  • "A wonderfully converted 1800’s train station ticket office."

The property has been sympathetically renovated to a high standard and retains some of its original features. The grounds are great to explore and take in all the old railway memorabilia. Carol & Mark are excellent hosts who cannot do enough for you (if you visit this property, don’t forget to watch the video covering the development and renovation work).

Thanks for your kind words Gavin. We're delighted that you enjoyed your stay. Property Owner

It has been lovingly refurbished by the owners, Mark and Carol, to a very high standard. From the time we arrived and were met by Carol, we were made to feel very welcome. Cannot recommend it highly enough

The property

For its restoration work on a closed line, the North Yorkshire village of Allsterton's former ticket office, The Ticket Office Allerston, a wonderful single-storey, adult only holiday home, won The National Highways Award in 2022.

Because of its convenient location to both the beautiful seaside and the picturesque countryside, this superb accommodation is ideal for two couples or friends travelling together.

The three railway carriages and the amount of history to be discovered on the three-acre historic site makes this a very unique offering, especially for those with an interest in trains and railroads.

Upon arrival at this great property, find a parking spot away from the road so that you may unload your belongings quickly and easily; make the most of the under-floor heating by removing your shoes as you enter.

The spacious living/dining area, furnished with plush Chesterfield sofas and a warm woodburning stove, offering an abundance of wood, is the ideal place to cuddle up in front of the fireplace on chilly nights.

There is a table with room for four in this area, perfect for a home-cooked meal with friends or family while catching up on the day's happenings or making plans for the next exciting excursion.

There is a television in the kitchen, so you can watch your favourite cooking shows while preparing a meal or while sipping a morning coffee at the breakfast table, as well as everything else you need to cook up elaborate breakfasts to fuel your days out or quick lunches to enjoy on the patio while taking in the breath-taking views surrounding the property.

Two king-size bedrooms round out the house's sleeping quarters; each offers ample storage space and an en-suite shower room, perfect for a quick rinse off before venturing out again.

Because it is on the ground floor, the room is accessible even for individuals with mobility issues, and guests may enjoy the garden on nice summer evenings while sipping a glass of wine.

Outside your door lies the 16-mile Forge Valley Line, which was opened by the North Eastern Railway Co.

on May 1, 1882.

In 1903, the community of Allerston had Wilton Station renamed as Ebberston.

The village of Ebberston is only a mile east of Allerston, the last passenger train on that line left on June 3, 1950.

The beautiful Scarborough coast with its many bars and restaurants, the towering Scarborough Castle, and the plethora of coastal walks you can enjoy are all within a short drive of this exquisite holiday home, providing endless opportunities for exploration if you can tear yourself away from The Ticket Office.

Pickering, a picturesque market town close to this dwelling, features Pickering Castle, the Beck Isle Museum, and other dining options for when you need a much-needed break from the kitchen.

If you want to spend your time in a truly unique home, go no further than The Ticket Office Allerston.
