  • "We had an amazing stay at Mayville, a beautiful property."

We were 6 adults and 6 children. Lovely comfy 1st floor lounge for us all to socialise, all very clean and cosy. A very well equipped kitchen, plenty of everything you needed. A Tesco and takeaway right on the doorstep and central for all Scarborough has to offer. We would certainly love to stay here again. Perfect little break away. Thank you Mayville ❤️

  • "We booked this property at short notice and checked reviews which were all ..."

We booked this property at short notice and checked reviews which were all positive I can’t complain about anything really except the heating wasn’t working properly For someone that feels the cold this could have been a major issue as the ground floor (kitchen and large dining room) were cold If the oven was used in the kitchen and radiator on it was cosy sadly the heating system downstairs was not being consistent and the radiators kept going off The plumber came round the next day and things were improved but the heating did not go off at 10pm as planned so upstairs was warm the second night The house is very large with high ceilings downstairs can be very cold if you want to use the large dining room Everything else was great, comfortable beds, great showers and baths with lots of space You just need to get used to going up and down stairs The location was great for accessing town you just need to be prepared to not have on site parking which could could be a problem in the high season We had a very enjoyable stay apart from the cold ground floor which was sorted quickly by the owner

  • "Mayville House is an excellent base for exploring Scarborough and the surrounding area."

There was plenty of room for two families with four teens between us. The house was clean, tastefully furnished and well laid out. It was good to have enough space for everyone in the living room and dining room (should we so desire) and bathrooms on every floor (excluding the very top floor). The house is very well equipped with everything you might need, and more than enough crockery and cutlery to accommodate 8 of us. Our only criticism, as with most holiday accommodation, is that the kitchen knives were blunt and therefore pretty useless, but since we did little cooking it wasn’t too much of a problem. Although parking initially seemed difficult, it was actually very easy to do with the tickets left by the owner. With the town, beach and castle only a short walk away, we didn’t use the car at all on several days. There was confusion about how to obtain the keys which were not in the safe when we arrived so we had to call the key holder, who very helpfully met us at the property. These instructions need to be made clearer. If you’re looking for a peaceful location in the best part of town, this property probably isn’t for you, but if you’re after large accommodation in a really convenient location for the town and beaches, then Mayville fits the bill perfectly.

The house was really nice warm and clean had everything we could ask for and more. Really good location for the town centre and down to the front in Scarborough plenty if local amenities at hand . Would consider staying there again if me and my slimming world friends decide to go to Scarborough again.

It was very useful to have a parking permit which allowed us to park in the immediate vicinity. We had one per family. The location was fantastic and only a few minutes walk into town. We loved the lounge area as it was the centre point of the house, lots of places to sit and play games or watch the huge television. Various bathrooms to chose from and all very clean.

  • "The property was not as clean as it could have been."

When we arrived there were 2 large bags of clean linen in the hallway and a wooden laundry bin in a bathroom full of dirty towels, the washer had a pair of knickers in!! The fridge leaked constantly and an upstairs metal bed was broken and someone cut their arm on it and someone else caught their dress on it and it ripped. When we arrived the front garden was really untidy and scruffy but after a couple of days someone did arrive to tidy it but the back garden was unsuitable for anything!! When we arrived the bins had not been emptied and so with 11 people for a week we had nowhere to put the rubbish or recycling, the outside back garden was described by yourselves as garden/patio enclosed with furniture but this was not the case, it was high with weeds, a broken coal bunker, a rusty patio set and 2 over flowing bins. This property is listed by yourselves as 4 star and it certainly is not.

Suited our needs perfectly. I had the chance to meet the owner and he was more than helpful. I was unfortunate enough to be on the top floor of the property and it was a bit of a hike to get to bed but it did mean I definitely got my steps in for the day and had the best views right over to the castle! There was three bathrooms so none of we’re waiting to use them. Overall an amazing stay!!!

Secondly, the owners were delightful and it was a pleasure to meet Stewart, who was incredibly helpful and friendly. We were very impressed with the property, which was spotless. Apart from a dining room chair which needs mending, and a shower-head that slipped, everything worked really well. But these are minor issues next to the brilliant fridge freezer, the huge dining room table and the great bedrooms. It was hot when we arrived but opening the windows aired the house out very quickly. The parking was easily sorted and no one (4 cars!) was more than 3 minutes walk away. We thought the house was well placed and it was a short and interesting stroll to either beach. We would definitely come back. The whole exercise could not have been easier.

  • "This property is fab for a large party."

We stayed here during October half term holiday 2016. The property is large enough for three families to rattle around in. Plenty of bathroom facilities. We had a couple of requests that were very quickly dealt with - We had a problem with the TV and contacted one of the landlords. He came round within 20 minutes. He needed to replace the viewbox. This was done the following day as soon as the shops opened. We also asked for more glasses these were provided within hours too. Nothing was too much trouble. My only criticisms would be the fact that all bedrooms had a TV in apart from one. When you're part of a large group and every other family has a TV, it would be nice to have the same. For the cost of a TV nowadays this should be provided as there is a powerpoint and aerial socket ready. Also the second dishwasher was not working and the washing machine leaked. The property owners were aware of this and we're looking into it. Location was fab as the property is central to all locations. This was a perfect group holiday. We would definitely consider returning. Thank you.

  • "We felt the property needed a tumble drier."

There was room for one in the utility room as there was a second dishwasher in there which did not work. On the day before we left the property we had very heavy rain in the afternoon whilst we were out and a long walk back to the accommodation. All 12 of us were soaked to the skin when we got back and there was no where to hang our soaking wet clothes, a tumble drier would have been a big help especially as there wasn't any coat hooks anywhere in the property. If this had been the first day of our holiday or the weather wet all week we would have had big problems with drying clothing. The facilities to hang clothes outside were poor and of course only possible in dry weather.
