  • "We stayed here in 2022 in the Duplex and enjoyed the location as it is quiet, this year we stayed in the main house as my son is now having to use a walker to get about."

He has learning difficulties but Scarborough is his favourite place to visit and we have been coming a long time. Manor Heath is very comfortable and extremely welcoming and near the Park which he enjoys, hopefully all being well we will visit next year

Glad you enjoyed your stay. Property Owner

  • "Hello, this is our second stay at this property although we were in a different apartment this time."

It is the second time I have had to complain about the cleanliness of the place. Your cleaner is really letting you down because the apartments are in a great position and of general good quality. We found the following with regards cleanliness; 1) Faeces marks down the toilet in the en-suite bathroom. Disgusting and clearly had been hidden by the cleaner by putting loo blue in the water. 2) Bathroom towel dirty in main bathroom. 3) Bathmat towel also dirty with brown stains thereon. (Main bathroom again) 4) Mould in grouting in corner of shower. (Main bathroom) A good scrub with bleach will get that off. 5) Food debris in knife and fork drawer in kitchen. The wallpaper around the window in the back bedroom is peeling off due to damp. It just needs addressing as there is mould coming through and this could be bad for any asthma sufferers and children sleeping in the bedroom. This really spoilt our weekend away and as it's the second time, we will not be going back to these apartments again until the cleanliness has been addressed. The apartment is on the ground floor with easy access and parking at the back. It's close to Peasholme Park, the miniature railway and North Bay beach and shops which makes it an ideal location.

  • "We have stayed at Manor Heath many times over the years and have always been delighted with the apartments."

They are always very clean and comfortable. One or two minor concerns this time. The bath tap (hot) needs some attention, as does the tap in the kitchen. Also a small nest of tables would be handy in the lounge when you just want to relax with a coffee or a glass of wine. I seem to remember there used to be one in past visits. Otherwise a lovely holiday.

It is such a lovely clean and comfortable place, which is very close by to local businesses, such as cafe bars and shops. I would highly recommend this holiday home to anyone who is planning a summer or winter break, as it really does meet all of my expectations.

  • "Lovely comfortable stay."

Really appreciated the comfy sofas and the apartment was clean and well equipped. Only minor negative points: the temperature in the twin room is far too cold for winter time. It seems to be an extension and perhaps it isn't insulated properly? The radiator in the room was not having much effect. Clothes were left cold for the entirety of our stay. Also the kettle needs descaling and replacing as it leaked at certain times, leaving large puddles all over the kitchen surfaces and floor.

Two points however, we like to leave the property clean but there was no cleaning materials , we should not be expected to pack all this. Also the oven door and rack was dirty so we did not use the oven, this is the second property we have rented through Sykes where ovens have not been cleaned. This aside we were very impressed with the property, lovely comfy bed and settees. Thanks also or the wine.

When you have been out all day walking it’s nice to come back and relax but this was difficult due to the uncomfortable sofas. We also feel that the television was a bit on the small side. The apartment has 2 bedrooms and bathrooms/ensuite and is large enough so that you are not falling over the additional bathroom chair we took with us, Zimmer frame and dogs pram. There is one designated parking space for each apartment at the rear of the building with a pay and display car park across the road for extra cars or visitors. Apartment 2 was very clean with new furnishings on a seaside theme. It would be fine for a couple but felt so cramped with 3 adults that the fourth member of our family group, plus dog, was advised not to come and join us. The open plan living area contained a very small but well equipped kitchen area and there was a communal washing machine and tumble drier in a cupboard off the entrance hall. Floor space was limited in the sitting and dining area and we found the two small settees hard and uncomfortable. The bedrooms were both small but two walk in cupboards provided ample hanging and storage space. The beds were comfortable with good quality bedding. There were two bath towels provided for each room but only one hand towel. The en suite to the double room was compact and had a very narrow opening into the shower. This apartment was not really suitable for a dog due to the light coloured carpets and furnishings, and lack of space to put a dog basket.

    3) Only two wine glasses, if accommodating 4 people there should be 4 of everything minimum, 4) We were unable to use the dishwasher, the dinner plates were too big for the slimline model. 5)The dinner plates didn't fit into the microwave either so we had to mess about with take away food which was inconvenient and messy. 6) Finally, before we could use the main bathroom, we had to sweep the floor it was full of sand and we counted about 17 sand flies. This is a former hotel converted into apartments earlier this year and they have made a nice job of the conversion. Our apartment was modern, comfortable and fully equipped with all you need. Beds, bedding, bathrooms, kitchens all very clean and comfortable. Unfortunately there was a lot of noise during our stay. We could hear the people upstairs at various times of the day, sometimes early in the morning, thump, thump across the floor, a dog barking, drawers being opened, doors banging, and the water pressure was quite high so we could hear the showers, the toilets being flushed and taps being run. There was further noise from the building next door which is the Miners Welfare place. Their smoking and seating area was right next to our apartment, they were often out there from 7am onwards, generally rowdy, talking and laughing loudly. We had to keep the blinds shut in the kitchen and lounge as they were looking in each time they were out there. If we had the windows open it would have been even louder. They have a lot of land, so I suggest they move their smoking area away from these apartments. We didn't expect this and were a bit disappointed. We love Scarborough and surrounding areas and picked the North side for being quieter. The location of the apartments is great as you can leave your car and reach everything by walking or the open top bus to the South side. The conversion work is excellent, we had a great time despite the grumbles about the noise.

Popular since Victorian times, the vibrant seaside town of Scarborough retains many of its original fine buildings, parks and gardens, as well as its historic castle which overlooks the town. North Bay and South Bay provide two superb stretches of beautiful, golden sandy beaches, popular with families and small children. There are a number of child friendly activities and many excellent visitor attractions for grown-ups too, including the Stephen Joseph Theatre, Scarborough Spa and Scarborough Open Air Theatre for live music. Scarborough is a great location for outdoor activities, with golf courses, lovely coastal walks along the Cleveland Way, stunning cycle routes such as the old railway to Whitby, beautiful sailing and championship quality surfing. Add to this all the usual seaside entertainment and bustling promenades located close to the beach and Scarborough is the destination with something for everyone. Ideally situated for touring the coastline and the moors, Scarborough is an ideal base for a fun-filled break.
