  • "Very helpful info from the landlord, going above and beyond."

The listing was good. Provision in the cottage is excellent, with good books, games for children, videos; space for food storage (so often absent in holiday cottages); a good utility space. However, potential guests should be told to bring a plug-in nightlight for the top of the (stone) stairs as the only toilet is downstairs. Maybe also advice to bring a gazunder if there are children (though there was unfortunate evidence that others had done that on the polish of the bedside cabinet in the twin room). The sofas are OK for sitting (and the lounge is not large), but I was lying on the sofa with a heavy cold for three days - one of them to be a three seater would have been nice. However, if you do have to be ill in the house, the view is pleasant and soothing. The hot water system was playing up. The plumber who came (speedily organised by the landlady, thank you) who knows the cottage, made a comment, and I did not know if he was saying that he had suggested that it was time for the boiler to be replaced, or whether he was saying it in general about holiday cottages.

Thank you for your comments. The cottage is not available for children under five and therefore there is no need for a gazunder. You make a good a good point about the nightlight and we have since added one, but the staircase is well lit. It was very unfortunate that there was an issue temporarily with the boiler but we are glad that the plumber was able to get there so quickly. The boiler is regularly serviced and under a service contract with the manufacturer. Thank you for the other positive comments and sorry that you were poorly. Property Owner

Also on the ground floor is a contemporary bathroom with a small utility room next to it.

Upstairs, via the original stone staircase, there are two delightful bedrooms; a double and a twin.

The charming twin room also enjoys views over the village.

A short stroll from the property, across the river, is the delightful Pateley Bridge with its range of traditional pubs, restaurants and gift shops.

For a special occasion why not head to The Yorke Arms, an 18th century coaching house situated in the beautiful Nidderdale Valley which boasts a Michelin starred restaurant?

Alternatively you may wish to walk along the river to the Sportman's Arms for an early evening drink.

Lace up those walking boots and discover the Nidderdale Way, which can be accessed from the doorstep, or the fascinating Brimham Rocks.

Alternatively visit the majestic Fountains Abbey, a World Heritage Site.

Cyclists can enjoy revisiting the 2014 Tour de France route which passed nearby or explore the quieter roads of this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

The picturesque village of Grassington is within driving distance as are the towns of Skipton and Harrogate.

A wonderful cottage in a well-located area.
