  • "Parking very difficult for 2 cars so we had to park on the road."

Shower cubicle small and gloomy. None of the electrical items showed that they had been pat tested. Double bed very creaky and low to the ground. Could hear upstairs moving about all the time as well as hear them talking.

  • "A nice little cottage, based on a lovely area with a good view from the front of the house."

Location was very good with regard to distance to Scarborough and Whitby et cetera. The area was quiet and peaceful. One or two negative points where the size of the shower literally two of us couldn’t use the shower because we were too big and I’m only 6 foot one. The occupants in the upstairs cottage Vista with loud noisy and her two children that jumped up and down, and ran constantly causing terrible noise downstairs where we were. The front Drive of the property is meant for two vehicles, but is quite tight in trying to get two vehicles parked without damage. However, on a positive note, we may use the cottage again.

As hosts, whilst we welcome constructive comments, we would note that the shower is a standard single person size specialist sound proofing has been installed in the floor between the apartments to meet Building Regulation standards and had the problem outlined been drawn to our attention during your stay we could have endeavoured to resolve it the parking arrangement meets Highway Authority standards regarding size and configuration. However with many vehicles increasing in size and therefore requiring careful manoeuvring, alternative unrestricted on street parking is available Property Owner

  • "The holiday property is in a great quiet location."

I gave Onley mark less than to for cleanliness as between wardrobe and wall lived my worst nightmare, huge amount of spider webs and a spider. On the surface all is spotless it was just hidden places where cobwebs are and look as though they have been there a long time. The only comfort problem I had was at my age late 70s the bed was too low and very creaky. My husband is a restless sleeper and because the bed creaked with every move I had a bad nights sleep. Apart from that it was great and all my moans re webs and spiders may not bother anyone else.

  • "Lovely clean apartment ideal for those who prefer the quiet, still only a few minutes drive from all the attractions Scarborough has to offers."

Nothing was too much trouble for the owner, she was there within a matter of minutes when we had a problem with the Wi-Fi.

  • "The property is in a quiet area of the village, although not in walkable distance for many people."

It’s ideally situated for visits to Whitby,York and Filey . The property was disappointing in the fact that the rug is dirty and stained and the lounge is some what cluttered. The shower is very narrow in fact I measured the width to be 26 inches ( I always carry a tape measure, don’t ask lol.) if you are a large sized person you wouldn’t get in. It would benefit from a refurb. The boiler which is in the hall way kicks in at intervals during the night which is quiet nosey. The yard at the back needs some TLC as it could be made more appealing. All in all the properties could be better with some attention to detail. Would we stay there again No.

  • "The flat is most uncomfortable the bed is hard and the bedding and quilt cheap."

The boiler is next to the bedroom and is noisy it’s firing up all night. Also you can hear people walking above in the upstairs flat the floor creaks. Scalby village is lovely but we wouldn’t stay in the flat again.

We are disappointed to receive your comments after rather than during your stay since contact details for both ourselves as local hosts and our service agents who supply the hotel quality linen are available to enable us to deal with any queries to try and ensure an enjoyable stay. Also we welcome comments with positive suggestions to improve our offer. We are sorry that our choice of mattress proved too firm for you though the property has both a double and single with trundle bedroom with the latter able to be converted to a double or twin if necessary. The water heater being an immersion heater not a boiler can easily be switched off if guests who are light sleepers and wish to leave the bedroom doors open are disturbed by it. The floor between the flats is sound and fire insulated to Building Regulation standard. Property Owner

  • "A lovely central property."

Has everything you need in the property, well equipped. Lovely to have beverages available on arrival. Was great the bedding and towels were included. Handy having machine, clothes horse and washing line available.Slightly disappointed in bathroom, shower felt a little closed in, perhaps going forward a shower over a full sized bath might be better as assisting my disabled daughter was a little challenging. We used the garden area, is private and is separate to the upstairs apartment's garden. Generally we felt the property was as advertised and the hosts were very accommodating regards access for my daughter's medical equipment. Would recommend a stay here.

  • "Everything fine and catered for our needs, only comment would be if the apartment upstairs was booked it looks like the garden would be shared, having a dog it wouldn’t work for us as he would be visiting next door and keeping him on the lead would be a pain, luckily upstairs was being decorated and not booked out so wasn’t a problem, so everything fine."

  • "The location with it's open views over fields was lovely."

It was just right for us walking the coast path, Cinder Track and exploring the area. The accommodation was clean and comfortable but the bedrooms were rather cramped, particularly if there were 4 people staying. For just the 2 of us it was a lovely base for an enjoyable visit. Thank you.

The property

Nestled between the heritage Coast and North York Moors National Park’s countryside in Scalby, North Yorkshire is this lovely ground-floor apartment of Beechwood View.

Beechwood View is truly perfect for hosting a small family or a group of friends looking to explore this wonderful part of Yorkshire.

Head up the three shallow steps and into the porch to store your walking boots and to hang up your coat, hopefully you won’t be needing it in the warm summer months in Scarborough!

If you’re here in the winter months, the living/dining room is the perfect place to unwind, fitted with a stove-effect electric fire as the feature of the room, kick back and relax while you take in the magnificent country views just outside of the window; with a dining table placed conveniently next to it, it’s a brilliant backdrop for your evening meal.

With the kitchen just next door to the living/dining room, you won’t have to travel far to fix up delectable meals or grab any late-night snacks.

The first bedroom is a divine double with ample wardrobe space.

Next up is the single bedroom with a trundle bed, which is ideal for the kids or couples; with a delightful patio area attached, it’s a lovely spot to enjoy breakfast in the summer heat, there’s even a washing line for you to hang up your sea-soaked towels.

Take a walk into the village of Scalby, surrounded by pretty stone cottages and Victorian houses, it’s a picturesque area boasting its own pubs, shops, and café, not forgetting a farmer’s market being held twice a week for you to purchase scrumptious snacks.

There are plentiful public footpaths to explore, Raincliffe Woods, Forge Valley along Scalby Beck or north on the disused railway track to Burniston, Cloughton and Ravenscar, all perfect for bringing the dog along.

Once you’re at the coast of the resort town of Scarborough, you’ll be astonished by the array of amenities that it offers, there’s truly something for all the family including SEA LIFE; perfectly fitting to the coastal theme, the Japanese-style park and gardens of Peasholm Park, and the beautiful Scarborough Castle; enriched with history and even more beautiful scenery, just to name a few of the favourite attractions.

Why not venture to Whitby, another coastal town that is steeped in history and offers plenty to see and do?

Beechwood View is a marvellous retreat, whether you’re a small family seeking a seaside escape, or a group of friends looking for an action-packed adventure.
