  • "Large, spacious house in an area we like."

Kitchen was well equipped, the heating very efficient and plenty of hot water. All the beds were comfortable with nice bed linen and plenty of thick towels provided. The shower in the main en-suite was broken - the shower head had to be propped up at an awkward angle, which the owner told us about when we arrived. This was very inconvenient as 4 of us were sharing that shower. The house is in need of an update and redecorating but the price we paid reflected that. We still had a great week and enjoyed the space.

We are glad you enjoyed your holiday despite the shower "holder" in room 2 being broken. As we explained when you arrived we will be replacing the whole cubicle ,re-tiling and redecorating the whole en-suite at the end of November. It has been a very long , busy season and we do, inevitably ,encounter a fair amount of wear and tear as well as breakages, which we try hard to remedy as soon as possible. We update and decorate furiously whenever we have a few days without guests. Your comments were very fair and we hope the shower problem has not stopped you considering our house for your next visit. • "A family of four adults one toddler and three dogs had a very enjoyable and relaxing stay we loved staying at this beautiful Victorian town house the owners Jackie and Colin made us feel very welcome and said do with your dogs as you would at home!"

Which was such a lovely thing to hear when we usually hear don’t let them do this and don’t let them do that at other holiday homes this helped us feel very relaxed as they are dog owners too even though we still covered the furniture with our own blankets. Positives were the space there was so much space enabling us all to have space from each other and also time together no one got under anyone’s feet, the playroom was a hit and thoroughly enjoyed by my 2 year old grandchild but it would benefit from a rug and a decent tv we brought some dvds for it but some would not work

Thank you for your comments. We have bought a new TV with DVD player for the games room and thrown out the old DVD player. Carpet has been arranged for the play room and a new rug has been installed in the snug. We really appreciate you booking again for next year; thank you. Property Owner

Jackie and Colin were so welcoming, said the dog was welcome. The bedrooms were fab, the shower in our room was fabulous. There were lots of extras ..tea, milk, wine. So much space and we all felt very comfortable. My children said the beds were very comfortable and loved the duvets. It was also very close to both North and South bay. Would definitely stay again.

The children were thrilled with the play room which we didn't expect and made a lovely surprise, lovely outdoor space. Location was perfect for us. Honestly couldn't have asked for anything more.

Loved the location, the size, the cleanliness and the facilities. The only downside was the state of some of the furniture and decoration, however we realise this was reflected in the price, and if everything was updated obviously it would be a lot more expensive. But all in all we had a great time, and I would thoroughly recommend this accommodation.

The house is lovely; a little run down in some bathrooms but they are doing it up and the price was more than reasonable. The host is spacious and welcoming. Lovely welcome pack and good book on how things work. Very dog friendly with lots of throws to put on furniture and big dog bowls. It was as expected from description and no problem parking with the resident scratch cards. Bit dated but very clean and warm, Walking distance to every thing in Scarborough. Weather was kind and we got out every day but was nice cooking and playing board games when the rain came down. A nice warm base when needed. All enjoyed rooms and lots of bathrooms to go around. Thanks for putting bins out on bin day as easy to forget while on holiday and meant bins where empty on our arrival which was also a nice bonus.

It was brilliant to not only all have our own room, but also a spacious sitting room and a separate dining room to gather in. Staying at Sanderling does feel like you have been handed the keys to a B&B and left to it, but honestly that added to the charm. The location is fantastic for the seafront and the castle. The overall cleanliness was surface clean but underneath it needed a deep clean, the spare blankets were smelly and need renewing, one shower was not fixed to the wall, the single bed was broken, some of the shelves and cupboards need looking at.needs door stoppers for little fingers ,as doors are on strong hinges, and close heavily. Needs better signs and information on the bins. One toilet window did not open and no explain. The outer door not locking is an issue, it didn't feel safe not being able to lock it, the owner doesn't deem it necessary. We felt very pressured when the owners and cleaners turned up 15 minutes early and sat outside waiting, we felt they should have arrived after the shut off time. Overall the house was OK, but still needs more work.

The house has had work done between our stays and you can see they are constantly adding things to help your stay as well as modernising the house. There were 10 of us, and the place is huge, so plenty of space for everyone, and loads of bathrooms/en suites, definitely better than staying in a caravan. We parked right outside the property, and it cost us nothing with the scratch cards. We had everything we needed, secure garden for the kids, and there was also a games room for them, we also took a Playstation to use in the snug, so no one was bored when back at our digs. The house was lovely and clean, and priced quite low in comparison with other cottages, which I'm assuming is because the decor is quite dated, and there are a few snagging issues, like doors not shutting properly, bits and bobs broken, but these issues didn't bother us as we were out and about most of the time, and when you've got 4 toddlers among you, your accommodation looks upside down most of the time anyway. Owners very friendly too, would definitely recommend Sanderling to anyone, and we will return.

The house is clearly in need of some renovation but this is fully reflected in the price. The bedrooms were well equipped with good quality bedding, lots of fresh towels and toiletries were provided. Even a tuck shop for the kids! The biggest issue for us was draft from the windows on the upper floor but I believe the owners are in the process of addressing this and Scarborough is known to be wild in December! The bedrooms towards the back of the house were really warm, as the house has a good heating system. The owners are clearly trying hard to bring the house back to its former glory and we would love to return to see this journey continue. Good luck with everything.

Yet we literally froze all night the was handwritten notes left by the owner on arrival stating things that where wrong and broken, however there was no mention of this before a arrival, owner told us the cooker didn’t work however when the inspection took place, only 2 days later it was said that it was all in working order, the garden was like a junk tip I couldn’t let my children out there! and definitely not all of the facilities worked, the bath and sink wouldn’t drain, the list really goes on and I have photos and videos clearly showing it all I got in touch with you before writing this review as I didn’t want to leave negative feedback however you haven’t been helpful at all, the owner has not responded to any of our complaints surprise surprise and the company states they have inspected the property and all is completely fine, I’m quite surprised that your company say this property is fit for purpose and I’d hate another family to be caught out, If you want to stay in a hostel like accommodation then this is the property for you otherwise I would stay well clear!!! Very disappointed

We are so sorry that storm Arwen led to the cancellation of your 4 day sales trip to Scarborogh Sparkle. We understand that the event was cancelled the morning after your party arrived and that your party left without telling us or making any complaint to us. You complained to Sykes, with far more comments than you have listed here and they came out to inspect promptly. The central heating, microwave, cooker, kitchen sinks, baths and overhead showers were all newly installed this summer and all worked well, both before and after Sykes' inspection. The only items in the garden are the new garden furniture and the barbecue. New double glazing at the front of the house was postponed by the glaziers in September and is finally being installed this week.We are so sorry that your husband and his staff were cold. If they had told us before they left we could have inspected for ourselves. We do not want any of our guests to have a negative experience in any of our properties and look forward to more positive reviews in the future.
