"Lovely, cosy, spacious top half of a large detached house, overlooking interesting countryside."
Our second visit. 10 mins drive into Scarborough, 25 mins drive to Whitby. Plus a good bus services to both, a short walk from the property.
Three small points -
Shower is fine, but a heavier curtain would stop it ‘clinging’.
We’ll take our own cutlery next time. Present knives/forks are too small.
The off-road parking space is totally unusable, due to many heaps of poo from roosting pigeons in the two enormous trees. BUT, it’s no problem as road parking is fine, OR as there were no occupants downstairs last week, we parked facing the entrance door, just away from the poo ‘trajectory’.

"In general we had a great stay."
The location and comfort of the property was great. What let it down was the cleanliness of the kitchen. The grill pan hadn’t been cleaned and still had foil in it, the chopping board was grubby and smelled, all of the cutlery was worn/wobbly and difficult to eat with and the drainers in/on the sink were both dirty.
The shower could do with a new curtain as it was also grubby and it was difficult to shower without it sticking to you.
The rest of the property was pretty clean with just a few dusty areas. There were also cobwebs down the back of the bed where the plug sockets were.
Positively the view is amazing, and the conservatory was a nice addition.
The parking is quite tight, especially if there is a car in the other space. Also if you park under the tree be prepared for a significant amount of bird droppings on your car. There is plenty of space on the road outside to park.

"We had a lovely time in Beachwood Vista, the property was clean, as described and very comfortable."
Its position in relation to Scarborough, Whitby, Robins Hood Bay to name a few was perfect.
I would recommend this property especially if you seek quietness and lovely views.
Regrettably we had to leave early due to a family emergency which is my only regret …..I will book this property again.

"Beechwood Vista is a very comfortable, well-equipped property in a quiet road with a magnificent view across part of the North York Moors National Park through the sitting-room window."
There is an open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner with plenty of empty cupboard space in the kitchen. The bedroom also faces the North York Moors and has plenty of storage space. The bathroom is spacious and the shower is amazing. There is a knack to flushing the toilet but my husband soon sussed that out (hold the button down for as long as you can!) We didn't go upstairs as there were only 2 of us and I saw no need, in that case, to brave the paddle stairs! The cottage was warm and cost although we didn't the warmth as the week wore on!
We were lucky in that the bottom flat was unoccupied so we didn't need to park beneath the pesky pigeon tree nor worry about whether any noise that we made was disturbing anyone beneath us. We only had noise disturbance one night when an inconsiderate person was driving round and round in their very noisy car at 1 a.m.for quite a while but, apart from that, the peace and quiet was constant.
Beechwood Vista is a short walk to the main road where the no 10 bus goes into Scarborough every 30 minutes and the X93/94 goes regularly in the opposite direction towards Whitby. The Whitby bus (10a.m) was only a single Decker and was standing room only so we only did that trip once and used the Whitby park and ride service after that.
Nearby attractions are Whitby, Scarborough, Flamingo Land, North York Moors Railway and Mathewsons Car Auctions Showrooms (open to the public two weeks before each auction)- if you are a fan of the TV programme "Bangers and Cash"!
We had a brilliant 5 days here and would definitely return-if the bottom flat was unoccupied again. Beechwood Vista was amongst one of the best holiday homes that we have stayed in so far.

"On the plus side it was comfortable."
Views lovely.
On the downside, a few things seem a bit tired. We didn't fancy using the toaster, there were crumbs on the work surface. The fridge door shelves needed a wipe. When the accommodation is boasting views the windows could do with cleaning as at 8.00pm and the sun shinning through, you can't see a thing. This is my problem, as at only 5'4" I found getting in the bath for a shower a stretch as it's so deep. Parking is tight, but we managed to wiggle around thanks to our lovely downstairs 'neighbours'.
Would have been nice if the outside space was improved, there's some lovely containers but only contain weeds.
We welcome constructive criticism and the opportunity to resolve any concerns during guests' stay. Apologies that the unseasonal weather has caused delay in our window cleaner and gardener's rotas. The alternative option of a separate shower cubicle is available in Beechwood View. Whilst our parking meets highway standards , the size of todays cars sometimes causes problems even in public car park. However there is the alternative of parking roadside on the lane.

"This property was fantastic."
The only small downside was the awkward pedal steps to the top floor, but this is clearly explained, described and included in the pictures. Everything else was great. Very nicely decorated, well equipped, great rural location with pubs and shops close by, and within driving distance of lots of attractions. We would certainly recommend it.
This was our first time with Sykes and as a result of our experience we have already booked another

It was extremely clean, welcoming and comfortable. My teenage daughter loved her attic bedroom for the week. We also liked the Christmas tree and baubles left to make it feel more Christmassy. Would 100% recommend

"A lovely comfortable, clean apartment with beautiful views out of the windows."
Spoilt a little by trees either side if the window blocking the view.
The parking space was tight and due to birds in the over-hanging branches, our car had ti be cleaned of bird poo every day. This was annoying as was the fact we could not avoid walking in it and treading it into the car.
Two of the mugs had to be put in soak as they had what looked like dried on soup on the insides. We felt the frying pans are not fit for purpose and the cutlery is flimsy.
The switch on the lamp at the side of the sofa was crackling. Not wanting to climb behind the sofa to unplug it, we pulled the extension cable plug out of the socket, not realising the hub also served the apartment below us. We are not computer literate. The next day the owner of property came and pointed out to us there was a sticker on the plug instructing us not to un-plug it. However we would have had to get on our knees to read it and it still would have been difficult as the sticker went around the sides of the plug. We did apologise and explained why we pulled the plug.
A suggestion we would like to make is; instead if stickers on switches, some information on a board near the front door and some in a black folder, maybe put all of the do's and don'ts in the black folder, including that the hub serves both apartments. Put a note on the bord by the front door directing visitors to the black folder.

Excellent property in Scalby, a lovely village."
Clean, tidy and excellently equipped. Full instructions for the use of the dishwasher etc. 15/20 minute walk into the village where there are two pubs, tea room, village store and a half hourly bus service into Scarborough. There is also a 'Sizzler' pub, with Sky Sports, about a 10 minute walk down the Harkness Road. As mentioned in a previous review, parking is a problem if two cars parked together in the allotted spaces. We used the road, so not a problem. We rarely, if ever, return to a a holiday let, but would we recommend this property, most definitely .

"Spacious, modern, airy, with big windows affording lovely views across fields."
Paddle steps were no problem as we’re agile. Second bin in kitchen for recycle would be useful. Parking space unusable … very difficult to manoeuvre, plus heaps of poo from roosting pigeons. But NOT a problem, as easy, safe, free parking on road, straight outside. Good location for Scarborough and Whitby (regular bus services, 5 mins walk away).

"We had an absolutely wonderful stay at this beautiful property."
It was ideally positioned to explore so many places – and of course minutes away from Scarborough itself. It was set in a quiet residential area but with easy access to all amenities and the flat itself was perfectly clean, fully equipped and had a lovely private conservatory and outdoor area too. We are hoping to book again sometime soon, and I cannot recommend this place more highly if you are considering a stay in this area (in fact I have already recommended to friends and family

Plenty of room for the 4 of us during our weeks stay. The property was well equipped and had plenty of hot water and the heating was easy to control,so never cold.
Need a car for visiting local areas but there was a bus stop nearby.
Would recommend a stay here as Scalby is a beautiful village.

"A lovely apartment in Scalby with the most beautiful view over the fields."
Spotlessly clean and felt very spacious, the conservatory on the back was great for shoes and coats. Very well equipped although some oven gloves would be useful (unless we just couldn’t find them). All in all a really relaxing and pleasant stay in this fabulous apartment with the added bonus of wonderful sunsets and watching hares play in the field opposite.

"My wife and I had a really relaxing week in the property."
We loved the unexpected view across the moors, woods, fields and sheep over the other side of the road and watched the sun go down most nights.
Bearing in mind the cost of energy now, I was a bit concerned on the owner's behalf at the way the heating and hot water have been set up. The room thermostat is positioned on the cold stairs meaning the pump was running all the first night until I learnt to turn the thermostat right down each night and when we went out. Plus the hot water was unnecessarily hot. The boiler temperatures and settings could do with some adjustments. I put some suggestions in the review book in the lounge.
Our only criticism of the flat is that the cutlery could do with upgrading as it is very flimsy and some of the handles are falling off!
Otherwise a brilliant week in a great apartment.

"We had a lovely week at Beechwood Vista and the countryside views from the front windows are beautiful."
The property is very well equipped and beautifully clean. The double bed was very comfortable but the attic room would be better with two proper 3ft single beds with thicker mattresses (just a suggestion.) It was great having the conservatory and garden space. We visited Saltburn by the sea, Whitby, Filey, Flamborough Head, Cayton Bay (our favourite) and Scarborough (preference North Bay quieter)
We will definitely return to Beechwood Vista and recommend to future guests

"Fantastic apartment well equipped with everything we needed."
Immaculately clean and equipped with everything we needed. With beautiful views over rolling countryside at the front and a balcony opening at the back of the apartment. The only negative was the twin bedroom in the attic. We appreciate the weather being exceptionally hot during our stay and one day was the hottest day of the year. The temperate in the twin room made it unbearable and we were unable to use it. Otherwise we enjoyed our stay in this beautiful apartment. Would definitely return.
Sorry to hear that despite the openable twin rooflights andelectric fan supplied, it proved to be too hot for you both. Had you contacted us to say that the loft bedroom was unuseable, we could have supplied bedding for the sofa bed in the lounge so that both of you could have a bed each.
