  • "Location of property is excellent, close to beach and seafront, lovely view from rear of property overlooking the harbour."

Parking is difficult at times due to limited spaces in parking bays on streets nearby, although parking permits are useful. The accomidation was well appointed and kitchen area was good. House in need of a good clean as there was spiders webs all over the house and not only on difficult to reach areas. Under furniture was filthy and had obviously not been cleaned for months. Decor was adequate but would benefit from a paint job as starting to look tired. The bedrooms were of a good size and had plenty of storage space, comfortable beds. Toilets and showers good. The accommodation is not suitable for anyone with mobility issues as stairs to upper floors are very narrow and steep. Also moving from the living areas to the conservatory there are two steep stairs which can be dangerous to small children and elderly persons. The rear garden is very small and was overgrown with weeds. Living area is also small for a property that sleeps eight. Two small individual living rooms both of which only seat 4-5 people, not ideal if eight people wish to be together. Also only one small TV in the property again not ideal if children want to use PlayStations or watch child programmes when adults may wish to watch other channels. Also the security of the property is compromised by the latches on the rear patio doors not being secure and some broken. This property could be so much better if a little more effort was put in to maintaining the standards of other Sykes properties I have booked

  • "Lovely property in an excellent location and the free parking permits were helpful and a nice touch."

The inside of the property was very well presented however, there were some minor issues. 1. The shower on the first floor leaked when turned off. 2. The remote for the TV only worked intermittently. 3. We didn’t feel totally secure as the bolt locks on the back patio doors were poor quality. One of the two bolts in the middle of the doors was broken as was one of the floor bolts.

It’s superbly equipped with everything you could need. Close enough to the harbour but in a quiet area away from the noise. Our 8 year old granddaughter wants to live there!

Beautiful inside with all of the facilities and utensils required. The house was in a really convenient location with a sea view! We had a wonderful stay and absolutely loved Scarborough. We even saw Thor the Walrus!

  • "Had a lovely stay at no47."

We are a big family, with a baby, staying during winter. House is as described, very spacious kitchen and lounge areas, perfect for cooking and eating in. Log burner makes for cozy evenings. Bedrooms spacious. Views were amazing and location very convenient to get around town, less than 5 mins to water. Some things to note: steep stairs inside so not suitable for those with accessibility issues. As noted in other reviews, bathrooms are wet rooms, so no tub. Owners were responsive, helpful. Would definitely recommend and stay again.

  • "It was our second time for us to stay in No47."

It is a lovely house with wonderful locations. That is the reason we came back. But unfortunately same last time, house was not very clean. Floors need serious mopping every time guests come due to seaside location and all under the furnitures are very dusty. I am not sure maybe cleaners don’t have enough time. We were hoping it might have resolved the problem since we stayed as other guests mentioned as well.

  • "We had an absolutely perfect holiday."

The accommodation was amazing. The view from the back was second to none. The facilities were really good. Kitchen was really well equipped. The bedrooms were cosy with very comfortable beds. The Jack and Jill bathrooms were great to share with the children (they thought they were fun) and the showers were really powerful. The sitting rooms were lovely and because there are two, the children chose one room for themselves! We had wonderful weather, but even if we hadn't there would have been plenty for us to do as there was a drawer full of games and a vast dvd collection to choose from. We were all really sad when it was time to leave. We will definitely be booking to go back next year!

  • "The property was lovely."

Furnished to a very high comfortable standard. My friend and I took our parents in their 80s and 90s, there were 7 of us altogether. I had struggled to find anywhere large enough without bunk beds. The inside stairs were steep but there was a downstairs toilet which was helpful. Our parents got used to the stairs and managed really well, as carers we had the top floor bedrooms. The kitchen diner with the conservatory extension was beautiful and provided a lot of light and views over the harbour. Parking is an issue, as I had a disabled badge it allowed me to park on double yellows in the adjoining street for 3 hours so I could unload everyone then park properly. I often ended up parking a street away which wasn't an issue if you don't have mobility problems and driving down to collect them. Overall a fantastic place to stay with easy walking access to the front as long as you are reasonably free from mobility issues.

  • "Lovely looking house in a really good spot."

Well equipped kitchen and plenty of room for 7 of us to eat round the table. Handy having 2 living rooms. Beds were comfy and the showers really powerful. Shower rooms tiny but work well. Stairs very narrow and steep so was tricky getting large suitcase up so would recommend guests bring bags instead! Parking was tricky and we had to circle the block several times every day / time we moved the cars to find spaces but this is the case in most busy sea side towns with narrow hilly lanes and unavoidable. The interiors of the kitchen cupboards and drawers could’ve done with a clean and we found several bits of dirty crockery/ cutlery that had been put away and maybe not checked by the cleaners? Tin opener was tricky to operate! Overall a really cute, comfortable and well equipped house in a great location with a good sea view to wake up to.

  • "Overall we all had a really lovely time at No 47."

But, we would reiterate previous reviews with regard to the standard of cleanliness. Either the cleaning team don't have long enough to clean the property or, they need to be more thorough. However, it wouldn't stop us from staying at No 47 again or recommending the property, we would just know what to expect.

All rooms have sea view. Kitchen is well equipped. Location is great and it’s very near the lovely market. Only one thing - the toilet paper was provided one roll each. It would be nice if there is at least one spare in the each toilet. We would definitely recommend No 47 and can’t want to come back again ! Thank you.

Great choices of decor in the rooms. Felt like a proper home. Loved the kitchen/dining space. We had one minor issue during our stay and Sykes swiftly put us in contact with the landlord, who was extremely helpful and solved the issue very quickly. Very happy with the service received! • "We had a fabulous 5 day break at this cottage!"

The facilities and location were brilliant. My only feedback for improvement would be the settee and lounge chairs in the main living room were pretty uncomfortable and as we spent all the evenings chilling in front of the fabulous fire this was a little disappointing but by no means stopped us enjoying the cottage. I would come back a couple of times a year as we visit Scarborough regularly if the furniture in that room was updated.

It has everything you need for a break and loads more. The space is fantastic and easily accommodated two families and with two living rooms it kept the kids quiet too. The location couldn't be better and was an easy walk into the centre, the front and the (re-vamped and worth a few trips) market. We've been visiting Scarborough almost annually my whole life and it's the first time I've been sad to go in a good few years! I would definitely recommend this and we will be booking here again.
