. We like to think that there is enough inside the property with the tailored interior, collectibles and antiques to please the adults and enough externally with the garden, football nets, countryside and play area to please the children. • "What a wonderful house."

Me and my family had a brilliant holiday. The garden is a huge space for the kids to play with goal posts and a children’s play area. The house itself beautifully decorated and every little thing had been thought of. The welcome basket was a lovely touch and Ian and Amy where on hand immediately when we had a few questions. The outdoor kitchen and wood fired hot tub are a stunning luxury which we made the most of. Thanks Dean Mews, we’ll definitely be back.

  • "The house was beautiful and welcoming."

It was very well equipped with more coffee pods and wood for the hot tub than it would be possible to use. The welcome pack of treats was thoughtful and much appreciated and the bath robes were a nice addition. The garden was very big and beautifully maintained and the play equipment kept a five year old and a two year old hugely entertained during our stay. The hot tub provided welcome relief as the temperature approached 40 degrees during our stay. Communication with Ian was excellent and I would have no hesitation in recommending the house for a family gathering.

Hi Frank. We are so happy with your feedback and that you enjoyed your stay, you certainly picked the hottest week and we did think the hot tub could be used more as a plunge pool that week!!!. • "From making our booking to leaving the property we had an absolutely wonderful and memorable stay at Dean Mews, where many special memories were made."

Amy and Ian have left no stone unturned, and it was clear to see that every aspect of a guests visit has been carefully thought about. It really is like going from home to home, with everything on hand to what guests might possibly need. Ian provided excellent information ahead of our visit, which made the check in process and being prepared nice and straightforward for all family members. The property itself is wonderful and so unique, with a genuine homely feel. Some of our highlights were the outdoor & indoor kitchen areas where all the family spent a lot of time fun time together. The outdoor log burner hot tub was fantastic and clean, and the perfectly mowed lawn was much appreciated by the children and adults. In terms of the location of Dean Mews there is so much to do nearby. We did walks to the Alpaca farm 5 minutes walk away, we visited the Chevin and Otley and even ventured out to the Yorkshire Wildlife Park in Doncaster. Getting food was nice and straight forward. Their is nearby supermarkets (Waitrose, M&S, Morrisons) and a great fish+chip restaurant a short drive away. Thank you for a wonderful stay. You have set the bar very high for any future properties we might book!

The attention to detail is incredible, the bedrooms are fantastic, all with different themes and we're immaculately presented. The bathrooms were also spotless, all with high quality fixtures. The lounge and kitchen was also immaculate and in all honesty I couldn't find a fault with the place. The external kitchen area and hot tub was awesome. The facilities went much further than my expectations and the thought that's been put in this is unbelievable. There is no doubt I will stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a luxury relaxing break. Absolutely stunning!!!

! WOW! BUT not here at Dean Mews. The decor and facilities were outstanding. So much thought has gone in to the design and lay-out. Absolutely incredible!! Dean Mews was also a perfect location for exploring the surrounding area. We were only here for two nights, but we were able to visit Otley Chevin, Otley, Ilkley, Bolton Abbey, Harrogate and Almscliffe Crag. We thoroughly recommend this property. We hope to return next year for an extended stay. A couple of recommendations. - more outside seating, front and back (for large groups). - board games for children and adults. - walking guides for the surrounding area (for hikers).

Hi Michael, thanks for the review and we are so pleased you enjoyed your stay and the surrounding areas. There is certainly plenty to choose from!!! Virtually everything had been thought of, perhaps a coffee table next to the sofas in the lounge would be an idea, but apart from that it was like staying in a boutique hotel. The pictures really do justice the property, if anything, they do not do it enough justice. A private road, electric gates, a huge drive and garden, tvs in every room, what is not to like. Highly recommend and i am sure we will be back. 99.9% quality, get somewhere in the lounge to rest your tea / coffee and it is 100% from me.

Thanks so much for this feedback. Coffee table on order as we speak :) hope to host you again soon Property Owner
