  We enjoyed our stay very much. The cottage was warm and cosy but plenty of room for 2. Well equipped with all cooking utensils. The owners are very nice and friendly would definitely recommend The Goat Shed.

  We enjoyed are stay and places like Whitby and Robin Hoods bay are close to visit. Goathland also worth visiting where you can walk to the water spout. The Goat Shed is in a lovely quiet area and amazing stars at night due to no light pollution. The owner met us and was very welcoming. The only issue the garden is not fully dog secure. I have a terrier and would have got over the low fence gap at the back of the garden. Apart from that it was a lovely relaxing place and we enjoyed are stay.

• "We arrived at the Goat Shed to be greeted by the owner, who was very pleasant, and showed us around and told us to contact her should we need anything during our stay."

  She showed us the dog field, however the adjoining cottage holiday guest pointed out that it is not secure. My dog has good recall, but for any dogs likely to seek further adventures, this could prove to be a problem. Initialling we were disappointed to find there was no welcome pack, as we had travelled a fair way and were in desperate need of a cuppa. Tea and coffee were supplied but no milk etc. Places we have stayed before have provided bread, milk, cooked breakfast supplies etc The main shops can be found a couple of miles away in Whitby so we went shopping for supplies. The cottage itself was quirky, clean, warm and comfortable. The bed was so very comfy with quality bedding. I have never slept so well anywhere, as it is quiet, dark and so cosy. The shower is excellent as is the hair dryer. The only windows in the lounge look out onto a courtyard so no views to look out onto. There are just skylights in the bedroom and bathroom. The garden again could do with higher fencing to the right as my dog was very interested to escape from the gap in the corner, so I had to keep an eye on her. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would love to return. The cottage is lovely and quiet, away from it all, on a farm, however very handy for visiting Whitby, Robin Hoods Bay, Scarborough, and other lovely places. Constructive Feedback :- A welcome pack would be most welcome The dog field and enclosed garden needs a little fixing Otherwise excellent accommodation

• "A masterclass in holiday accomodation."

  I fact, this design would suit us for a comfortable, compact retirement home. Built of solid stone, with huge thick walls, designed to shrug off anything the coastal weather can throw at it, but remain warm and comfy inside, we experienced a night of severe weather during our stay. The high ceilings and rooflights make it feel light and spacious. With the one room living area having everything you need in a well designed layout. The bathroom was also light and spacious, with an excellent walk in shower. The bedroom at the end had no windows, but two large skylights above the bed, with sliding screens to cut out the light. We left them open, and could see the stars shining brightly, and twice saw meteors flash across the sky. Proximity to all the sites, Whitby, Sandsend, Robin hoods bay, Boggle hole, Falling fosse waterfall made it an excellent base for exploring, even in the winter. Places like Goathland barely half an hour away, with Malyon Spout and moorland walking routes. The residents dog paddock was great for the dog and the enclosed patio was great to keep the wind off. Would we stay again? It's a matter of when, not if. One of the best places we've stayed in during our post retirement tours of the UK that has seen us visit from Berwick on Tweed in the north, to the isles of Scilly in the south.

  Bathroom handsoap and loo roll are essentials in my opinion and this is the first holiday-home we've come across where there hasn't been any tor enough to last 12-24 hours. No salt for cooking (also a steriliser) or pepper - another first for us, so we live and learn. If booking ensure you bring with you. Only one bin in the kitchen - no bathroom bin. Dropped one star as it's all comparative. However the cottage was in a great location and we explored the surrounding area and had a great time.

  It ticked all that. The goat shed is a warm and cosy, well equipped attractive accommodation. Everything as stated in the description and situated in an excellent position. Not far from Robins Hood Bay and Whitby and the Abbey a little further into Scarborough. All pleasant places to visit with an abundance of fish and chip shops , and every other type of restaurant shops and harbours. Plenty to do if wanted and lots of walking if that’s your preference in Beautiful settings We enjoyed a brief chat with the pleasant owner on our arrival..

  Shower not well designed. Only 1 toilet roll left for our 3 night stay. Heating went off during the night even though it is still winter. Kitchen well stocked with utensils. Bed very comfortable . Overall very nice place to have a quiet relaxing break.

  Cozy, warm and had everything we needed for a great break. The cold weather and snow made it a unique stay, and the ability to walk out of the cottage right down into snowy Robin Hods Bay was excellent. It's also a great place for the dog, enclosed courtyard, separate dog playing field at the property. Overall we had a fantastic holiday and would recommend the Goat Shed.

  Comfortable, clean, welcoming. The pictures on the website could do with updating though as the kitchen shows there is a washing machine. The washing machine has been taken away and replaced with storage drawers. When booking holidays I always prefer to stay somewhere you can do your washing as that determines how much I need to pack. That is the only thing that let it down for me. I would stay again regardless of that.

  Considering you are high up overlooking the countryside, the goat shed is lovely and warm and cosy with everything you need within. We slept like a log on both nights. All the fresh bedding and towels provided are clean and smell lovely, shower room is very spacious and clean. Kitchen area plenty of space and work top to do all your cooking, yo don’t need anything with you except clothing and personal stuff, private garden outside the shed for more privacy, would recommend to anyone who wants a retreat, oh and Wi-Fi is spot on

  Plenty of lovely walks on the door step. Loved the private sitting area, great when you have a dog with you, being able to relax and not worry about the dog. The only niggle was the fridge was on the small side, struggled to fit all our food in. The only thing that marred our stay was the diesel situation, didn't travel as far as we would have liked in case we could not fill up for return journey home. Would highly recommend.

  We loved the tranquil location of this cottage, a good walk into Robin Hoods Bay so would not be for everyone, but as we love walking this was not a problem for us. The owner was waiting for our arrival and showed us around this lovely and cosy cottage, it had everything we needed. After days out walking it was good to return to the warmth of this cottage. It is not far from Whitby and Scarborough, Aldi and Lidl were only about 5 to 10 minutes by car to stock up on any provisions. We would recommend the Goat Shed to anyone who prefers to stay in a quiet location.

  A home from home. We had a lovely stay there with our little border terrier Ralph. The Goat Shed was warn, cosy, really well equipped and the lighting amazing. It's a bit off the beaten track, but theres a pub at the bottom of the hill along with a nice little shop that's stocks everything you could need. We had a couple of lovely meals at the pub and chose to get a taxi back to The Goat Shed, worth £6 of anybody's money!!! We hope to visit again and recommend this romantic getaway.

  We had four days of exploring Robin Hoods Bay, where a bacon sandwich and pot of tea are a must at Tea, Toast and Post, after a coastal trek. We also covered some of the Cleveland Way and Cinder Track through Scarbourough and Whitby with a stop at the Abbey. Ravenscar WW2 look out and signal tower was atmospheric and informative. We ate at the Fylingdale Inn and would recommend this too.

  Kaye and Alex have cut no corners on furnishing and equipping the warm and cosy space. A king size bed and crispy clean bed linen, huge fluffy bath towels and reclining chairs in the sitting room, they have thought of everything. A pub with excellent food is just a few minutes away. The cottage is tucked into a quiet and sheltered corner with a private terrace and parking close to the door. Just a few steps away the carefully fenced dog field has wonderful views to Robin Hoods Bay and Whitby Abbey. Take your walking boots and set out from the door or take a book and enjoy the peace and quiet of the cottage. We did both and we will be back I'm sure. Thank you.

  Likewise near many brilliant coastal walks, including the Cleveland Way, the "Cinder Track", and within North York Moors National Park. And of course North York Moors Railway. Expecting something quite small found the "Goat Shed" to be very spacious, warm (even in the bleak midwinter), and quite charming!

  Well equipped, clean, quiet and cosy. Great for nearby walks, bike rides and trips to the coast. The old railway cinder track was an excellent cycle route, away from traffic and flat for easy cycling. Would highly recommend.
