  • "Great property, but I would expect now that the tv is a smart TV and slightly larger."

  • "We have had a lovely stay in this very cosy and tastefully decorated cottage."

The position is perfect for all the amenities around. We were lucky with parking every day outside the Spice 4 U Indian restaurant. We had amazing fish and chips in Capplemans and also recommend The Fortune Inn... Also highly recommend a visit to Thornton Dale a beautiful quaint village. If I have to be a bit nit picky we did find the TV a wee bit small for our 60+ eyes.....otherwise 10/10.

Thank you for your feedback. I am glad you enjoyed your stay. Property Owner

  • "Property is in a poor state, needs attention, outside appearance is nicer than the interior."

Bed was fine but all other furniture was lacking any comfort. Location whilst central is down an allleyway which affords very little natural daylight, windows only on the front of the property making the cottage a black hole on entering so lights have to be on at all times. There is no garden even though the property is dog friendly ! but there is a bench you can sit on on the gravel drive which leads to a parking area for all other residence but not those at No. 39, the bench is positioned opposite the adjoining cottage. Parking nearby was a big problem, had to pay and display in the Ropery Car Park on many occasions. I would not recommend this property If this is the calibre of the property under the Sykes umbrella then we won’t be using you again

I am sorry to see that the cottage was not to your liking. The advertised description is accurate and as with any building there will always be minor ongoing maintenance issues to be dealt with . The aim is always to keep on top of these. I do not recognise your comment about the property being in a poor state. I hope you are more successful in finding something you like in future. • "Our second stay at this lovely quaint cottage."

Ideal location for NYM railway, Eden Camp and other nearby tourist attractions and of course 5 mins walk to Pickering town centre with lots of independent shops and a market every Monday.

  • "To whom it may concern we are a bit disappointed."

On arrival we were given 1 bath towel each. I bath mat and 1 hand towel. We would like to let you know that the shower hose is leaking wasting a lot of water..The windows swelled with the damp and we could not open them. The Master bedroom window allows water in when raining . Hope this helps for future improvements.

I am sorry to hear about the various problems you encountered. Since your stay the bathroom has received attention to a number of minor issues including new shower hose ,grouting and towel rail. New additional sheets and bedding have been supplied and the cleaners/housekeepers have been changed to a new company. This company has performed a deep clean. The outside windows are waiting for suitable weather for a repaint from professional painters. New crockery and cutlery have been supplied for the kitchen. I hope this will improve the experience for future guests. Property Owner

  • "Loved the cottage it is so pretty and in an excellent location, in fact our car did not move all week as there was so much to do locally within walking distance."

The speed the cottage was cleaned as we were a late booking was amazing this was done to a very high standard. The bed was comfortable, good shower, more than enough kitchen utensils, crockery etc, for cooking/eating in and on an evening it was warm and cosy throughout. Thank you also for the welcome package it was very welcomed indeed totally unexpected - thank you to the owner for making it all happen so quickly we had a fantastic week in Pickering.

Thank you for your feedback. I am glad you enjoyed your stay. Property Owner

  • "Good afternoon We really enjoyed our stay at Adelaides Cottage - the location was perfect."

There was a lot of dog hair still in the property - my husbands black fleece was covered in fine white dog hair after sitting on the settee and his black socks were also covered from the carpet. We tried to use the vacuum to give it a clean but to be honest it was not really working very well. There was also a lack of a dustpan which would of made things a bit easier to keep clean when entering the kitchen from the outside. The shower hose (externally) needs a really good clean and this was full of black mould in the grooves and it all needs to be re masticked around the shower as this was mouldy (not great when you suffer with asthma). On a whole when you look past this we did enjoy our stay but feel it could be cleaned a little better between visitors.

Thank you for your feedback and raising these issues. Since your stay the cottage has been supplied with a Henry Hoover Pet which should be more effective with the pet hair. The cottage has also had a deep clean and new cleaners/housekeepers recently employed. The shower hose has been replaced and the mastic renewed where needed. There have also been a number of other improvements which should improve the experience for future guests. Property Owner

  • "We arrived at the cottage 7pm."

When we went into the bedrooms there was an awful smell, soon found out that it was the towels, they were very damp and smelt of dog .... I think the towels had been washed in a machine that had previously washed towels.... unable to use them. Had to wait until the sunday and went to a shop called Yorkshire Trading opened at 10am to buy four new bath towels. Sat down on the large sofa only to find a long haired dog had been there first,,, we were covered in hairs.

It wouldn't have been a problem other than it being Christmas and we had quite a lot of treats! Lovely stay, people around Pickering nice and friendly, shops nice and plenty of places to eat and drink. Very cosy and warm in cottage. We really enjoyed our Christmas there
